"Assisted living with military discount and comprehensive care; recommend Brookdale Skyline."

We picked this place for the military discount and all care options. The kitchen staff seems short-handed. Overall, it's been good. I'd suggest Brookdale Skyline.

Check activities, ensure suitability, food okay, ample parking always.

"Assisted Living Facility with Varied Care Levels in Colorado Springs"

Brookdale Skyline in Colorado Springs offers all four levels of care: independent living with 200 apartments, assisted living, memory care, and rehabilitation and nursing care. They provide a smooth transition between care levels as needed. A notable perk is their discounts for military personnel. Overall, I would recommend Brookdale Skyline.

"Unfulfilled promises, inconsistent care, and meal issues."

The workers are nice, but promises aren't kept. Staff changes often. It's hard to get a weekly caregiver schedule. We pay for 14 hours of private care, but no schedule. Meals aren't prepared as instructed, despite doctor's orders.

"Great tour, chose smaller facility for better care"

We had a really good tour at Brookdale Skyline. The place was larger and had more residents. We chose a smaller facility with a better staff-to-resident ratio that was more suitable for our loved one's care needs.

"Room Nice, but Issues with Staff, Communication, and Billing"

Our relative stayed at Brookdale Skyline. Many staff changes happened. Communication and billing had problems. Medical care didn't meet expectations. Their apartment was lovely though.

"Frustrated by Lack of Care and Organization"

She went there for physical therapy but hardly gets any. They just hand her medication without really helping her through exercises. The medical team doesn't really talk to her. She just stays in bed all day and they take forever to answer when she needs them. This place is messy in every way.

"Ideal Location"

Overall, my experience with Brookdale Skyline has been good. Although there were some hiccups and misunderstandings, they usually find solutions that work for both of us. They offer a full schedule of activities, including a gym and a pool. The community is clean and well-maintained, and I think its location is ideal. Brookdale has a great reputation, and I'm mostly satisfied.

"So glad we chose this place"

My mom is really happy at Brookdale Skyline. She loves the food and likes that they have a bus to take them to the grocery store. The staff and caregivers are very attentive. The place is very clean. I’m really glad we chose this place. I was very impressed.

"Mom Didn't Choose, but Good for Needs"

We toured this place along with a few others. It was okay, met our needs, but Mom chose another community for her own reasons.

"Excellent Choice for a Wonderful Community"

My kids made a great choice for me when they picked Brookdale Skyline. It is a beautiful, well-kept, and clean place. The lobby feels warm and inviting, and the staff is friendly and helpful. This community is perfect for independent seniors. I have a nice duplex. The meals they serve are very good, with lots of choices. They have four different buildings where activities are offered, and residents can choose which ones they want to join. There’s an indoor pool that I plan to use soon. Transportation is available for residents to go to doctor appointments and shopping.

" Promising Facility; Disappointing Service "

We had great expectations of my dad finding friends to play cards with and settling into a nice routine at this assisted living facility. But to our disappointment, after almost two months, the staff haven't helped him connect with anyone apart from meal times. Their planned activities don't attract many people and they seem to put residents to sleep quite early, around 7pm. It's a letdown, especially when the place is so clean and neat. Ideally, a great place should come with great service but that's just not happening here. We're now thinking about finding a different place. The staff keeps changing and the new hires don't seem to be well-trained. It's all very disheartening.

"Mixed Experience at Spacious Assisted Living Facility"

Placing both my parents in assisted living was tough. Mom needed more care, so she moved to memory care. Things got better. The community was nice, though a bit big for them. Clean, well-kept place. Staff was pleasant, patient, and helpful with mom's issues. Lots of activities, but dad didn't join.

"Great care and excellent meals for dad"

We really like the care at this community. The staff is very caring, but they do need more people available to help. The place is clean and well-kept. The menu is amazing, and we’ve enjoyed the meals we’ve had with my father on different occasions. We suggest that families take a tour of this community for the great care and options they have for taking care of a loved one.

"Great place for care and comfort!"

Our friend's stay at this Brookdale location is going well! He really likes this place because it has the care and amenities he needs. Overall, this location is very nice, and we have no complaints!

"Happy Residents, Missing Memory Care"

The people working at Brookdale Skyline were really friendly. The folks living there seemed super happy. We decided not to pick this place because they don't have a memory care unit, and we knew our loved one would need it eventually.

