"Questionable Staffing and Safety Issues at Oakmont Assisted Living"

We had to relocate our great-grandfather who was 100 years old from this place after two years. It was tough for him. This Oakmont facility cannot keep its employees. Strangely, they promoted the maintenance manager to the head of the memory care unit. The staff were not prompt in responding to call lights. Other residents under memory care would stroll into others' rooms without permission. One resident with memory issues managed to get out of the facility several times. My sister once found him on the road a few miles away and realized he was a resident. The director failed to address our complaints effectively. We were billed dollars each month for all this poor service, but for what?

"Well-trained staff listen to and act on family concerns"

They have lots of staff to help the residents. The staff are well-trained, listen to family concerns, and actually act on them when they can.

"Mixed Experience at Oakmont Carmichael Assisted Living"

My mom stayed at Oakmont Carmichael. I moved her out because of a nurse there Carmichael. She's not a top-level nurse (RN), just a lower-level one (LVN), and she doesn't have much experience. She didn't take good care of my mom, lied about what she did for her, and didn't follow some important rules. The boss person there, the Executive Director, ignores families who ask questions. She doesn't reply to calls or emails, and she avoids you if there's a problem. My mom didn't get good medical care from the nurse. Most of the care staff were great, except for a few bad ones. But the person in charge of traditions now is really good. She's the first one who has cared about both the people living there and their families. I hope the people who run the building, the Executive Director, and the nurse get better.

"Poor Administration and Medical Care at Oakmont Carmichael"

My mom was recently at Oakmont Carmichael and I had to take her out mainly because of the Carmichael Nurse. She's an LVN and not an RN, and her lack of nursing experience showed. She didn't adequately tend to my mom's needs and was dishonest about the care she provided. Moreover, she didn't adhere to the rules set by Title 22. The Executive Director is no better, often shunning family members who raise concerns. She is unresponsive to calls or emails and deliberately avoids interaction when she's aware of a problem. The medical care under this nurse was tough on my mom. However, I must commend most of the support staff who were exceptional, except for a few who were not up to par. I have high praise for the person now in charge of traditions. She has shown genuine concern for the residents and their families. I hope and pray that the building management, ED and LVN improves soon.

"Great Assisted Living Choice!"

The assisted living facility was really nice. Everything—the people, activities, and layout—was excellent. It's a bit expensive for us, but if you can afford it, it's a fantastic option.

"Friendly Staff and Delicious Food at Oakmont of Carmichael"

In the past year, I’ve visited friends who live here and have always been impressed with how friendly the staff is. Because of this, I booked dinner for six nonresidents in a private dining room. The atmosphere was fancy, the food was tasty, and the service was very attentive. Even the chef came by to explain the courses. It was a very nice experience overall!

"Friendly staff and engaging activities"

The people here are really friendly and nice, both the residents and the staff. The staff care a lot and make us feel like part of their family. I like the veterans group, and a very lively activities director.

"Bright, New Assisted Living with Spacious Rooms and Amenities"

This place is pretty new, so it looks and feels fresh. The colors are cheerful, making it feel open. The rooms are a bit bigger than where my mom stays now, which could be good. There's even a cute coffee shop on the first floor. It's a bit closer to me, which is nice. But it costs more. Maybe it's worth it if my mom likes the bigger room.

"Mixed Feelings about Assisted Living Facility Tour"

The staff did a really good job during our tour. They took their time showing us everything and answered all our questions. The community looked very nice, and they have lots of things for the people who live there. But my dad liked another place better that we visited before.

"Lovely Community"

The staff did an awesome job during our tour. They took their time showing us around, answered all our questions, and the community was really nice. However, Dad preferred another place.

"Better honesty needed from the start"

I feel like the bosses should really talk plain and straight when you first meet them, not just make everything look great. If they kept the same people helping out, things might be better. The helpers with my mom do a real good job though. My mom thinks the food tastes kind of the same, but she still eats it. I think the main problem is with the big guys in charge, not the everyday workers. Right now, I don't know if I'd tell someone else to choose Oakmont of Carmichael.

"A Look Inside Assisted Living"

I visited this place. The people were friendly and helpful. They answered my questions about how they take care of everyone. They offer many things to do, but not many people seem to join in. The place looks really clean and well-kept. They have a good menu. I think this place is worth checking out.

"A Good Choice for Others"

I liked this community—it was my first choice. The staff was great, and the place was clean and nice. Although we couldn't get in at the time, I now realize we made a good decision.

