"Highly Recommend with Active Involvement Needed"
I think they're a good choice and you should stay involved in your loved one's care. Be aware of any issues that might come up. Overall, we're very happy with it. They keep things clean and if you tell them about a problem, the staff will take care of it right away. They've been quick to respond to all my questions and concerns. It's been a positive experience.

"Avoid Awful Conditions: Elderly Care Facility Totally Fails"
Steer Clear of This Assisted Living Home! Back in the day, this facility may have been satisfactory, but it's gone straight downhill now. After recent changes in the staff, it's only gotten worse. The carpets are gross, the food is nasty, and the staff isn't equipped to properly care for the people living here. When residents speak up about their issues, they’re quickly silenced. The person in charge isn’t truthful about how bad things really are. The poor folks living here are just at the mercy of awful management and pathetic living circumstances. Don’t leave your family here.

"Awful Living Conditions And Indifferent Staff At Assisted Living Facility"
My mom stays in this place. The building is dirty and not looked after. They don't have enough health care workers. My mom had to wait for more than sixty minutes to get her pain medicine. The food is no good. Most people living there just ask for sandwiches because that's the only thing they can stomach. The people in charge just give you a fake smile and tell you what you want to hear. But they don't really care what the people living there or their families think or feel. No amount of air fresheners can cover up the bad smell from the building or the bad attitudes from the people running the place. I've complained many times, but they don't care. My mom keeps getting more upset because they ignore her. Don't let anyone you love live here!

"Neglected Facility with Aging Infrastructure and Unresponsive Management"
Absolutely awful! The place is filthy with pervasive stench of urine in the hallways. The bathrooms are ancient and unclean, the laundry services are horrendous, and the windows are never washed. The outdoor area is not maintained; no landscaping or gardening is ever done. Residents have voiced their complaints to the management, but each year it just gets worse. From personal experience, I can confirm that this is the harsh reality.

"Horrific Experience at Assisted Living Claims Mom's Life"
Horrible experience for my dear mother. The problems started right within the first couple of weeks. Every time there was a complaint, they'd just say they'll look into it but nothing really improved. My mom spent seven heartbreaking months there. I should've noticed how drastically she transformed - she didn't even have the appetite to eat and ended up resembling a frail, old woman who probably didn't weigh more than 60 lbs. I detest that place. If it weren't for them, I could still be enjoying time with my mom.

"Regretful Narrative of Mother's Negligent Care at Assisted Living Facility"
My mother had her stay here for about seven months. Initially, we were shown a cozy, well-maintained, single room which we later realized was merely for show. Although they reassured us of her having a considerate roommate, the reality was disappointing. The dining space looked clean and multiple activities like bingo were introduced for the residents. However, mom's roommate was inconsiderate and often left her dirty personal items around the washroom. On one visit, I saw her struggling in her wheelchair, needing help. She had activated her emergency button and yet received no response even after an agonizing hour-long wait. Amidst these issues, my mother was shifted thrice into different rooms. My complaints about her ill-treatment were vaguely acknowledged with a 'we'll handle it". Subsequently, she was paired with a larger and imposing roommate, who left my petite, 4'10 mom frightened. She ended up having limited space for her stuff and felt overpowered. The cost of maintaining her limited private space was substantial. This was not proportionate to the reality that my 92-year old mother gradually withered away, while her roommate took over most of the room. Furthermore, my thrice-weekly visits with home-cooked meals, couldn't compensate for the unpleasant food at the facility. Regrettably, my mother passed away there. The staff reported her falling due to their momentary negligence which led to a subsequent stroke and her eventual demise. My mom's roommate affirmed the fatal accident was due to a mishandling by the staff. In hindsight, I regret placing her there and advise prospective families to thoroughly vet such facilities. Despite appearances, these places sometimes prioritize profit over care. Consider real testimonials before making such crucial decisions, something I failed to do. I disregarded a tenant's warning about the poor conditions and was swayed by the director's persuasive introduction. I subsequently realized that anyone giving a five-star rating might not be visiting their loved ones often enough to understand the realities.

"Caring Staff but Dining and Bathroom Issues Impact Experience"
The best part about this place is definitely the staff. They really care about my dad, especially during his first month here. However, the dining schedule is confusing for him. He sometimes forgets when meals are and doesn't realize there's more food after his salad or soup, so he leaves the table early. The bathrooms could use some work too—they're not kept up well when I visit. Overall, though, my dad seems happy and likes being here.

"Brookdale Casa Whittier: A Good Experience"
I haven't heard any big problems about Brookdale Casa Whittier. Everyone has keys to the rooms, maintenance, and housekeeping. It's a bit concerning that they don't specialize in Alzheimer's care. But they offer lots of activities if she wants to join. Overall, it's been good.
