The Village at Hayes Valley

"High turnover, limited activities, but caring staff."
The place has some really nice folks, but they switch out staff a lot. I think the people who work there are super, but maybe the big bosses aren't so good. Stuff can switch up fast. My mom wasn't a fan. We don't get to go outside or do much outside the building. Especially with COVID, I get why, but it's still a bummer.

"Expensive Assisted Living Facility with No Perks"
My family and I visited The Village at Hayes Valley. Out of all the assisted living places we checked out, this one was the most costly and honestly, the poorest. They don't have a parking area. What's worse is that the bathrooms are all communal and found in the hallway. The whole place stank badly. It was just downright nasty.

"Smooth Respite Stay with Communication Challenges"
The place is clean and safe, especially for memory care. But they need to improve communication. Whenever you call the front desk, their voicemail is full. Overall, our respite stay went smoothly, from moving in to moving out.

"Staff Great, Office Lacking: Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The staff here is the highlight. They do their best despite having too few of them for all the people living here. But the office seems to only care about money. There's one person who's not very nice – they act unprofessional and don't seem to care about anyone. The office gets a low score for friendliness. However, the daily staff are pretty good, I'd give them a 4 out of 5.

"Staff support commendable, business office lacks professionalism"
The coolest thing about this place is how the staff helps out. They really try hard even though there aren't enough of them compared to how many people live here. But the office that deals with the money only seems to care about getting paid. And there's this one person who works there who isn't very professional, has no class, acts cold, and doesn't seem to care.

The staff is really nice and friendly. They always say hello with a smile and remember my name. I’d suggest this place to anyone looking for a lovely home for their parents.

"Hayes Valley Home Needs Improvement Despite Cool Sun Room"
This house is located in central Hayes Valley. You have to share both rooms and bathrooms here. There's a cool sun room, but I think the whole place needs some work.

"Needs More Staff; Cleaning and Morning Assistance Lacking"
I wish there were more helpers to assist me in the mornings, like getting up or going to the bathroom. The food is okay here. But these days, I don't see cleaners to keep the place tidy as they used to come more frequently before. This facility for sure needs to hire more staff.

"Mixed Feelings About Care and Food at Assisted Living Facility"
I'm not happy that you can't leave this place without someone with you. I like to take solo walks sometimes. But overall, the caretaking and meals here aren't bad. I just wish they'd put more greens in our food. Pasta all the time isn't the best for me.

"Feels Trapped but Enjoys the Food and Outings "
I dislike feeling trapped here. It feels like I'm not allowed to do anything or go anywhere. This impacts my overall health and happiness. The food here is decent though. The cook knows what they're doing. I'm fond of the field trips too, I just wish there were more of them.

"Satisfactory Assisted Living Facility with Decent People"
This place is pretty okay, but I don't know a lot about it. The hallway area is cool. I like having things to grip onto. I don't really know the folks here that well, but they seem decent enough. I haven't had any issues with them.

""Overpriced Haircuts and Lost Items Mar a Generally Good Facility""

"Care Staff Okay, But Help is Slow and Bed Unfixed"
The care staff is okay, but I wish they were more reliable and quicker. It takes a while to get help. Sometimes, they can be a bit annoying. The maintenance team still hasn’t fixed my bed, and it's still a bit wobbly.

"Mixed Staff Quality and Bug Issue, Yet Commendable Activities"
A few employees really give it their all with the resources provided, but some seem more interested in consuming the complimentary meals and lounging around. There's a rampant roach issue here that no one is taking care of. On a positive note, I do appreciate the events organized here, they genuinely put effort into ensuring everyone feels part of the community.

"A Wonderful Tour with Some Room for Improvement"
The lady who showed my mom and me around was awesome! She respected our time and shared lots of helpful info about their place. I enjoyed the lively atmosphere and positive vibes there. But, it felt a bit too much like an institution for me, and the rooms were quite small.

"Staff Shortage and Overworked Employees Clouds Age Song's Promise"
We decided on Age Song for my mom or dad about 10 months ago. At first, it was really great and the staff were kind and attentive. But over time, we've noticed that they're always short on staff. We visit Age Song almost everyday, so we can definitely see the problems. The staff, or care partners as they're known, are overwhelmed with work due to constant shortage of people and the serious needs of those they're caring for. We can tell that these care partners are stressed out and unhappy. This situation makes us think they have a hard time keeping staff around. Just a few weeks ago, two people in charge quit their jobs. The company doesn't seem balanced - there's too many folks at the top and not enough down here doing the real work. So we're starting to look at other options for my mom or dad.

"Decent but slightly gloomy; not quite what we wanted."
The assisted living facility was alright, but it felt a bit sad. It was better than others I looked at. The layout and the residents were somewhat different. They only had rooms that were shared, and it felt more like an institution than what we wanted. It didn't really meet our needs.

"Great staff and community spirit!"
The staff at AgeSong Laguna Grove are really friendly. They work hard and deserve to be paid more for what they do. They are kind and always do their best. They have some activities, but there aren’t enough staff to take everyone to them. The food is alright, not great but not terrible.

"Age Song Hayes Valley: Caring Staff and Great Food"
The care workers, called Care Partners, are really kind, friendly, and caring. The food is great, and the residents are pleased with the variety. The menu changes every week, offering lots of different choices. The Care Partners spend quality time with the residents when they aren’t busy, which helps those who use wheelchairs or have dementia. I’m very satisfied with Age Song Hayes Valley Care and feel confident they’re taking good care of my 95-year-old mother, who has some dementia. She seems happy there, smiles more, and interacts more than she did at home with 24-hour care.

"Terrific staff and cleanliness despite mom's isolation"
My mom's dealing with FTD Dementia, which isn't the same as what most of the folks here have. I wish she had some people who she could really connect with. That said, the staff is wonderful. The director has done a solid job, and I'm really happy with her. She's easy to like. The place is kept really clean. I've been there around 5 times and there's never any bad smells. Everyone is clean and friendly as well.

"Feels Too Institutional for Comfort"
I was considering this place as my second option, and I stayed in touch with their outreach person for over a year. The staff here were really nice, but the facility was much bigger and felt more like a big institution compared to where my mom is now. It was all about the feeling, and I didn't want her to feel like she was in an institution.

"Clean and Organized Assisted Living with Room for Improvement"
My sister stays there. I don't live nearby, so it's tricky for me to judge. We picked it, so obviously, we think it's good. It's tidy, and the food looks tasty. They offer art classes. My sister is talented in art but doesn't go. I wish someone could encourage her to join. Many activities cater to recovering addicts. Despite this, I'd still recommend it because it's well managed and structured. I wish the staff, whether caregivers or nurses, could take her for walks and to art class.

"Potentially Too Noisy for Mom, Empty Rooftop Patio"
This place might be too noisy for my mom, there's a lot happening with the other residents. I'm sure she'd get care, but I worry it could make her a bit stressed. They had a nice patio on the rooftop, but it was deserted when we visited for more than an hour.
