Roseleaf Gardens Memory Care

"Assisted living didn't fit our needs, no VA benefits accepted."
I talked to them online, but it didn't seem right for us even after our first meeting. Plus, they don't take VA benefits. I'm still looking elsewhere.

"Residents Share Bathroom in Smaller Community"
I didn't like that residents had to share a bathroom in this smaller community.

"Friendly Assisted Living for Memory Issues"
The community is great for people with memory issues. It's a smaller place, and the food is good for residents. The aides are friendly.

"Mixed Experience: Phone Friendly, Tour Unwelcoming, Limited Services"
They were nice when we called, but not during the tour. They seemed bothered. We tried to stay fair. However, they didn't offer what my mom needed (a mix of independent/assisted living with access to memory care for her partner).

"Warning: Subpar Care and Neglect at Assisted Living Facility"
Stay away from here for your loved one's sake! First, don't tell the owners if you have Long Term Health Care insurance or any other insurance to help with room, board, and care costs. Seriously, if your relative has dementia, don’t bring them here. Other places properly care for dementia patients. Check out the State Licensing Board website and look at any complaints against the assisted living homes you're considering. I wish I'd known before subjecting my poor husband to this dreadful, poorly run, neglectful place. It broke my heart to find that even my husband, who's suffering from dementia, could tell that this place lacked adequate resources. His medication was handled improperly - I'd say overdosed - by the med techs. They gave him psychoactive drugs that left him in a state of dazedness and drooling. Even after his doctor ordered lower doses, the facility ignored it and continued to overmedicate him until I caught on. Neglect was also apparent in his basic care. He lost 30 pounds, hardly ate (I suspect because the drugs confused his hunger cues). Despite offering to pay for one-on-one meal help, no assistance was provided. After starting the strong meds, he started having incontinence issues, but instead of helping him, the caregivers pointed fingers at him. Blaming a dementia patient! No help was offered with hygiene, and the caregivers said it's because he refused help. But he has dementia! Caregivers are supposed to be compassionate and understand how to treat dementia patients with respect. But during my 7-hour visits, not once would a caregiver check on him, even after I asked the Care Coordinator for help during my visits. They claimed he didn’t want to go to the dining room, but when I asked or took him there, he had no issue. Even the cook's efforts didn't help the food situation. The food was so bad, he didn’t want to eat. It was only when I brought him food from outside that he ate. He only got showers when I visited and personally bathed him. They claimed he refused showers...but caregivers need to know how to navigate these things. Residents with dementia should be treated humanely. I have seen other residents there looking confused and lost. Please, if your loved one has dementia, DON'T take them here. Plenty of other places provide proper care for dementia patients. Check the State Licensing Board for complaints before you choose a facility. I'll always regret moving my husband into this terribly managed, neglectful place. Time and space fail me to discuss all the neglect he experienced. If you care about your loved one, choose somewhere else.

"Assisted Living Review: Clean Grounds, Some Odor Issues"
The place had nice gates and kept them neat. The rooms were okay, tidy, and didn’t smell weird. But, I noticed a few folks who needed their diapers changed before lunch.

"All-Time Worst Assisted Living Facility"
The owner is terrible and only thinks about herself, not her patients' health. The place looks old and sad, and no one takes care of it. The staff don't want to do their jobs because the boss doesn't care. If you love your mom or dad, don't let them live in such an awful place.

"Neglected Residents and Distracted Staff at Assisted Living Facility"
One could smell urine, and the staff were distracted by their phones while an elderly woman needed assistance and an older man wandered with damp trousers. It was disappointing to witness this neglect. A few staff members did pay attention, but most seemed to be immature individuals with zero compassion, more interested in their smartphones. I wouldn't want a loved one in this place. The owners were friendly and gave the impression of caring, but the actions of their employees, along with the uncleanliness and the smell, suggest they might not care as much as they profess.

"Neglectful Staff and Poor Sanitation at Assisted Living Facility"
The place had a strong smell of pee. Staff members were busy on their mobiles even when an old lady shouted for help and an elderly man walked about in wet clothes. It was heartbreaking to witness such neglect. A few staff members seemed alert, but most acted like uncaring teenagers just messing around on their phones. I wouldn't wish for any relative to stay here. The owners came across as friendly and well-intentioned, but their actions exposed their indifference, evident in the untidiness and foul smell of the place. Their words didn't match up to their deeds.

"Great activities and staff that truly care about residents."
This is a great place with lots of fun activities. They focus on making the facility work for each person. If there's a problem, they work hard to fix it. Unlike some places, they don't give up on residents. The activities are awesome, and the staff warmly welcome family and friends.

"Clean and well-cared-for, but too expensive and activities lacking"
I would not recommend this place because it is too expensive. It leaves people paying a high cost. However, it is a very clean facility. I rated the property 5 stars, and I also rated the cleanliness 5 stars. I gave the care services a 5-star rating too, but I rated the activities a 3.
