"Mixed Experience: Good Care, Mediocre Food"

It feels like they take good care of the residents, and the place is clean. But sometimes, caregivers don't respond promptly when called, and the food isn't tasty—it's too greasy.

"Helpful staff, great facilities"

I would recommend this place for both assisted living and memory care. The staff has helped us through the difficult healthcare system and met my father's needs. I took a tour and found no problems with the facilities.

"Palmcrest wrongfully transfers fall-risk patient, provides no support"

My mom's significant other, was moved from a different center after falling. A woman from Palmcrest assessed him at the other center and gave him the OK to be transferred. Even though she saw him, was aware of his condition, interacted with him, and knew about the bright yellow bracelet tagging him as a "FALL RISK". We paid for move to Palmcrest around. By that afternoon, we were informed he couldn't stay and had to leave that night. The main administrator told us the owner wouldn't permit to stay because he could fall- a detail that was in his file from the start. After hours of crying and phone calls, we decided to take him home ourselves. To a two-story house. In my personal car. Nobody from Palmcrest offered even a tiny bit of help with arranging transport. Every medical professional we have told about this ordeal was horrified and expressed contempt for the blatant mistakes made by Palmcrest.

"Great Care but Communication Could Improve"

My loved one is staying at Palmcrest Grand Retirement. I would recommend this place, but their general communication with the family is probably a 3 out of 5. If something is important, they let us know right away. Otherwise, you need to be more proactive. Whenever we have asked questions, we've gotten answers quickly, and the staff has always been very helpful.

"Feels like family—excited to choose Palmcrest for Grandma."

This is one of the best places I’ve found for my grandmother. The staff and managers are very friendly and professional, making it feel like family. I’m excited to make Palmcrest my grandmother’s new home.

"DISMAYINGLY POOR CARE AT THIS ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY"

This place is hands-down the worst possible choice for anyone you hold dear. I STILL FEEL GUILTY FOR PLACING MY BROTHER HERE FOR THREE MONTHS. The staff is indifferent, uncoordinated and overloaded with tasks. As a result, the living conditions are dismal – the residents suffer from inadequate care, insufficient soups, dehydration, frequent falls, and other issues. It's beyond belief what my poor brother had to go through. I urge you all: do not put your loved ones in this facility. You'll end up regretting it as much as I do now.

"A caring staff with enjoyable activities"

We appreciated the care during our short time here. The staff was kind and really helpful with his needs. He enjoyed the activities they had, which was nice. The only downside was that the community didn’t have much space for him to walk around. Overall, we would recommend this community for caring for a loved one.

"Needed: More Staff and Better Management!"

This place has some really kind and loving helpers taking care of the folks living there. It feels like there are way too many people for the number of helpers, so maybe they should hire more of them. They've got a great beauty salon for all the residents. The food's decent, and the place is nice and clean. However, I really wish they would replace the boss because she doesn't seem up to the job. She never picks up the phone or calls back. It seems like she doesn't tell the staff enough, and families aren't kept in the loop.

"Very Pleased with Palmcrest Grand’s Service and Comfort"

We helped our friend find Palmcrest Grand, and we were really impressed. They showed us everything—dining rooms, kitchen, game rooms, the reception area, where they give out medicine, the laundry, TV rooms, and even the movie theater. They had a semi-private room that fit his budget perfectly. He could bring some of his own furniture and has his own closet. After being there for about a month, he feels very comfortable and happy with his room, the staff, and all the activities he’s joined in.

"Friendly, professional staff and great care at Palm Crest"

The care at Palm Crest is wonderful. The administrators and assistants are friendly and professional, guiding you through everything. We were first told about Palm Crest by A PLACE FOR MOM and ended up loving it. It's clean, with always-present workers, and the staff takes great care of mom. The assistant is always ready to help, making sure mom goes to exercise classes and gets her meals on time. Mom is happy and enjoys her time at Palm Crest.

"Chaotic Management and Declining Services at Assisted Living Facility"

We've experienced some problems. The place is pretty chaotic and disorganized. It appears that the person in charge spends most of her time dealing with legal matters, and her assistant isn't friendly at all. Simple repairs that we've asked for haven't been taken care of, despite being here for several months. The meals have been subpar and they're getting even worse. The facility doesn't live up to how it advertised itself. It recently switched owners, which hasn't been a smooth process at all. Now, it looks like their main aim is to make money.

