"Melrose Gardens: Mixed Bag for Elders"
When the Director left, the heart of the place went with them. Melrose Gardens looks nice from the outside, but it’s not really set up for spending time with your elders indoors. The big rec room is hardly ever used—just for paperwork when Mom moved in. The TV Room is uncomfortable, with limited channels and an old computer. There’s no cozy library or much common space. It’s pricey because it’s private. The dining room feels a bit gloomy. The staff is nice, though. Mom was fine there until they hiked up her rent when a wealthy prospect came along.

"Best Assisted Living Community with Excellent Care and Activities"
This place is amazing and very special. My mom is really happy here, and I'm thrilled with everything they've done for us. Moving in was so easy. The facility is always clean and tidy. We even had a party for my mom, and they took care of all the food, which was great. She loves the music activities. I checked out many places, and this one was the best by far.

"Amazing transformation at Melrose Gardens!"
I can't praise this place enough. My mom has early-stage dementia and was unhappy at home, even with great care. She was often agitated. But since moving to Melrose Gardens, she’s a different person. The staff, especially the Director, is amazing. She talks more and joins in activities now. It’s like a miracle. This facility is very special and unlike any other. I’m so grateful to the staff.

"Difficulty in Communication and Visiting; Aunt's Happiness Uncertain"
My aunt is happy here, but it's hard to talk to her. There's only one phone, and you have to explain who you are each time. Sometimes they're at lunch or short-staffed, so they ask you to call back. Plus, there's no phone in her room, which makes it even harder. Parking is tough too; you have to call ahead. Visiting isn't easy. When I finally reach someone, they assure me my aunt is doing well, but it's still a challenge.

"Waiting for Financial Resolution"
The sign-up process went smoothly, and everything happened quickly and on schedule. However, we paid for the entire month upfront, but my father only stayed there for one day due to some problems. We're still waiting for a response about the financial situation.

"Disappointed with Dementia Care at Melrose Gardens"
My spouse was dealing with dementia. He was frail and had difficulty walking. The staff at The Cottages at Melrose Gardens insisted he needed to be in a psychiatric ward because he lashed out at a caregiver. I pleaded with them to help me find him the necessary care without resorting to a psychiatric ward, but they didn't agree. I believe they overreacted to the situation, especially considering his limited mobility. I expected them to be more equipped to handle dementia patients. Unfortunately, I don't have many positive things to say about this facility.

"Unfortunate experience at The Cottages at Melrose Gardens"
My late spouse struggled with dementia. He was incredibly slender and lacked the strength to walk properly. The staff claimed that he needed to be placed in a psychiatric ward because he allegedly lashed at one of the carers. I pleaded with them to help me find a solution that didn't require hospitalization, but they wouldn't budge. In my opinion, they significantly overplayed the occurrence as he barely had the strength to move, and I anticipated they would be more professionally equipped to handle dementia patients. I really can’t say much positive about The Cottages at Melrose Gardens.

"Quiet Facility with Personal Touches"
Monah was nice about getting people to eat. The place didn't smell. We could bring in our own furniture. The activities board was good. But it was too quiet overall. No one was talking except the caregivers. It was almost too quiet. It felt unsettling because music or noise usually calms people. Why is everyone so quiet?

"Personal Touch but Oddly Silent Assisted Living Facility"
The staff adds a nice touch getting people to eat here. Surprisingly, there's no smell. It's cool that you can bring in your own furniture to make the place feel more like home. The activities board is stocked with fun stuff. But, it's weirdly quiet here. You can barely hear anyone talking except the staff. It's just too silent. It's a bit creepy, since some noise or even music can soothe people. Why is everybody so hushed up?

"Top-notch assisted living with friendly staff, lacks direct communication."
This place is really nice and well-kept. The people who work there are super friendly and know a lot. We got to see some of the residents doing activities, which was cool. The rooms are cozy, like being at home. You can tell they take good care of the people who live there. My family member had an interview at the hospital to see if they could move in, but we didn't hear back from the manager about it, which was a bummer. So, we're still searching for the right place.

"A Wonderful Place for Care and Peace"
I recently helped my friend find a place for his mother, who has memory issues. We checked out about six places. Some were okay, but others were really bad. The Cottages at Melrose Gardens stood out because they were beautiful, calm, clean, well-designed, pleasant, respectful, organized, and charming. There were flowers and art everywhere. The staff, especially Mona, were friendly and professional. My friend feels so much better knowing his mother will be well cared for, safe, respected, entertained, and encouraged to keep her skills and independence. Finding the right place can be tough, but it's comforting to know good options are out there. I strongly suggest anyone in the Los Angeles area looking for a safe and peaceful place for a loved one visit the Cottages at Melrose Gardens.
