"Ivy Park Memory Care: Looks Good, But Suffers in Care"
Wouldn't even award one star to this memory care center. Sure, it's a beautiful assisted living place–great apartments and shared spaces. But I'm talking about the memory care side, which should get no stars. My Dad, who has Alzheimer's, moved in last November. They messed up and didn't give him his medicine for a whole day. Without his meds he had a mental breakdown and needed to go to the hospital. He stayed there for 3 weeks to recover. Now, he's in a residential care place where they actually take care of him. The memory care at Ivy Park doesn't have enough workers and the ones there don't have enough experience. The place changed hands recently (July 2023) and the care quality isn't like other places. If you're thinking about Ivy Park for a loved one with dementia, do your homework. Don't just go for the nice setting and good food. What people with dementia really need is top-notch staff. Ivy Park just doesn't have that.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The staff is nice and caring, but there aren't enough caregivers. My mom's apartment often stays dirty due to staffing problems.

""Neglected care, inexperienced staff at visually appealing facility.""
We need to stay away our family member from this place after just a few days, because there was truly no care provided at all. It appears they did not help our loved one with basic necessities like bathing, changing into clean clothes or brushing her teeth and hair. Regrettably, we were initially dazzled by the facility's appearance and overlooked the actual quality of care. They were understaffed and seemed to be filling gaps with new recruits who, although polite, lacked the necessary experience to properly take care of old people.

"Sunrise Senior Living: Caring, attentive, and loving staff."
My dear friend [name] passed away at Sunrise Senior Living in Monterey on Friday, March 2. She was 100 years old and moved into Sunrise at 99. She always said she had all her marbles. I want to thank every staff member at Sunrise for their love and care of [name]. I spent a lot of time with [name]. I was there when caregivers came and went from her room, brought her daily medications, took her to the dining room, helped her shower, and brought her favorite strawberry ice cream. I was there when she was failing, and nurse [name] stayed by her side through the night, or had other caregivers check on [name] every 30 minutes. [Name] loved it at Sunrise and often told me, "Everyone is so nice here." I wish I could name all of you, but there are so many hardworking employees: [names], [name], "the drug lady," [names]. I'm forgetting so many. If you have a loved one and are looking at care facilities, Sunrise is your home. Thank you, Sunrise, for taking such good care of my dear friend. I will never forget.

"Mixed Feelings About Sunrise Assisted Living"
I visited Sunrise for my family member, and I felt the community was decent. The staff was friendly and helpful, but there weren't many amenities, and the food wasn't great. It's an older place, and the apartments were a bit small and not as nice as we expected.

"Solid Start for Dad at Sunrise Assisted Living"
My dad is doing well here at Sunrise. He's still getting used to living in the community. The place is nice and very clean. The staff has been helpful and kind to us, which makes the transition easy for my dad. There are activities he hasn't tried yet, but they seem good. The food is good too, and he enjoys it. Overall, my experience with the community has been good so far.

"Nice community with friendly staff, but a bit expensive"
The Sunrise of Monterey is a nice place. The only small problems I have are that it's expensive, and I wish my mom could get her supplements and medications when she wants. Overall, it's been a good experience. The facility is very clean. The staff is very friendly and nice. The care services are good, and they offer a variety of activities for the residents. The value could be better.

"Great staff but needs more follow-up and mental health support"
They do a great job overall. The staff is really nice, but sometimes they don’t always follow through. Little details and special care can sometimes be missed, and they’ve promised things that didn’t happen. The food is okay, about a four out of five. It would be great if they had a massage therapist available. I also wish there was more support for mental health. There should be mandatory counseling to help with the big change and emotional stress of moving. It feels like residents are just left to adjust on their own, and no community seems to address this well. It would be helpful to have someone to talk to for support during this transition.

"Poor Communication, Safety Concerns, High Costs: Disappointing Assisted Living Facility"
My mom lived there, and I didn't like it. They didn't call back and weren't helpful. She kept getting hurt. It was too big. The staff were okay, but there was no one to talk to directly. Sometimes they answered emails, sometimes not. The boss changed a lot - it was messy. They charged a lot, and it felt like a scam.
