"Affordable, clean, safe, with limited activities but friendly staff."

My mom lives in this place. It's always super clean and she gets good care. I feel like she's safe there. The food smells great when I visit, and the staff is nice and answers my questions. They don't have a ton of stuff to do, just Bingo, but my mom also goes to another place a few times a week. The outside area looks nice and is safe with a gate. It's a good deal for the money. If you want more activities and fancy things, you'd have to pay more. I looked around, and this is the best place we could find for what we can afford.

"Avoid this Home: Limited Activities, Bad Food, Non-English Speaking Staff"

This place is really bad. Seriously, don't bring your family members here. The Caregivers and Housekeepers can't even talk or comprehend English. The food isn't good at all. It's given to Oak Hill, so most of it is stuff from cans or has been frozen. There's nothing to do but play Bingo. Just like the other person who left a review said, if your relative doesn't understand what's happening around them, this place might be somewhat bearable. Please, look for another place!

"Unsatisfactory facility, wouldn't recommend."

Our time here was totally disappointing. I wasn't satisfied with any part of this place, and I felt like my family member wasn't properly looked after. I wouldn't suggest this facility.

"Oak Hill Nursing Home Lacks Essential Care and Activities"

Oak Hill Nursing Home, Escondido, was clean, but that's about all I can say. The rest was less than desirable. I wouldn't suggest sending anyone you deeply care for to this facility. Trust me, it's better to steer clear! Here's why: Residents have to share rooms, they're almost identical to those hospital two-bed rooms. Not exactly a home-like environment. And the language barrier between residents and caretakers? Absolutely abysmal. It's hard to communicate when many caretakers hardly speak English. Then there's the case of nurses who make themselves hard to find. Additionally, it seems like the same caretakers double as janitorial staff, which makes me seriously question their qualifications. And there's hardly any entertaining or stimulating activities for residents apart from the occasional bingo game. My own loved one is pretty sharp, but they keep her stuck in a building with others who aren't. There's always some resident shouting down the hallway out of confusion, disturbing the peace of others. It's both heartbreaking and unsettling. If your loved one is severely affected by memory ailments such as dementia or Alzheimer's, and is usually disoriented, then maybe, just maybe, this facility might be okay. But if your loved one is still mentally alert, this facility isn't up to par. They certainly won't flourish here at Oak Hill. The lack of attention to respect, engaging activities, socialization, and compassionate care may even fast forward their decline. I guarantee there are better alternatives in Escondido for your dear one.

"Great staff and info, but few activities at Oak Hill"

The only bad thing about Oak Hill is that it doesn’t have many activities. But it’s clean, bright, and the staff is wonderful. I even met the owner during my tour, and he was really helpful. He gave me a lot of information and told me about the Assisted Living Waiver Program, which will help with costs. This is one of the main reasons I’m thinking about moving my grandmother here.

"Convenient and Welcoming Assisted Living Facility in Our Mother's Neighborhood"

We liked meeting the staff and seeing the place. It's nice that it's close to where our mom lives. We're glad they take MediCal.

"Mom's Happy at New Assisted Living Facility Great Food"

Even though Mom has only been at the residential center for a week, she’s settling in well. The caretakers are very kind, and the food is great.