"A Great Experience"

The tour guides were friendly and helpful, giving me useful information. They seemed fantastic to work with, always ready to help me find the right place for my parents. It didn't feel like they were just trying to sell something. I learned that all the Brookdale properties offer different levels of care and can guide you to the best one for you.

"Grand, but too large for Mom's comfort."

Brookdale was super cool, and the place looked amazing! But, it seemed too big for my mom, and I wasn't a fan of the room they showed. Still, overall, it's a beautiful community.

"Big Community with Professional Staff, Seeking Cozier Atmosphere"

We visited this community on our advisor's recommendation. The staff showed us around nicely, displaying activities, living spaces, and available rooms. They were professional and prepared. Overall, it was a great community, but it felt too large for our preference. We were hoping for a smaller, cozier environment.

"My parents are enjoying it!"

My mom's parents used to live here, so my mom felt really comfortable moving in. My parents love their cozy cottage and the friendly atmosphere. They get two meals a day, and the view from the dining room is breathtaking. Mom also enjoys getting her hair done in the community. The only minor issue has been the speed of maintenance requests, but I understand—they have around 180 cottages, not counting the apartments.

" "Horrific Experiences at Assisted Living Facility""

My mom spent time in both the rehab center and Clare Bridge Memory Care at this assisted living facility, and it was a disaster. While she was in rehab, she was poorly taken care of, often left sitting in dirty diapers and barely getting much-needed attention. I want to clarify that the therapists were not the problem, they seemed to be doing their jobs, but the overall care she received was just terrible. On top of that, she's still getting billed for a wheelchair, even though she passed away months ago. It seemed like they got her to sign the paperwork for the wheelchair, despite her significant memory issues, and now they don't even know where it is. Clare Bridge was one horror story after another; constant falls, smells of urine, missing clothing items and rude staff. Her mattress, which was practically brand new, was stained with urine and there was regularly dried diarrhea mess in her bathroom. It was so bad that when she was close to passing away, nobody informed us for a day and a half. I found her alone in her room, with everyone else outside enjoying a barbecue. It was heart-wrenching to lose precious time with her because she was left alone in such a condition. I wouldn't trust either center to look after even my neighbor's dog!

"Dad May Struggle in Large, Unsecured Facility"

We don't really think this place is right for dad. It's just too big and it doesn't have a safe zone to prevent him from getting lost. We believe he'll find it tough to manage in such a large facility.

"Amazing staff and beautiful views!"

The management and staff at Brookdale Skyline are very caring and compassionate. My father has faced many health issues, and Brookdale provides a wide range of services to help him. The people here are truly amazing! The location is fantastic, right by the mountains, and the big windows in the dining room look out over Colorado Springs with a beautiful view of the Garden of the Gods! My father loves living here and is very happy.

"Very happy and comfortable here!"

This place is really nice. Before Brookdale took over, I heard it wasn't great. But they invested millions into the property, and it shows! It’s beautiful, and the food is excellent. The service in the dining room can be a bit slow, but retired folks usually aren’t in a hurry. My parents are very happy and comfortable here. My mom swims every day to keep her joints flexible, and their apartment is huge for an assisted living place. It has walk-in closets, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. They really helped my parents settle in too. I'm very pleased!

"Wonderful Place with Caring Staff and Great Activities"

This place is excellent! The staff is really friendly and caring. You feel great as soon as you walk in. They provide everything anyone could want or need. I was very pleased with every part of the community. They have many programs to keep residents healthy and active.

"Misleading promises mar an otherwise decent assisted living experience."

This place looks nice and tidy. The people who work here are friendly and nice. The food tastes good to me. They have things to do, but my parents haven't tried any yet. One thing that bothered me is they didn't do what they promised. They said my parents could stay together, but they ended up in different places. It feels like they just said what I wanted to hear to get my parents to move in. Overall, I'd say it's alright, but they need to be more honest.

"Issues with medication and care at Brookdale Skyline"

We had a lot of problems with how Brookdale Skyline gave my mom her medication. She either got it late or didn't get it at all. Plus, they didn't even give it to her in the right order. There were also issues with the billing department about my mom's long-term care insurance. When we tried to move my mom into the community, there was a lot of doubt about whether they could look after her properly. Long story short, I had to hire a caregiver to look after my mom 24/7 for two weeks, which cost me $8,000, because they couldn't give her the care she needed. We were dealing with a guy named Mason at the time, and he rented out the room we were supposed to get for my mom without telling us. On the bright side, the food is really good and so are some of the nurses, and the place is really nice.

