"Concerns Raised about Assisted Living Facility's Care Standards"
We reached out to this assisted living company in April. Their La Habra homes said they had no free rooms. However, their other home in Placentia did. We checked again in August and still there were no rooms available. This seemed odd to me because both of their La Habra properties have six rooms each. On the other hand, they only had two residents in their Placentia place, which also has six rooms. I had some doubts so I decided to drop by their two locations in La Habra. No one answered the door at the first place, and the area looked empty. I then went to their second home and met a friendly elderly Asian couple. They were nice, but their home smelled strongly of a fish dish they cooked earlier, and the smell was quite unpleasant. The home was neat but outdated. I was shown a room that had two empty beds. Across from it there was a bathroom that looked like it needed cleaning. The couple asked about my grandma's size, I assume because they are the caregivers. They were much older and smaller than the average caregiver. I don't think they could safely help move my grandma since she weighs around 85 pounds. They were kind, but seemed physically unfit for strenuous caregiver tasks. I noticed there were no boxes of gloves or garbage cans in any of the rooms. Gloves are crucial in medical settings as they're often changed several times while providing patient care to prevent spreading germs. Even dental offices cover chairs, so it's alarming to see no gloves used here. Additionally, no one had signed in or out on the visitors log, suggesting there weren't any visitors, which is concerning.

"Positive Staff, Yet Doubts Linger Over Assisted Living Facilities"
We reached out to the operators of this facility back in April. They told us there were no available spots in their La Habra locations. Despite having two homes with a total of 12 beds, they claimed all were filled. We were told there were only openings at their Placentia location. This puzzled us since they only had two residents in a location with six beds. We reached back out in August and received the same information. Wanting to confirm, I decided to visit both La Habra locations unannounced. The first property was silent and there were no cars around. The second home was staffed by an older couple of Asian descent. Their reception was warm and inviting, although the cooking odors in the home were rather off-putting. The place was neat and tidy despite being old-fashioned. They showed me a room with two free beds and sorely mismatched bathroom facilities. Although the pair seemed pleasant, I got the impression that their age and slight build were not suited for the duties of a caregiver. I was seriously concerned about their ability to safely take care of my elderly and rather frail grandmother. To my surprise, I found no gloves or garbage cans in any of the rooms. As anyone in the medical field knows, gloves are changed several times during routine patient care to minimize the risk of germ transmission. Also, I noticed there were no records of any visitors in and out of the facility, which seemed out of the ordinary.

This place is really great! It’s always clean and in good shape, and the staff always help with my loved one’s needs and requests. Even though my loved one is picky about food, there are lots of healthy choices available. We knew this was the best place for my loved one, and we were right!

"Great value with comforting care and a homey feel."
Here’s the rewritten review: This place was a great value compared to others. She really enjoyed the food, I’d rate it a four. I can’t think of anything they could have done better. We were very happy with the care she received; they worked hard to meet her needs. We chose this place because of the nice, clean neighborhood with well-kept houses. When I walked in, it felt cozy and homey, not clinical at all. The administrator welcomed us; they were very friendly and listened to our concerns. The facility was clean and smelled fresh. They maintained her dignity all the way to her last moments, which was very comforting.
