The Lexington Assisted Living

"Warning: Poor Management and Unreturned Deposit at Lexington Ventura, CA"
Terrible time... noticed the front door wasn't being watched over and was left unguarded and wide open at 10 at night? The people in charge are in Santa Maria, CA, but they're supposed to be overseeing the place in Ventura, CA. There's no one around the premises to manage things. Sadly... "We sent the check" - but we still haven't gotten our $[removed] deposit back? My dad never even stayed a single day or night at the Lexington in Ventura, CA. I advise against it and wouldn't recommend.

"Friendly and Active Assisted Living with Great Amenities and Care"
The place is older but kept clean. The food is really good. They have activities all day long like movies, ice cream socials, and even hot dogs and burgers outside when it's warm. They also have Happy Hour! The people who work in the office and take care of us are all nice, helpful, and know a lot. They want everyone here to be healthy and happy. They like it when family and friends come to visit. There's also a pool, which not many places like this have! From what I found out when I looked around, the Lexington costs about the same as other places like it. They did a lot to make sure my dad and stepmom had everything they wanted. The doctors and nurses seem to know what they're doing, and they keep me informed about everything that happens, even things like when they need to cut toenails or if there's a fall. I feel good knowing my loved ones live there.

"Poor Treatment and Unhealthy Food at Assisted Living Home"
My stepmom didn't get her meds for a full day, they haven't given her a bath in a week, and she's been roughly treated by employees. The people in charge aren't doing their jobs right and they don't seem to care about anyone there. We moved her in a week back and already we're arranging to move her again. Plus, the food always comes out cold, and it's not even healthy.

"Great Staff, Needs More Memory Care Helpers"
The people running this place are really good, and I liked them a lot because they talk to us well. But the memory care part didn’t have enough workers. There was only one helper for every eight people, and that wasn’t enough for what my mom needed.

"Lackluster Tour Guide at Assisted Living Facility"
Our family visited the assisted living facility in person, and we liked the place. However, the tour guide wasn't well-prepared to answer our basic questions and didn't make an effort to find someone who could. Their lackadaisical attitude was disappointing.

"Assisted Living Review: Friendly and Clean with Room for Improvement"
Everyone here is really nice and willing to help out. I think it's worth the cost, especially if you don't need too much help. They keep it very clean, which is good. Sometimes they take a bit longer to fix things when there's a problem, though.

The place is spotless. The staff are super friendly and helpful. There are lots of fun activities and entertainment for everyone, and the dining area looks like a fancy restaurant.

"Amazing community with caring staff and family-like treatment."
The Lexington is an amazing place with fantastic caregivers and staff. It’s been 95% full for over 30 years because they truly care! Residents and families are treated like family, not just numbers.

"Affordable assisted living, but additional costs may be prohibitive."
We toured the place and liked it a lot. Now we're waiting to hear how much it costs for the specific stuff my mom needs. If it's too pricey, we might not be able to move her there because the extra charges are more than I can afford.

"Her happy place"
This place is great for excellent care. It's clean and well-kept, so she enjoys it here. They have a nice variety of meals. She gets to do a lot of activities with other residents. She also likes going on small trips outside the community. We're happy with the care and value here.

"Too cramped!"
I didn't like Lexington Assisted Living during my tour. The rooms were super tiny, only about 200 square feet—like a big closet. Everyone was friendly, but it felt more suited for people needing more care than my dad.

"Recommended for Care, Building Needs Attention"
My mom stayed here till the end. The care was good considering. But, they need to fix up the place better. New carpets and paint would help. I'd still suggest it though.

"I Took a Tour!"
When I visited Lexington Assisted Living, it felt like an older community. They didn’t seem as dedicated to the community as other places I saw. The staff was friendly, but it wasn’t what we wanted.

"Affordable but lacking activities, with a hospital-like atmosphere."
This place costs less than the one we picked. They don’t have as many fun things to do as the other place. The people who work here are friendly. It feels more like being in a hospital than a home.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Facility with Friendly Staff"
When I walked in, I could tell it wasn't right for my loved one. It was dark, dingy, and dirty. They didn't have balconies, which we wanted. The man who showed us around was really nice and helpful. But overall, the place didn't have much to offer, especially considering the price.

"No balconies and poor conditions despite friendly staff"
As soon as I stepped in, I realized this wasn't the right fit for my family member. The place was gloomy, shabby, and really unclean. Furthermore, it didn't even have balconies, which was a sought-after feature for us. However, the guy giving us the tour was super polite and helpful. The community itself simply didn't have much to offer, which was evident in the cost.

"Plain yet practical assisted living, lacking in activities for independents."
Nice, though a bit plain. Old-style furniture, no rugs in the shared spaces. Very petite single room, wouldn't work for two people. Not too many activities for those who don't need much help.

