""Okay managers; care staff lacking; needs more resident attention.""

The bosses were okay, but we had trouble with the people who were supposed to be looking after the folks living there. The place was tidy. The helpers who should've been taking care of the people weren't doing well. The meals were alright. They had stuff to do like card games, but my family member wasn't interested. They need to focus more on what the people living there need and make sure they're getting proper care.

"Unwelcoming Atmosphere Leads to Different Choice"

When we visited Splendor Oaks Senior Living, it felt too gloomy and unwelcoming. That’s why we decided to pick a different place.

"Poor Care and No Help with Insurance at Splendor Oaks"

Sure, this place looks nice, but they don't take good care of the residents. My mom's hair wasn't washed or brushed and she hadn't been given a sponge bath. She looked poorly maintained. I happened to visit at lunch, and the staff was chatting with the residents. I later realized this was just an act. Plus, if you have any long-term care insurance, the person in charge at Splendor Oaks won't bother with any paperwork your insurance company requires. I asked for their help many times. Without the paperwork, your insurance claim won't get paid!

"Negligence and Care Discrepancies at Nora's Care Home"

I was really hopeful for my mom to be taken care of at Nora's Care Home. However, my hopes were shattered when suddenly altered the pricing, just 3 weeks in. She also regularly gave my mom two to three sleeping pills per day, as well as anxiety medication, and tried to convince me to accompany her to her so-called "rehab” classes. However, what was agreed upon was for my mom to be driven by her to the doctor in her Lexus and to collect my mom's medications. Instead, they left my poor mom in a mechanical lifting chair, unsupervised, and concealed the control in the cushion. You'd think the wiser option would be to disconnect it. My mom, believing the remote was for the TV, unwittingly caused the chair to throw her out, resulting in a broken hip and arm, necessitating three metal posts to be inserted in her hip. The surgery was completed before they even bothered to notify me. The following week, she shifted a prescription to a far-off location, then called to advise me to pick up the medicine moments before the pharmacy closed on Friday. To further complicate matters, she left my mom at the emergency room, again without informing me. The hospital phoned me around 3:30, baffled as to why my mom was there. I then had to relocate the prescription to a closer venue. This medication wasn't even a painkiller or Alzheimer's drug, but a cholesterol medicine.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living"

The staff is friendly, but the rooms are cramped and communication could be better.

"Not Ideal for Mom’s Needs"

I quite liked this place. It seemed well-organized and caring. The residents were diverse and active. However, I didn’t pick it because it lacked the privacy and independence my mom desires, nor would it address the companion issue.