"Outstanding Care and Support at Oakmont Assisted Living"

I can't say enough good things about Oakmont. Their staff always goes above and beyond to care for my mother. They know a lot about different kinds of dementia, which helps them understand both the needs of the residents and their families. Their careful attention to detail not only improves care for the residents but also gives families useful information, making it easier to handle the disease.

"Ideal for Active, Independent Seniors, Not for Those Needing Care!"

Oakmont is undeniably a gorgeous place! The inside and outside are kept up nicely. I would say it's great for older folks who can do a lot on their own and want a break from doing things like cooking and cleaning. But it might not be the best fit for folks who need more help or close attention since they don't have a lot of staff. In the over one year my parents stayed there, people who worked there would come and go a lot. For people who need more care and attention, I can't suggest Oakmont. My parents needed more help than what Oakmont could offer and they were often unsupervised. It just wasn't the right place for them. I'm not saying Oakmont didn't care, just that it wasn't the best match for my parents.

"Mom's doing great at Oakmont!"

Mom has settled in well at Oakmont of Carmichael. Since moving in, she seems pretty happy with everything. The staff are professional and eager to make sure the residents are comfortable. Oakmont is very clean, with no strong odors, which is nice! Mom likes the food and has even joined a few activities since she got here.

"Hard to Judge Right Now"

It’s hard to say because I don’t have anything to compare it to. It really depends on each resident and their needs. So, it wouldn’t be fair to comment right now. From what I’ve researched, all the facilities seem about the same.

"Couldn't choose due to no availability, but nice place."

We visited this place while searching. It seemed nice and not too expensive. But, they didn't have any available rooms then. I didn't inspect it closely because without openings, it wasn't a real choice for us.

"Wonderful, Caring Facility with Amazing Staff and Great Amenities"

We moved our parents into a two-bedroom, two-bath apartment. It’s beautiful, spacious, and has lots of storage. With 10-foot ceilings, a huge closet, and is very wheelchair friendly, it feels like home with its own doorbell. The staff is fantastic! They respond quickly, check in even without being called, and are always cheerful and ready to help, even if Mom is a bit cranky. They greet everyone and help with anything needed. The medical staff is great, always making sure our parents’ needs are met. Medicines are given on time, and it’s comforting to know they’re cared for by kind, knowledgeable people. If anything special comes up, they call us right away. The theater room has a big HD screen, comfy seating, and popcorn. Movies play daily, and you can bring your own DVD or pick from options like Netflix. There are lots of activities and field trips, like church or shopping. The grounds are well-maintained, with relaxing spots, a dog-friendly park, and raised gardens for those who want to garden. There’s a café area with fruits, snacks, and fresh cookies always available for free. The food is amazing, prepared by a top chef with daily specials and many options. Each meal is made to order, and they always aim to please. I couldn’t be happier knowing my loved ones are in such a beautiful, caring place. They are safe, happy, and well cared for, which is very important to me.

"Oakmont of Carmichael: Five-Star Care, Food, and Staff"

My parents moved into Oakmont of Carmichael, and they couldn't be happier. The staff responds quickly, provides excellent care, and the food is top-notch. They have lots of activities to keep everyone involved and excited. My mom uses a wheelchair, and it's hard for us to get her around, but Oakmont made it possible for her to go to a concert. They even have a special exercise machine she can use from her wheelchair, and staff helps her with it to keep her safe. The food is fantastic—the chef makes a new soup every day, and the specials are amazing. Plus, they offer a "We will make whatever you would like" option, which means endless choices. They even roast their own chickens and smoke salmon on-site. The staff is super friendly and goes above and beyond, from the welcoming staff at the door to the maintenance crew, directors, and medical team. My parents have pendants and call buttons for anything they need, including water. They also have a fall detector with a locator, so they can be found if needed (I found them watching a movie in the amazing theater last week). The apartments are spacious, bright, and have plenty of storage, with high ceilings and easy-access showers. I could go on about all the great things at Oakmont of Carmichael, but I need to get back to work. I feel great knowing my parents are in such good, safe, and caring hands. And did I mention the fresh cookies available 24/7? It’s a great treat every time I visit!

"Amazing Care and Support for Mom"

The manager and his team have been amazing with my mom. They’ve helped with everything and made the move in smooth and friendly. The staff is always around, helping and smiling. The manager is there early and late, helping and calming my mom better than I can! She texts me about everything, like the singer that came by and more. She’s so happy! Awesome!
