"Friendly Staff and Beautiful Facility, Some Activity and Food Limitations"
The staff is really nice and helpful. The place looks really nice. I wish there were more things to do for people who need help with their memory. There are lots of things to do for people who need a little help. They can't have as many activities because some people can't do as much. It took us a little while to figure out who to talk to for different things we need. Once we knew that, things got a lot better. Everyone really does want to help though. The staff is always friendly. They seem like they really want to help our family with what we need. There aren't as many choices for food for people who need help with their memory as there are for people who need a little help. We are still figuring that out but our dad seems happy with it.

"Communication needs improvement. Medication notice inconsistent. Apartment cleanliness lacking."
The assisted living facility could do better at keeping us in the loop about important things like medications. Sometimes they give us notice about it, but it's not always consistent. Also, my loved one's apartment doesn't seem to be cleaned very well; it looks like they just quickly tidied up without doing a thorough job.

"Satisfied Visit to Oakmont of Folsom"
I had a really good tour at Oakmont of Folsom. Everything was nice and I didn't have any issues. The only reason we didn't choose it was because it was farther away, so we picked another Oakmont place. But this one seemed really nice too!

"Frustrating Wait Times and Communication Issues at Assisted Living Facility"
I hate listening to the sales pitch every time I call. It feels like forever! And then, they say I can't talk to my mom most times. It only works about once in five tries.

"Clean, Organized, and Great Food Options!"
The place is really nice, clean, and well-organized. There are lots of activities. The person who gave us the tour said they serve three meals a day plus snacks. The menu looks very good and has a lot of options.

"Friendly and Helpful Staff"
When I was looking for a place for my mom, this was the first community I visited, and I was really impressed. They gave me legal and financial info, even if it wasn’t about their place. They gave me more info than any other place I saw. The staff was amazing, and I was most impressed by how they knew each resident’s name. They treated them like family, not just numbers. It was super clean and fancy. Everyone was so helpful and nice. They even had fresh baked cookies!

"Not the Right Fit"
As we checked out different places, we took a tour of this community. It was okay, and we got to see the place. We needed to move in quickly, but they weren’t prepared for us. Thankfully, nothing bad happened during our visit.

"First-class care, clean, and great staff and activities!"
This place is amazing! The staff is kind and caring, and the food is top-notch. The activities and movie theater are a lot of fun. My mom, who is 87 and uses a wheelchair, moved in February and loves it here. The facility is clean and doesn’t have that musty smell like other places. If I ever need help with daily living, this is where I’ll go!

"Great place, but too pricey for my mom's budget!"
This place was awesome! It was one of my top picks from all the places I checked out. The building and surroundings were really nice, and I liked how the rooms were set up. They had meals planned out and lots of fun activities for everyone during the week, which I thought was really cool. Overall, it was a great spot with lots to offer, but unfortunately, it was too expensive for my mom.

"Beautiful and Caring Facility - Folsom, CA"
The place is really beautiful. The staff is very caring. I was really impressed with the Memory Care Director and Activity Director. She is the reason I decided to place my husband there. She is enthusiastic, loving, caring, and very devoted to her work. The caregivers are also very devoted to the residents and have great attitudes, even in messy situations.

"Expensive!"
I’d already paid a deposit, and they had a room available at this place. But after talking to my dad, he thought it was too pricey. The place is lovely, and I can’t imagine anything negative about it. The apartments look great and feel very comfortable.

Staff is friendly, caring, and attentive. I like the dining room and flexible dining times. The menu is nice, and the food is mostly good. Friday entertainment is enjoyable. It would be great to have more diverse activities for different cognitive levels.

"Glossy Facility Belies Subpar Care; Beware Staff Inadequacies"
Don't let the smooth talk and fancy new buildings trick you. The care they gave our person wasn't up to par. Every time I was there, he didn't have his glasses or hearing aids on. One time, I found him at the dinner table without his false teeth in, just waiting for his food. Some of the people there who need more care go into other people's rooms. The staff's answer is to lock the rooms, instead of watching the ones who are wandering around. They don't have emergency cords and don't give the people living there alert buttons to wear. They told me their way of watching is with motion sensors in the rooms. How does that help if someone falls and can't stand back up? The people in charge don't seem to care about problems and they don't call back. And I don't think the staff got enough training or someone watching over them. We couldn't put up with this for more than 3 weeks and took our loved one out. We couldn't believe this was their idea of okay care. Paying wasn't a problem, we were okay paying what they asked. But bad care was something we just couldn't stand. We moved to a new place and they handle all these problems way better. We're super happy there.

""Oakmont: Beautiful But Bonded by Poor Service""
We moved my dad out of Oakmont recently. On first appearances Oakmont looks amazing. We fell for it. Sadly, it didn't meet our expectations. Here are a few reasons why. Firstly, job turnover is a huge problem. The place hasn't even been open for a year and is already on its fourth general manager. The memory care section is looking for its third manager. Each time we faced a new person taking care of my dad, who knew nothing about him. Secondly, they pride themselves on the pendant system. It's designed so residents can get assistance at a click of a button. Except it never worked. We tried it numerous times and no one ever came. One time, a caregiver admitted to us that he sometimes ignores the call as they get so many alerts. Another time, no one was even wearing the pager to get the alerts, it was left in the office. It's turned the system into a joke. They also deceived us about the company ownership. The sales rep claimed that it's a family-oriented business, not a huge corporation. We soon found out it’s the opposite. We would suggest services, only to be told that these ideas were against "corporate policy". For example, we couldn't even buy a bed alarm pager for my dad, as it was against their corporate policy. Their communication was also very poor. Despite us giving clear care instructions multiple times, no one ever seemed to know. With new employees popping up constantly, we had to keep explaining things. The design of the memory care area is poor. There's a set of large doors which seem to attract residents, and an alarm goes off whenever they try to open them. Caregivers spend too much time dealing with these alarms instead of caring for the residents. We were also disappointed by their activity calendar. Instead of engaging activities, the residents were just sitting and watching exercise videos, not participating. Many other issues annoyed us, like the laundry service ruining clothes and used adult diapers being left out in my dad's room. Often, my dad would be wandering around without his glasses. Stuff would go missing from his room too. It's really sad because there are some great caregivers here. They work hard and are very sweet. The place itself is also beautiful. However, with high staff turnover and corporate restrictions, they have a hard job. All in all, it wasn't the best place for my dad. Oakmont seems like it could be great, but it let us and my dad down.

"Apartments Inadequate and Overpriced for Needed Care"
I wasn't a fan of the apartments. They weren't designed for the care that she requires. Plus, it was extremely costly, and I couldn't even get a proper quote for her needed care. Regretfully, it just didn't feel right to me.