"Glitz And Glamour Overshadow Day-To-Day Concerns"

My family member is under memory care in this facility, and cleanliness seems to be lacking. The bathroom remains uncleaned since the previous occupant, and the carpet seems like no one ever vacuums it. The laundry service is somewhat messy, with several clothing items and a couple of towels being misplaced. I'm doubtful about the frequency of bedsheet changes. Once when I checked, I found urine-soaked sheets, and now the mattress is full of stains. Most of the workers aren't very friendly, especially the older woman managing the front desk. While the care isn't terrible, it falls short of expectations given the high price tag of this institution. My thoughts on the available activities are mixed because many occupants don't participate, which is understandable. When checking out the facility, it's advisable to look past the superficial charm and observe the existing residents. Ask other families about their experiences and any complaints they might have. Reviewing any other part aside from memory care in this facility would be difficult for me, but based on my assessments so far, I can only award a 3-star rating.

"Great support during a tough time!"

Mason at Brookdale at Skyline helped my mom transition smoothly. It was one of the most stressful times for me, trying to convince her not to be alone. Living out of state has been tough, but I feel so much better knowing she’s in a caring community. Great work!

"Friendly and helpful staff, clean facility, decent food."

This place has really nice people working here. The folks in the office, the caregivers, and the ones who fix stuff are all super friendly and always ready to lend a hand. The building is always clean and looks good. The food they serve isn't too shabby either.

3.5/5.00 Published 9 years ago

"Disorganized start, unfinished room"

When my parents arrived, the place was under renovation and disorganized. The room wasn’t ready, the toilet didn’t work, and they seemed unaware of their arrival.

"A Great Place with Friendly Staff and Good Food"

The Brookdale Skyline is truly a great place. It’s a very well-run and well-kept facility. The staff is always friendly and attentive, and the food is quite good. Overall, it’s a good experience.

"Fantastic Experience at Brookdale Skyline!"

Brookdale Skyline is amazing. He's very happy there, and I'm really pleased with everything. I can't think of anything they need to improve. It's been a great experience, and the facility is top-notch.

"A Lovely Home Away From Home"

I think the people who do the advertising were really nice; they didn't try to push us into anything. Right from when we started, they remembered what my family member likes. They're always friendly to her. She talks about how nice the staff is herself, and her apartment is cozy. There are tons of activities to do, and they even provide transportation. She hasn't said anything bad about it at all.

"Most Staff Are Really Nice at Brookdale Skyline"

At Brookdale Skyline, most of the staff are really nice. However, some dining room staff could be more pleasant they don't seem very patient. Overall, it's been a pleasant experience. .

"Needs Improved Communication"

I believe they could do better with communication. For example, my mom has diabetes and high blood pressure. When we arrived, they assured us they'd provide her with the right food. However, this only happens if they receive a doctor's order, which they didn't inform us about. It was frustrating. They talked a lot but didn't take things seriously. Even when my mom went to the hospital, they called us, but couldn't tell us which hospital she was in. On the positive side, they actively help her socialize. There are caring people there.

"Best place in Colorado Springs - 6 stars!"

This is the best place in Colorado Springs! We live in a cottage with a beautiful view of Cheyenne Mountain, and we even have deer in our yard. It feels great to be as independent as we can be. Some residents have lived here for over 14 years. If you want five-star care with friendly and caring staff, large apartments or cottages, and classy people from the westside, this is the place for you. We have a great mix of professionals living here, like retired doctors, surgeons, city officials, business owners, former models, military officers, and more. I give it six stars!

"Great Place, but Cafeteria Is a Little Slow"

Nice Location, but Too Many Acronyms. The dining room decor is a bit outdated, and the staff is relatively junior. They’re friendly but sometimes a little slow. Overall, my dad is happy and in good hands. The nurses and staff are great, and he’s never complained. We’re happy.

"Great Care in a Nice Place"

My mom was only there for seven days (she passed away due to cancer), so we didn't have much experience to go on. However, the care and experience during that time were really good. The place was very nice, and the staff provided excellent care.

"Mom loves it here, and we're thrilled with Skyline!"

