"Assisted Living Facility Review: Good Staff, Poor Management, Hopeful Changes Ahead"

The people here are nice, but sometimes they don't communicate well or follow through. It seems like they don't have enough staff and aren't managed properly. Next week, new management is taking over, so we're hoping things will get better. The place is clean and nice, but sometimes things like laundry and showers don't happen on time. I've told the staff about this, but nothing changes. If someone can speak up for themselves and doesn't need much help, they might give this place a 3 or 4. But because I have to always be involved and figure out what's going on with my loved one, I'd rate it a 2 or 3 overall. He's mostly safe and comfortable, but sometimes when he needs help and pushes the buzzer, it takes 1 to 2 hours for someone to come. We're hoping things will improve with new management.

"Better options available, lacking activities and slow food service."

This place is okay, but there might be better ones for your loved one. They don't have many activities because of COVID right now. But I've seen some music and art stuff for residents. The food takes a long time to come, and it's often cold when it gets to my loved one.

"Warm, caring staff made moving to Las Casitas easy."

I toured several places with my mother before choosing Las Casitas. What stood out about Las Casitas was the warm sense of community and the caring staff. Many other places we looked at were too big and didn't seem right for her. At Las Casitas, I felt she would be well cared for and supported. Deciding to move a parent to a new home is tough, but the Administrator and staff made it as easy as possible. We are very glad we chose Las Casitas.

"Great Facilities and Staff, But Poor Location"

The location isn't convenient, but the facilities are great and the staff is excellent.

"Good experience but not the right fit"

My loved one had a positive experience at Sunrise at Oakland Hills. The staff mostly did a great job and took good care of him. He chose to move out because it wasn't the right fit for him, but his time at Sunrise was not bad.

"Wonderful care and respect for residents at Sunrise Oakland Hills"

Choosing an assisted living facility for a parent is a big job and can be really hard. That’s why I want to share my experience with Sunrise Oakland Hills, one of the best elder care places in the East Bay. The staff at Sunrise Oakland Hills is wonderful. From the start, the Director of Sales, made us feel at home and was very friendly to our family. She stays in touch with families throughout their stay, not just when you sign up. The leadership team, especially the nurse, the Assisted Living Coordinator, and my dad’s Care Manager are always available and keep in touch regularly. The place is well-organized with clear procedures for every situation. The training for their staff and volunteers is excellent. They show a lot of respect for the residents and are full of love, patience, kindness, and care. Seeing how they treat my 101-year-old dad with such affection makes me feel good, even though I can only visit once a month. I know he’s being well cared for and treated with the highest respect. The care managers do so much for him, like repeating themselves until he understands, sitting with him while he tells stories, encouraging him to be as independent as possible, and making sure he is well-fed and clean. Knowing my dad is safe and his later years are as good as they can be means everything to me. I feel he is respected for the great man he is, even though his true self is now a bit hidden. Sunrise staff really see what an amazing man he is. I highly recommend Sunrise Oakland Hills if you’re making this tough decision.

"Negative experience due to unsupportive staff in caretaker facility."

I was really excited after the great tour and had plans to have my mom and dad try out this place for a while before moving in permanently. But then, their nice salesperson vanished, and a very mean woman took their spot. She was insulting, didn't listen to me, and suddenly said they didn't offer short-term stays. I'm heartbroken because this place looked like it would be perfect for my parents.

"Downhill Experience After Initial Tour at Assisted Living Facility"

I had an excellent tour and considered giving my folks a trial stay here. But, things changed because the nice lady who showed me around vanished. A disagreeable woman took her place, who was impolite and brushed me off, saying they didn't even offer short-term care. I'm super bummed because I really thought this spot was perfect for my parents.

"Great Meals and Happy Residents!"

The meals during our tour looked great, and the residents seemed happy. The community was clean and had many nice features. I have no complaints about our tour and would definitely recommend this place to any family or friends.

"Can't Say Enough Good Things About Sunrise at Oakland Hills"

We are very pleased with how Sunrise at Oakland Hills cares for my father-in-law. We don’t visit often because we live far away, but when we do, the staff always remembers us. They assign specific staff members to each resident, so we know who is working with him. The facility is very well-managed. Although the transition was tough for my father-in-law, he has adapted really well and is very happy there. The views are incredible, and the facility feels so homey. The design is cozy and beautifully done. The only minor issues are that there’s just one plug in the room’s center wall and the bathroom doors can hit the room door. But these are very small concerns. Overall, we can’t say enough good things about this place!

"Fantastic care and beautiful, relaxing environment."

My mother's nursing needs were too much for home care. After she left a skilled nursing facility, we looked for a place with great nursing staff and hands-on care, plus a relaxing environment for her to enjoy as she recovered. The care team here is fantastic—knowledgeable, reliable, and caring. The place is beautiful. Bravo!

"Beautiful and Serene"

The inside of the assisted living facility was super clean, and the staff greeted us warmly. They have lots of activities, although it's a bit pricey. What stood out to me the most was the garden and the peaceful outdoor areas. It's so beautiful, and the atmosphere feels calm and quiet. Overall, it seems like a nice place to live. I recommend visiting and deciding for yourself.

"Exceptional Care and Support at Sunrise at Oakland Hills"

I am very impressed with Sunrise at Oakland Hills and their staff. The place is welcoming, calming, and well-kept. The staff is dedicated to taking care of the residents and their families. From the first visit, I felt very comfortable and confident that my mom would be well cared for. They were quick to respond to my needs and provided great support during the move-in process. I’m so happy we chose Sunrise at Oakland Hills. Our experience has been much better than the care my mom received elsewhere. I highly recommend this place if you want a facility with professional, experienced, and caring staff who really show they care about their residents.

"Liked facility, very bright, nice staff..."

I really liked the facility. It was very bright, and the staff were nice. The rooms were pleasant, and there was a good view of the city. However, there was no exercise equipment, and it's a bit off the beaten path.

"High Price Matches Exceptional Scenery and Facility"

Really pricy, but understandable given the scenery and the place.

"Assisted Living: Cozy, Busy, and Views"

Right now, there's no space in the memory unit. The assisted living option feels cozy, bustling (in a good way), and offers lovely views. They could improve support for memory loss.
