"Caring Staff at Ivy Park La Jolla Ensures Comfort for Father"
The Ivy Park La Jolla staff truly cares about memory care residents. As our family doesn’t live nearby, we rely on them to take care of our father. It’s a comfortable place for him.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The place had good points for our family and loved ones. It would help if they were clearer about costs and how they set care fees. It's in a handy location and a smaller community, which is nice. But the food wasn't enjoyed by my loved ones. They found it dull and hard to eat sometimes. They serve three meals daily to residents.

"Mixed Experience with Communication and Staff Changes"
We picked this place because they allowed Mom to bring her cat, which meant a lot to her. The staff who worked directly with residents were excellent. However, there were frequent changes in administrative roles during Mom’s stay. This sometimes led to communication gaps between the hands-on staff and management. I often had to be proactive about addressing issues since they weren’t promptly resolved.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
Mornings care good, nights need improvement. New director helps. Temps untrained, regular staff better. Meals vary but improving. Activities lacking. Cost value good. Temp agency hiring criticized. Improvements noted with new director's arrival.

"Friendly Community with Daily Activities"
I chose this place for my family member because everyone was so friendly when I visited. They offer educational activities, games, and other things to keep residents busy. There are about three activities scheduled every day.

"Friendly Atmosphere and Clean Facility with Reliable Transportation, Recommended for Others"
This community has good transportation and is very clean. The atmosphere is friendly, and the staff are nice. It would be better if they responded quicker to call buttons. Overall, based on my experience, I would recommend this community to others.

"Mixed feelings about Sunrise of La Jolla"
I didn't like Sunrise of La Jolla much. They had problems with billing—they'd often charge me twice and take forever to fix it. The people in charge of money wouldn't pick up the phone, and when they finally did, they were rude. The care was alright, with kind and caring staff, but nothing extraordinary.

"Stay Clear of Sunrise of La Jolla! Neglect and Overpriced!"
Beware of this place. My mom moved in there, using a walker, last July. By March, she couldn't move at all and had a bedsore! They gave her an insane amount of risky medications, making it impossible for her to think clearly or even maintain a simple conversation. Given its high price, such kind of service in La Jolla's priciest assisted living is absolutely not acceptable. They don't keep the rooms clean and the care staff is overburdened. At night, only 2 caregivers attend to residents on two floors. When my mom pressed her call button for restroom help, response times ranged from 30-50 minutes or even more. On her very first night, she had to dial 9-1-1 herself as the helpline was no use and it was a scary situation for her. We later learned that many residents resort to calling 9-1-1 or shouting out for help because of the lack of adequate staff. The administration continuously lies and asks for more money even when they admit to failing in their duties. These administrators scared my mom with their lies and rude behavior towards her and my family. All the beautiful services they boast about at the beginning turn out to be empty promises. We had to fight to get the calming baths with music and candles they advertised. The only silver lining is the caregiver staff who are caring yet overworked and doing their best despite the shortage. We eventually moved my mom to a better place where she's regaining mobility although the damage caused by Sunrise may mean she'll never walk again. She's now off the heavy medication, conversing happily on various topics, and has regained her memory, thank God! Her doctor and physical therapist are shocked at her transformation. Nevertheless, Sunrise of La Jolla caused my mom lasting damage and brought pain and suffering to her and our family that was definitely preventable. We initially thought we'd made a good choice but it turned out to be a horrible mistake. We met others who reported similar issues with Sunrise after we left. NEVER send your dear ones to this dreadful place!

"Caring and Compassionate Staff"
My dad spent the last three months of his life at Sunrise La Jolla in their Memory Care floor, which they call the "Reminisce Neighborhood." It was hard for my mom to decide to move him there, but his needs were too much for her, even with our help. Several of us visited Sunrise La Jolla to see if it was a good place for Dad, who we all loved very much. What we saw made the decision easy. We found the right place for Dad. The staff was dedicated and interacted well with the residents, who seemed happy, well-cared for, and safe. We saw this level of care every time we visited Dad, often without warning. Sunrise encourages family and friends to visit anytime, and we were always welcome. The care, respect, and compassion the staff showed our Dad were amazing, and we are very grateful to have found such a place.

The tour was okay, but the place looked tired and small. It smelled really bad, so my mom wouldn't be comfortable here.

"Warm and Welcoming Assisted Living with Excellent Care and Amenities"
We really like how they take care of my dad at Sunrise at La Jolla. The place is super clean and tidy. It feels cozy when we walk in. The boss is always nice and greets us warmly. The workers are friendly too and they make sure my dad gets what he needs. We can talk to them easily about anything we're worried about. The food is amazing, like top-notch. They have lots of fun things for residents to do, and the staff always cheer them on to join. Dad can enjoy the outdoors on the patios. I think others should check this place out too.

"Clean and Friendly Assisted Living with Room for Improvement"
This place is nice and tidy for families needing assisted living help. My mom didn't need this kind of care. The staff were friendly and answered our questions. They offered us a snack, but we said no. They had activities that seemed like exercises. I think they could offer more variety for those who want to join in. We were happy with how clean it was. I'd suggest families check it out to see if it fits what they need.

"Great staff and clean place!"
The staff at Sunrise were great and very helpful. The food was tasty, and the place was always clean. My loved one was here for a short time because we wanted her closer, so we moved her to another place. I have no complaints about this community.

"Nice place, friendly staff; pricing could be more transparent."
Our experience with Sunrise of La Jolla has been pretty good overall. The facility is really nice, and all the aides and caregivers are friendly and work hard to take care of the residents. I did have a few problems with their medication service at first and had to sort some things out myself, but it got better. I wish they had been more clear about their pricing before we moved our loved one in. It seemed like it would be around the same price as the last place, but there were a lot of extra fees they didn't mention that ended up adding to our bill.

"Friendly Staff, Pricey Commute"
Wow, the tour was great! The place felt nice, and they had lots of cool stuff. The staff were friendly, but it's a bit expensive. Also, the location in Pacific Beach means a longer drive.

"The transition has been rocky, but they are nice and caring."
They're doing a good job, but there are some things that aren't quite what I hoped. The staff isn't as well-staffed as expected, especially during flu season. New people come and go, which can be frustrating. However, they're working on it, and I appreciate their caring and well-intentioned attitude. The cleaning and laundry have had some issues, especially in private areas. Overall, it's been a bit rocky during this transition.

"Small Facility, Limited Services, Uncertain Staff Certifications; Near Pacific Beach"
The facility was smaller than most, with no outdoor areas for residents to stroll or swim. There wasn't a big variety for lunch, though the veggies were fresh. During my visit, no activities were taking place. They bill separately for each service, and they don't offer fully furnished temporary stay rooms. Their staff gets training at 'Sunrise University' for 40 hours, but it's unclear if they are certified. There wasn't much underground parking. It's closer to Pacific Beach rather than La Jolla too.