My mother is so happy here. The apartments are great, and the views are amazing. There are plenty of places to walk, many friends to meet, and lots of activities to do. I don’t know of anywhere like this in Colorado. Whatever she needs is available. We're very pleased with her decision to live at Skyline, and so is she!

"Nice Place with Excellent Care"

My mom only stayed there for ten days because she fell and broke her hip, which meant she had to go to rehab. Even though our time there was short, the experience was really good. It’s a very nice place with excellent care and friendly people.

"NEEDS MORE HELP IN THE DINING ROOM AT ALL TIMES!"

For the most part, we really like Brookdale at Skyline. The place is super clean, well-maintained, and the grounds are beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful. Mom’s apartment was also very clean, freshly painted, and spacious. Our main issue is that there never seems to be enough help in the dining room. Trying to get into Sunday brunch is super stressful and involves a long wait. Mom has given up and just gone back to her apartment. It’s not right that she only gets one meal on Sundays, and that really upsets us. Some servers seem overworked, and they forget to say ‘you’re welcome’ or ‘I’ll be with you in a moment.’ Overall, that’s our biggest complaint.

"Short handed in the dining room."

We've mostly liked Brookdale Skyline. The place is super clean and well-maintained. My mom's unit was freshly painted and ready for her. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. The downside is they're really short-staffed in the dining room. Some servers are curt, and food takes a while. They seem stressed with too many tables. They need more help. A simple 'You're welcome' would make a big difference.

"Affordable Care Program Allows Transition to Independent Living"

The facility costs $9000 a month. They offer a PALS program, so if eventually, Grandpa isn't there anymore, Toni can transition to independent living but still receive aid with important tasks such as managing medications or showering. All levels of care are available.

"Decent Assisted Living with Variety of Activities and Kind Staff"

The activities at this assisted living facility seem really fun and there's a lot to pick from. The workers are super friendly and helpful. I chose it because I liked the design of the dining area and the rooms, and noticed that staff was always interacting with people. They were kind and always got back to us about deals or offers they had, but never made us feel like we had to make a decision right away. The tour around was laid back and transparent. The man leading us around even knew people by name.

"Activities lacking, good staff, pricey. Not fully satisfied."

The assisted living place costs too much for what you get. I was hoping for more things to do, but there weren't many. The person I talked to was really nice, though. That's why we chose this place.

"Eye-Opening Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

Our tour of Village was impressive at first, with an amazing view and a friendly sales manager. But everything fell apart a week before my parents were supposed to move in. They got a call pushing the move-in date back a week, which upset me and my parents. I had already made travel arrangements, and their movers were booked for a specific date. With the delayed move, we found their apartment wasn't even ready. There were ongoing work, things like missing shower heads and wrongly installed doors. My mom tried reaching out to the personalized living team but was left hanging for the first couple of days. Frustratingly, it took her multiple calls and conversations with various staff members to finally make contact with someone. Also, the food is okay at best. While half the staff at the dining room were friendly, the other half felt unapproachable. We tried having a dinner reservation at 5:00pm. Although the place wasn't full, we waited for 25 minutes to place our order, and another 25 for the food to arrive. When we questioned the hostess, she replied rudely. She was indifferent about our long wait just to place an order. It's sad seeing how poorly things are at this facility. We wanted a pleasant place for our visits with my parents and for them to receive excellent service from warm-hearted staff. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience. We heard about an elderly gentleman who rented an apartment here. He began interacting with the facility by dining there monthly but the poor service and rude staff discouraged him from moving in. He died alone in his house.

"Great views and nice rooms with outdoor balconies!"

Beautiful views and nice-sized rooms! Each room has a sliding glass door leading to an outside balcony. You can see the Garden of the Gods or Cheyenne Mountain. The prices are a bit higher, but many things are included. There’s a lovely bird sanctuary inside. I like how the pricing works for extras. The security gate closes at night, but you can enter with a code.

"Connected Units for All Levels of Care, Food Needs Improvement"

The facility has four different areas for various needs, from independent living to memory care. It's great that all the buildings are connected, so residents can visit each other without going outside. My mother-in-law says the food isn't great, but I think it's decent.

"Clean, Bright, and Friendly Assisted Living Facility!"

Wow, this place is really nice! It's clean, bright, and the staff is friendly. The apartments are a bit small, but I loved the cottages—they'd be perfect for my Mom. The only downside is that the location is a bit remote, so it's not convenient for walks to shopping or church. Overall, though, it's a really nice facility!
