"Disappointing Assisted Living Experience"
My family member stays there because we can't afford elsewhere. But there's much to improve. Food, cleanliness, and how they talk to residents need fixing. They ruined clothes and shrugged it off, saying we should wash them. No sympathy. My loved one's experience is bad. They've complained about water being shut off and ants in the room.

"Lackluster Staff and Food Quality at Assisted Living Facility"
Awful facility. There's not enough staff, and the limited help available for residents is barely present and impolite. The food is low quality and served in small portions. For example, dinner consisted of an indistinguishable possibly bologna meat sandwiched in a dry piece of bread. Pure tap water was the only drink provided. There were absolutely no vegetables included. If at all possible, you should steer clear of taking residence here yourself or sending a family member here.

"Confused Receptionist Is No Help, Unsure About Administrator's Arrival"
I got there and the front desk lady didn't understand anything I said. I had to wait for the boss and she didn't even know when they'd show up!

"Nice common areas, cramped rooms, not worth the cost."
The common areas are nice, but rooms need updating and small.

"Negative first impressions and no-pet policy at Montclair."
My mom's cat wasn't allowed at the place. The lady whose name I won't mention was not super nice or friendly, she was kind of negative and had a bit of an attitude. She went like, "No, we don't let in pets because we always end up having to look after them". She was kinda suggesting my mom, who is still really sharp and responsible, wouldn't take care of her cat. When I asked if Montclair had more residents who needed help, she didn't exactly respond, she just sounded annoyed that they had more work to do. I wasn't feeling good about my first impressions there.

"Disappointing Visit with Overpriced, Dirty Facility"
Really let down by this place. Even though we set up a time to visit, the tour guide seemed like they weren't ready for us. The building seemed unclean, just like the room they showed us that was supposed to be ready for someone to live in. We barely saw any of the people living there out and doing things. The cost didn't make sense for the room.

"Comfortable and caring assisted living community undergoing positive renovations."
My sister lives here and she really likes it. They're making lots of changes and improvements right now. The staff treats her well and everything seems organized. She gets three good meals every day. She enjoys the daily games and movies. Her room is always clean. I think this community is set up well; it's secure. I would suggest this community to others.

RACHEL LORETTA
"Disturbing Neglect and Cruelty at Memory Care Facility"
I wish I could leave a no-star review! The caregivers in the memory care unit of this facility are overworked. There are not enough of them for the number of patients. I've seen how they communicate with the patients - there is not a shred of compassion in their words. It feels like they are annoyed by their charges instead of caring for them! In multiple instances, I've seen patients left in soiled pants for nearly 2 hours, their discomfort ignored by caregivers who have enough time to be on their cell phones but not to change a diaper. When my friend's mom first moved into this facility, there were several compassionate caregivers, but now only 2 are worth anything. I've seen caregivers scream at patients when they thought no one was looking, and I've observed one caregiver filming an elderly person having a fit. The patients are crammed into a small room they call "the TV room", where half of them can't even see the television. This facility needs to be reported to the state for examination. It's the worst memory care unit in all of San Bernardino County! I could continue ranting about this place, and believe me, none of it is flattering. From missing property belonging to patients, to the impatient medicine administration by caregivers, to the front desk always being too rushed to say hello. I pity anyone who has to endure this place!

"Headlines: "Inadequate Care at Community Forces Resident Hospitalizations - Management Unresponsive""
My friend received inadequate care at this assisted living facility, landing him in the hospital twice within a month. They seemed attentive at first, when I was there daily, helping him adjust, but the attention waned as soon as I went away on a trip. They completely disregarded his nutrition, his medication regimen, and his personal hygiene, as evidenced by the fact that he ran out of diapers. The negligence hit an all-time low when they admitted him to the hospital and didn't bother to inform me or provide his medical records to the hospital. To my dismay, I found out about his hospitalization through an attendant, not the management. My concerns fell on deaf ears as the management brushed everything off, even their decision to send three other residents to the hospital under similar circumstances without any form of accountability. To top it all off, they asked me to pay for the extra services they claimed to have rendered. I had no choice but to take my friend out of that community.

"“Vibrant Assisted Living with Abundant Choices”"
The assisted living facility was well-organized. The staff was friendly and responsive. Residents enjoyed plenty of activities, and the rooms felt spacious like a mid-sized motel. The activity calendar and menus offered lots of choices.

"Nice facility with friendly staff but a bit pricey"
The facility looked really nice! The staff was friendly, and everything seemed clean and well-kept. We decided not to choose this place because it was a little expensive, but overall, it was a great facility!

Disappointed Daughter of a Lov
"Brackets"
At first, I thought this assisted living place looked great from the outside: it was clean and the staff seemed nice. But, after my mom was there for 3 weeks, I changed my mind completely. If you're considering this place, your loved one should be super independent because they'll have to care for themselves a lot here. They moved my mom after the first week to room with a better fit roommate. My mom paid extra for 2 showers a week, but because she said no a few times, they didn't try to make her take one. They still charged for it though. I wondered what happened with residents who said no to everything, and they assured me they make sure those people get baths. But my mom only ended up with one shower a week for 2 weeks. She paid for someone to check on her every 2 hours too, but that didn't ever really happen. A few times I found her still in her night clothes from being unable to control her bladder the night before. I came in multiple times and found that she was really thirsty, which meant they weren't giving her water like her doctor wanted them to. This made her more dehydrated as her time there went on. When I would do visits, I found her jacket thrown over the bathroom shower rail, missing socks, and dirty clothes all over. They also mixed up her clothes with her roommate's in the hamper. They told me they'd bag up any clothes that got wet from accidents, but I always found them just thrown in the closet floor. One time, I found gross toilet paper on the bathroom floor, and another time I was cleaning up after my mom had an accident and the washcloth I used was so dirty. The floor was sticky and gross by week 3, even after I told them repeatedly about the mess. I also noticed a strong urine smell in the bedroom. My mom kept complaining about how bad the food was, and when my family and I tried it, we didn't like it either. Many other residents told me they hated the food too. A couple of things went missing over the weeks but luckily showed up on the day we left. I appreciated that they let my mom use a hospital bed. But, after 3 weeks, mom got a terrible urinary infection, which made her act weird and aggressive. They moved her to memory care to help her stay calm, but they moved her back the same night. Instead of putting her back in memory care when she started acting off again, they let her go back to her room where she acted out. I don't think the caretaker on staff who's a nurse really knew what they were doing. I ended up having to put mom in the hospital and then a rehab place. I truly believe that her poor hygiene at this place played a role in her getting sick. I had to take her out of Montclair Royale for good. They say they're under new management and making changes, but it just seems like they don't have enough staff. The caregivers seem stressed out with too much work for how many people live here. The staff also don't really know a lot about medications. Twice, when I asked about mom's meds, they seemed to be clueless. This freaked me out a lot. I thought assisted living meant they'd actually assist with living, but I feel like they just did the bare minimum. Turns out, your loved ones pretty much have to be able to take care of themselves here. I'm really disappointed and wish I never moved my mom here. They seem nice at first, but watch out. "Friendly Staff, But Short on Help: 3.5 Stars"
My mom’s been okay since she moved to Montclair Royale Senior Living. She’s been getting into some activities and chatting with the other folks there. The people who work there are nice, but they don’t have enough staff.

"Positive first visit; good staff and clean rooms."
I need to talk more to the director, but I was happy with my first visit to the memory care unit. They are focusing on upgrading this unit now. I liked their medication system, the activities I saw, and the staff member leading a group. The room I saw was clean. AnnaMarie was natural, focused, and caring.
