After reading some reviews, I decided to write about my experience touring this community on 12/17/2016. I was pleasantly surprised. The building is lovely, located in a neighborhood setting, and makes residents feel at home rather than in an institution. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with serene sitting areas, big trees, and a huge backyard with pathways and a gated area for memory care residents. Inside, it felt warm and inviting, with Christmas decorations, staff interacting with residents, and Christmas music playing. The community manager greeted me on a Saturday and explained that she was there to engage with the residents during their party. The environment was very clean, recently remodeled to feel home-like, warm, and inviting. I was impressed by how my unannounced visit didn’t affect the quality of services. My husband was so impressed he asked, 'How old must you be to live here!' The residents were smiling, and the staff were very engaged in the Christmas spirit. After researching online and asking questions during the tour, I’m very impressed with their care philosophy and high standards. They focus on individual needs and support families coping with memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease. The care, compassion, activities, family-style living, and festive celebrations all made me feel trust and gratitude toward this community. I highly recommend touring this community if you are looking for a place for yourself or a loved one.

"A True Blessing"
After a bad experience with board-and-care homes, I was doubtful. But A Place for Mom gave me this great referral. It's close to my home, in a nice neighborhood, and had high ratings—so I checked it out. I'm really happy with what I found. The staff and administrator are genuine, caring people. You can feel their kindness, and they take great care of my loved one.

"Best care ever!"
My Uncle lived at Sunshine Heights for over 2 years, and as a nurse, I’m very picky about cleanliness and care. This place was amazing. I visited him about twice a week, and it was always clean, smelled fresh, and had a bright, cheerful vibe. The staff worked hard to keep Jim happy, which can be tough as people get older. He loved the cat, painting, drawing, football, and old movies. The staff made sure he enjoyed all these things. Even though he was bedridden, he never had any sores or broken skin. Dr. provided nutritious meals, and they didn’t mind us bringing Jim his favorite snacks. I highly recommend Sunshine Heights. It’s in a lovely neighborhood, feels like home, and the staff treats everyone with kindness. It’s a very special place!

"Mixed feelings about assisted living; nice but not ideal fit."
I thought about this place for my family member when I was searching for somewhere. I liked it a lot, it was really nice. Ultimately, I decided not to go with this assisted living home. I didn't think it was the perfect match for my loved one, but if I were going to pick this kind of place, it would likely be this one.

"Pleasant Assisted Living Facility"
I thought about this place for my loved one when I was searching for a spot. I really liked it; it was very pleasant. However, I decided not to choose a residential facility like this. It didn't seem like the best fit for my loved one, but if I were to pick this type, it probably would have been them.

"Mom's Care at Sunshine Heights is Exceptional"
Sunshine Heights has been a great place for my mom, who has advanced dementia, diabetes, and other health problems. The caregivers are kind and really understand her needs. She has been amazing, always finding ways to make my mom's care and transition smoother. The house is very clean and comfortable, and there's a nice park just a short walk away. I'm so happy we chose Sunshine Heights.

"Caring and professional staff at Sunshine Heights"
My mom has been living here for over two years. The facility takes great care of her special needs, including taking her to doctor's appointments and staying with her. They always adapt to her changing needs. The staff is friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place.

"The Best Assisted Living Facility"
My mom got severe dementia and needed full-time care quickly. She’s always been an amazing mom, so my sister and I wanted to find a place where she’d be happy and well cared for. We didn’t think such a place existed. The first places we saw were depressing. But when we visited Sunshine Heights, it was different. It was beautiful, super clean, sunny, and open. The owner, Elke, spent an hour with us, really getting to know our mom and us. No one else did that, and it made a huge difference. At the end of the first week, my mom told me to make sure I was tipping them well because the service was amazing. She thought she was at a resort! That made us so happy. It’s been two years now. I visit about once a week, and it’s always clean, beautiful, and welcoming. It’s a place you want to visit. Elke has done something amazing. For us, it’s a miracle. My mom is cared for, has friends who are like family, and can relax with the sound of a waterfall and flowers outside. She feels loved. I’m relaxed knowing she’s there. Elke keeps great communication with us, and my mom is happy. We really hit the jackpot, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

"Clean, safe, and caring environment for my mom"
My mom has lived at Sunshine Heights for a year and a half. I’ve always been impressed by how clean and well-organized the place is. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The caregivers are very kind and helpful. I feel confident they’re taking good care of my mom and paying attention to her needs.

"A Perfect Home for My Mom"
I was searching hard for a place for my 89-year-old mom after she hurt her back and couldn’t live alone anymore. She needed help with daily tasks, and after visiting several facilities, I found Sunshine Heights in a nice, quiet neighborhood in Los Angeles. From the outside, you wouldn’t even know it was a care home. Sunshine Heights is run by a doctor who has been working with seniors for many years. She really understands what her residents need and always took great care of my mom. She’s serious about serving healthy meals because she believes good food leads to good health. It had been a long time since my mom enjoyed eating, but at Sunshine Heights, her appetite finally came back. My mom even told me the food was amazing! All the residents eat together, which creates a friendly, social environment. One thing that brought extra joy to my mom (and me!) was their house cat. She made the place feel even more like home. I visited my mom regularly, and the home was always spotless, which was a big deal to me. Unlike some places that have bad smells, Sunshine Heights always smelled fresh and clean. The atmosphere was calm, and the staff was incredibly caring and kind. There’s also a great caregiver-to-resident ratio—one caregiver for every three residents, which meant my mom got attention quickly. If anything changed with my mom’s condition, the doctor made sure to keep me in the loop. I would recommend Sunshine Heights to anyone looking for a place for their aging parent. I had high standards for my mom’s care, and Sunshine Heights exceeded them!

"A Comforting Home for Loved Ones"
I checked out a few places, but Sunshine Heights felt perfect. It was super clean, quiet, and had lots of sunlight. My mom, who was 91, stayed there for her last few months. She got excellent care 24/7, which made me feel better. The staff cooks fresh food every day, and the owner lives there too. They encourage everyone to eat together like a big family at the dining table.

The boss here clearly knows his stuff and has a lot of experience, but the folks living there weren't as lively as my mom needs.