"Exceptional Staff Makes This Community Shine"

The staff here is amazing to work with. They're the best part of this community. The parking has a small issue, but we didn't really have any problems with the laundry service since my mother was only there briefly.

"Friend is happy and well here"

I helped my friend find a senior community, and he chose Palmcrest Grand. From what I’ve heard, they are doing a great job, and he’s much happier now!

"Budget-Friendly Assisted Living, but Expect Less Folksy Staff and Poor Food"

Many employees here don't speak fluent English. The meals they serve are similar to those in a low-end school cafeteria, and there's a lack of a worthwhile exercise program. However, if you're on a tight budget, this place fits the bill. With an extra $1,500, you can get a nicer place with a significantly better menu.

"Palmcrest: A Wonderful Place for Aunt Shirl"

I can’t think of a better place for my 92-year-old Aunt. I took care of her for the past year after my wife passed away, but my new job keeps me away from home a lot. The people at “A Place For Mom” and Palmcrest have been amazing and understood our needs right away. The owner is very kind and helpful. My Aunt seems happy in her new home and loves the meals. There are lots of activities if she wants to join in. The place is super clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. The only problem is the parking, but given the area, I don’t see an easy fix for that. I would definitely consider Palmcrest for myself when I retire.

"From Confusion to Support and Health"

I used to be confused and on my own in San Pedro, an art community. I needed help with support, orientation, health, and safety. Thanks to Palmcrest Grand and their support, including medication management, I can now rest, learn new things, and fully recover.

"Esther/Lima Assisted Living: Furnished but Outdated, No Phone/Cable."

The Esther/Lima joint room costs $1250 and comes with furnishings, meals, utilities, and activities. Residents also have access to laundry services, fresh linens, and housekeeping assistance. However, they don't provide a phone or cable service and you would need to pay extra to use the beauty salon. The maximum number of residents it can accommodate is unclear, but currently, it houses 182 people. The place sadly feels very old-fashioned and outdated.

"Best place I've ever lived!"

I love living at this facility! I've been here for over two years, and I've never been so happy. The staff is wonderful—they feel like my own children. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but Palmcrest Grand.

"Great staff, consistent care, loves breakfast, room service when sick"

My loved one has only good things to say. The staff has been great to her! She really likes the caregivers. They've been consistent, which is awesome! She's a bit picky about lunch, but she loves breakfast! If she's not feeling well, the staff brings food to her room, which is very nice.

"Wonderful Experience"

I placed my aunt at Palmcrest Grand Residence. From the moment I walked in, I noticed how clean and nice it is. I walked in without an appointment to get a tour. The admission coordinator came out with a big smile and gave me a tour. She explained all the services that would help my aunt. What made my decision final was how smooth and easy the move was for my aunt, especially since this is her first time away from home after losing her husband. I visit all the time, and the staff and administration always greet me and give me updates about my aunt. I totally recommend this place. You will be as happy as I am.

"Grateful for Excellent Care at Palmcrest Grand!"

I want to thank Palmcrest Grand for the amazing care my mother has received. The professionalism of the coordinator, activity director, and caretakers is top-notch. I’m extremely happy to have my mother here. I looked at many places, and Palmcrest Grand is far better than the rest. Finding a place that will take good care of a loved one can be stressful, especially when they are alone for the first time. It’s comforting to know that great care is being provided. On a personal note, I’ve met more kind people here than I have in many years, and it has renewed my faith in the goodness of people. Thanks again, Palmcrest.

"Perfect Place for My Mom to Fit Right In"

This seems like the perfect place for my mom. When I walked in, I noticed how lively everyone was. The facility was clean and had CCTV cameras in the hallways for security. There were living room areas to relax and watch TV. The rooms seemed like a good size to me. All the residents interacted well with the staff and each other. The facility has a diverse culture, which is important because my family is similar. My mom would fit in well here, and I’m excited to come back and tour it with her.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short in Comfort and Engagement"

That place seemed a bit scary. I wouldn't recommend it. Many folks there used wheelchairs and seemed out of touch. The rooms were tiny, like they used to be a hospital. The hallways were dark and really long. My mom wanted more company and activities. It felt like people were just left alone. The staff was nice, but the vibe wasn't for me.