"A Clean and Friendly Place"
The Lexington seemed really nice. It was very clean, and everyone was friendly. Some residents mentioned that the exercise room could use a boost exercise ball. Other than that, it's a really nice and clean place. They could improve the activities, especially with more exercise options for the residents. Overall, The Lexington is a really nice place.

"Issues With Fitting In At The Lexington"
My folks are having quite a rough time fitting in at The Lexington. On the surface, it comes across as a pleasant place and the staff seem pretty jovoly, but it's just not clicking for them and they desire to return to their personal abode. They've grumbled a bit about the cuisine. They have a specific preference and the meals haven't been satisfying their palate. I can't put a finger on whether the blame lies more with The Lexington or my folks, but it simply has not clicked.

"Happy with the Community"
I have been very happy with the community as a whole. I found everything to be quite a good experience. The staff is doing a wonderful job, the community is adequate for living, and the people are very friendly as well. I only wish that my loved one was on the first floor instead of the second, but that was the only opening. I will say, though, that they are escorted down to the lower floor whenever they decide to go.

"Blind Mom Overcharged, Facility Only Good for Self-Sufficient Seniors"
The Lexington seems fitting for self-sufficient seniors. When my mom, who is blind and requires full-time care, was accepted and moved in, I thought the staff were aware of her needs. Sadly, she fell within her first week, ending up in the hospital and later, rehabilitation. Upon confronting the Lexington's manager, she admitted that my mom needed a different level of care and even suggested alternative locations. When we moved my mom out, they billed us for her brief stay and an additional month's stay due to insufficient notice. Despite multiple appeals, they refused to compromise. We made the payment but I cannot, in good faith, recommend the Lexington to others.

"Unresolved Issues at Lexington Facility"
My Mom was wrongfully blamed for wearing identical outfits daily, even though she owned three slightly varied versions of the same housecoat. Moreover, the staff failed to protect her from the harsh behavior of another resident. I think this lack of action was due to the aggressive resident being a wealthy client that the Lexington wouldn’t risk losing.

"Nicer Inside than Outside"
We really liked this assisted living facility, but unfortunately, they didn't have any availability. It was our second choice. I wasn't a fan of the pool because my mother couldn't swim, but overall, we liked the place. When we were ready to move, we contacted them, but it's unfortunate that they were already full. The building had a 50s or 60s apartment-type look, which wasn't necessarily a bad thing. Surprisingly, the inside looked much nicer than the outside.

"Mom's last days at Lexington were full of care."
I moved Mom to The Lexington Memory Care Unit after her previous place couldn’t meet her needs anymore. She got a bigger, nicer room for less money, and the care was excellent. The staff and management made the move easy for us. Mom grew close to the staff, especially Frank and Freddy, even when she didn’t recognize family. They gave her more care and attention than we ever expected. Even when she became unresponsive, they still treated her with dignity. My sister and I visited daily, and the staff always updated us on her condition. They supported our family throughout. I only wish we had moved her there sooner.

"Excellent Care with Room for More Activities!"
We like it. My parents are really happy here, and they're taking good care of them. They gave us a really good deal, so it's a great value! The care is really good. I'm not sure about the activities, though. My parents are in memory care, so they don't do much. I think that's one way they could make it better - maybe add more activities for the memory care part. Besides that, it's great. We're very happy with it.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Facility"
There's plenty to do here, but the rooms are cozy. The building's old-fashioned, like a hotel or an East Coast house. It's got dark wood and hardwood floors, but it's a bit plain—no art on the walls. There are lots of activities, but the activity room didn't fit Mom's vibe. It's tough to judge from just one visit. They've got a pool, which is cool for water exercises, but Mom's scared of swimming. The place and the folks are great, but it's not right for Mom.

"Space Layout Wasn’t Ideal"
The place was okay. The thing we didn’t enjoy was the building’s design. It felt like an outdated hotel. While some might find that nice, it wasn’t suitable for my mom to move around easily. The way it was set up and the fact that we had to use elevators was a bit of a problem. There’s nothing bad to say about the people working there; it’s just the way the building is made.

"Great Value and Caring Staff"
I'm not completely sure about the value, but I think they do a good job. I'd like to see a nurse on staff. My dad wanted to try it out, so he stayed at The Lexington for a week. They have lots of activities, but my dad isn't interested in games or dancing. The activities they offer are great, but nothing would really keep my dad excited. The food is okay. It's adequate, well-balanced, and better than high school cafeteria food. For the price, it's a good value. It feels like business is the first priority at all these places. The people are very nice and caring, though. They've been very attentive, and my dad was comfortable there. I would (and have) recommended that people go check it out.

"Pleasant, Yet Cramped Home with Overbearing Financial Talks"
It's a pleasant place, but the spaces are cramped. I felt as if I was being circled by birds of prey. I understand that money matters in these circumstances, but they talked about my grandparents' money way too much for me. I would have preferred to just collect information and let my grandparents handle their own money. The pool was awesome though and appeared to be the liveliest community there!
