"Decline in Care at Park Lane Assisted Living"
I settled into Park Lane after a serious head injury made it necessary for me to make my life simpler. I tried living there for two weeks and thought I could be content. At first, things looked good: they fixed problems quickly, the food was yummy and healthy, and it came on time. Most folks living there seemed happy and cared for. But after half a year to eight months, it wasn’t the same. They started ignoring my requests for fixing things, or they’d “fix” them but not really. The food got so bad over time that I just didn’t want to eat in the dining hall anymore. We’d all sit there, waiting over an hour for our meals, and mostly talk about how bad the food and service had gotten. I couldn’t stay any longer and left after a year. I can’t say I’d tell anyone to move in or put their family there. It’s not just me—lots of people have left, and there are plenty of empty places now.

"Memory Care Unit Falls Short at Park Lane Assisted Living"
I'm giving Park Lane's memory care unit two stars. While other areas of the facility looked nice, the memory care unit lacked staff involvement. There wasn't much cleaning or upkeep, and not many activities were offered. During our visit, they talked up the amenities and promised personalized care, but what we saw didn't match up. The outdoor garden was lovely, though, and it's good that they allow pets.

""Inadequate facility with potential, needs serious maintenance and improved care""
I wouldn't advise anyone to choose this facility. I attempted to cooperate with the managers but concluded it was best to relocate my mother immediately. I keep hoping it will eventually possess the caregiver's attention, level of service, team, and nurses it truly needs. People should feel secure, looked after, regarded, and heard in such an environment. The building always requires significant upkeep. It needs repairs and has plumbing issues. The gym's equipment is old, the windows and upper decks are unkempt, and everything could do with some serious cleaning. The outdoor scenery though, is quite appealing. They do a great job with the groundskeeping. There's a lovely footpath, attractive outdoor seats, a massive back patio, a rooftop designated for gatherings, and a stunning bayside view. It could be great someday.

"Slow Response to Requests in Higher Care"
My loved one was in the assisted care, which is the higher level of care. They were not very quick to respond to their requests. That was the biggest problem we had with TPL.

"Lack of Care at Pricy Assisted Living Facility"
Please don't consider this facility if your family member requires a lot of help. They aren't providing the proper care my mother needs. They simply put fresh sheets over her dirty ones, and they've even ruined some of her clothing during laundry. When she needs to take a shower, they ask our private aide for guidance since they seem to be clueless. They're more interested in their phones and watching videos than doing their job correctly. Several times, I've seen them slacking off while I carry out piles of garbage. It appears that the staff is lacking proper training. While this place does charge a pretty penny, I must admit that the food is delicious, and they maintain their gardens well. However, if your loved one needs a higher level of care, it's better to hire a personal caregiver instead.

"Inconsistent Medication Management Concerns at The Park Lane"
The Park Lane is a good place overall, but they need to improve how they handle assisted living. Right now, we're having a problem with my dad's medication. When there's a change, they ask for written approval, which is fine, but they didn't give him the correct dosage for a couple of days. He needed the full dose as labeled, but they refused to cut the pill in half, saying "That isn't what we do." It seems like they're not handling medications properly. My dad is upset about it; he knows how his medications should be managed. We moved him here with the expectation that he'd get the right dosage of medication at the right time. The maintenance person gives it to him, which is okay if that's their procedure, but the timing is off. Despite our instructions, they come in two hours early. It feels like they want to give it whenever they feel like it, which is a problem that needs fixing.

"Review of Park Lane."
I used to work here with Hyatt, so I know Park Lane well. I'm proud to recommend it to patients who would benefit from the activities, good food, and caring staff.

"Future Resident’s Thoughts"
I found Park Lane to be cozy and welcoming. The dining room was super clean, and the staff were friendly and quick. The apartment I looked at was amazing, and the layout was just right for me. The granite countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms were a big plus. The deck running along the back of the apartment was another great feature. I plan to move in here someday, hopefully soon.

"We Like It Here"
The staff is really friendly and nice to be around. The place is very clean, and we feel like we're getting our money's worth. We have our own caregiver. I don't join in the activities much, but everyone seems to have fun. My wife loves the writing class since she used to be an English teacher. She's doing well here. The socialization is great for her because she's outgoing and friendly, while I'm more of a hermit. The food is pretty good. I'm picky about what I eat, so I don't eat much of it. Some things are organic, some aren't, but I have a kitchen, so I cook for myself.

"Just lovely. Amazing views from the top floor."
The place is just lovely. The views from the top floor walking circuit are amazing. The 2-bedroom unit has a fully working kitchen and great views from the bigger bedroom and living room. There's also a movie theater and a big saltwater jacuzzi downstairs.

"Perfect Place for My Parents"
This place is my favorite. I think my parents would love living here for many reasons. The woodshop, which my dad could use, is a big plus for him. Being in Monterey with views of the Del Monte Forest and Monterey Bay (at least from the common areas, if not from their unit) is a huge bonus. The chalets feel almost like their own house. The common areas are attractive and very inviting. The dining room looked great, and I liked the restaurant-style dining with lots of choices, which is perfect for my parents at this stage of their lives.