"Mom’s doing well after 7 weeks, staff and activities are good"

So far, things are going well. Mom has been living there for 7 weeks. Everyone is very kind. I hope she starts enjoying the activities more. I’m not sure if the staff helps her get involved in crafts or if they leave it up to the residents.

"Brother's Uneasy Roommate Situation Mars Assisted Living Experience"

My brother's current situation in this place is kinda disappointing. In the beginning, I was super excited about it. The problem is, he was sharing a room and his roommate would be awake all night, affecting his sleep. They didn't solve the problem when we raised it. One time, the roommate caused their toilet to overflow all night, flooding their place. After that, they moved my brother to a smaller room. He thought he would be alone, but they moved that same roommate in with him. Weirdly, they later moved the guy back into the first room, which they said my brother couldn't move back to because it was taken. My brother was doing pretty well at first, but it feels like no one's paying attention to his sleeping problem. It's terrible not to get adequate sleep. We were over the moon when he first moved in. The facility is stunning, with heaps of activities. But, when there are complaints, it seems like they're not handled well. On the bright side, they have lots of fun social events. They even give out a few passes every month for shopping or doctor visits. The facility itself is pretty pleasing. It's been good for him to interact with the others who live there, except his roommate. I'm not saying it's a bad place or anything, just that this current situation isn't ideal. Hopefully, it gets resolved soon.

"Decent Staff But Disgusting Conditions and Terrible Management."

My grandma resided here... the staff are sweet, though untrained and rather nice. The management, however, is terrible. For a year, I stopped by 2-3 times a week. In that duration, we confronted continual issues with mice, roaches, an influx of crickets, and spiders. Despite our numerous complaints, no action was taken. Funny enough, everyone seems to catch the stomach bug all at once... you'd comprehend why if you ever peek into their cooking area. Who serves sour milk? And the salad bar... just plain gross. Meat that reeks of spoilage. Yuck... we're returning to Sunrise.

"Lovely Assisted Living Facility with Friendly Staff"

I really liked the assisted living place, but it was too expensive for my grandma. Everything was super clean and nice. The building was really pretty. Everyone there was really nice and answered our questions quickly.

"Disappointed by Manager's Absence and Unimpressive Facility"

The boss was absent even though they knew I was visiting. A cleaning person had to guide me. I wasn't thrilled by the rooms or the staff.

"Good for my husband"

My husband sometimes complains about the food, but I'm not sure how reliable he is, so you have to consider that. I can tell you that they really like using sauces instead of serving them on the side. They make sure he takes his meds and helps him with bathing. Overall, it's a good place for him because he needs assistance.

"Loved the place, the Director was awesome"

I loved this place! The Director was awesome and answered all my questions. They have lots of activities my mom would enjoy. Palmcrest Grand reminds me of the place we had her before it got too expensive. They have similar activities. They also have an Adult Day Care center, which I'm really interested in. My mom can start going there a few days a week to see how she likes it, and we can go from there.

"Suite and Services Available at Assisted Living Nearby 405 Freeway"

Suite with two bedrooms available 8 miles away at an assisted living facility. There's a beauty salon and a section dedicated for those dealing with memory issues, all on one floor. A skilled nursing facility is found next door. The place also has a small area for walks, situated near the 405 freeway.

"Clean, friendly, and accommodating assisted living facility tour experience!"

I visited this place on a whim. The Director was super smart and easy to chat with. Everything was really tidy, and the people living there seemed happy. The staff looked happy too and were eager to help visitors. The Director even followed up the next day like she said she would and gave me other suggestions when they found out I couldn't afford their place.

"Barely Adequate Facilities; Not Ideal for Dad"

The place was okay in terms of location. However, we didn’t have the opportunity to tour the rooms, although we saw the dining area and a few rooms. They are willing to accommodate him if his only source of income is Social Security. Overall, the place had an antiquated retirement home feel to it. I certainly wouldn’t want my father to reside here.
