"Beautiful and welcoming option for respite care"
Beautiful and welcoming place. I really appreciated every staff member and resident I met and talked with. This is a good option for respite care for my family member.

"Impressed by Friendly Staff and Amazing Food!"
I recently visited Morning Star Mount Shadows while looking for a senior care facility. I was really impressed with the staff; everyone was helpful, caring, and friendly. The presentation and quality of the food were outstanding. It looked like a meal from a nice restaurant, which was not what I expected from a care facility. The residents seemed happy and enjoyed their meals. You should be very proud of your facility and the people who work there!

""Advertisements Mislead with Promises of Quality Meals at Morning Star""
If you're indifferent to the appearance, taste, or texture of your meals, then Morning Star might suffice. However, if their advertisements lead you to expect chef-prepared meals, then you'll likely be disappointed. Particularly if you have a loved one in the Alzheimer's unit who requires a mechanical-soft or pureed diet, don't be duped by the ads. The fancy language they use in their ads is just to give an impression of superior service and high-quality meals to families. Even in the main dining hall, most foods are merely frozen items that resemble what is found at Costco, not scratch-made meals by chefs. Whenever a family attempts to hold them accountable, a ceaseless dispute ensues. I tried to post photos but was unsuccessful.

"Deceptive Ads; Morning Star's Mediocre Meal Reality"
If you're okay with mediocre meals, Morning Star suits you. But don't trust their ads promising chef-quality dishes - they're misleading. To those with a loved one needing mechanical soft or pureed food in the Alzheimer's unit, don't be deceived. The ads become a façade for the families, making them believe their relatives will enjoy high-quality meals. Often, the main dining provides none better than regular Costco-like frozen food; no scratch-made delicacies like chefs would prepare. Family members hoping for the ad's promise to materialize inevitably end up in a never-ending dispute. Regrettably, I couldn't upload any photos here for reference.

"Great care but slow admin process."
My mom is still getting used to MorningStar, but she's doing well. The place is clean and well-kept, and I believe she’s getting the best care they can offer. The only issue I’m having is with the admin side of things. I need help with a few things, and they're taking a bit longer than I’d like. However, this might get better. Overall, I’m happy with the facility and it’s a nice place.

"We Knew This Was The Place When We Toured"
My dad is doing great with the help of the very courteous and helpful staff. He enjoys the meals and gets two entrée choices with ice cream for dessert. They also have basic substitutions available. He likes the people and residents living there. We chose this facility because it’s close to me, which is really nice. He is doing home physical therapy and is doing so well that he dropped down a level of care. His room is very nice, and housekeeping does a great job. It has a hilltop view and a porch. I often see him on the porch when I visit. He participates in activities like exercising and is going on a scenic tour to the mountains. He enjoys showing the little bistro to his guests and offers them hot chocolate, cookies, and popcorn. It feels very safe and almost perfect. The long-term incentives are a great bonus.

"The Most Homey Community We Found"
After checking out many places, we found this one to be the best. It felt the most like home. My in-laws wanted a smaller, cozier place. We’re really happy with how they’re treated here, and my in-laws are satisfied with the community. Everything worked out perfectly for us, and they’re doing great.

"Great place, but too far for us. Dad loved it."
I visited this cool community. It was really clean and big. It's larger than we wanted, but my dad would have loved all the activities they have here. Unfortunately, it's farther away than we hoped. Still, I think other families should check it out for their loved ones.

"Great Experience Despite the Price"
MorningStar Assisted Living Mountain Shadows is doing great. They call and let us know about any fall or injury, even if it’s minor. It is pricey, but you get a lot for what you pay. Overall, it’s been a really good experience here.

"Amazing Care at Morning Star"
My Grandma lived here until she passed away. We can’t say enough good things about Morning Star. From our first visit, we felt comfortable and appreciated all the help Shirley gave us. We never felt pressured and knew the staff wanted us to choose them only if it was the best fit. After visiting many homes in town, we chose Morning Star. The facility is new, clean, and beautiful. The staff is absolutely wonderful, from reception to every caregiver and administrator. They even visited my Grandma in the hospital when she got sick, and the care was excellent when she returned. If you’re looking for a great place with caring people, Morning Star should be high on your list.

"Excellent Care and Beautiful Environment for My Mother"
This facility was brand new when my mother moved in, so all the staff were really eager to help. They have kept up their excellent service even eight months later. The place is spacious, clean, bright, and welcoming. There are daily activities and weekly outings for residents. The food is great, and the dining room is warm and inviting with lots of light. My mother’s needs are all being met, including her need for socialization. The cost is very high, but it matches the quality of care provided.

"Great service, friendly staff, and he loves the animals!"
We’re happy with the service we’ve received. He seems to like the staff! We had some trouble getting a haircut, but we got it sorted out. There have been some problems with the pharmacy, but we think they’re being handled. Everything’s been okay, but there’s room to get better. I like that it’s a smaller place. He’s settled in better than we thought he would. Everyone seems to be well taken care of! My loved one loves the animals that are there!

" "Could Do Better: Communication and Staffing Concerns in Beautiful Facility""
This place works best for folks who don't need lots of help. The nursing team didn't communicate with us, which was disappointing. Even when we filled out emergency instructions, they didn't follow it. There are some real nice folks there, but it's like they're promising one thing and delivering something else. The building is brand new and really beautiful, though. Some of the really good staff aren't there anymore. And if a doctor tells a resident to take medicine three times a day or as needed, they'll get it three times a day. They don't have the medical team who can make that call. I don't think they have enough people working there.

"Great place with cute dog and fresh cookies every morning!"
This is a really nice place! They had a cute dog and served fresh-baked cookies every morning. The sales lady was very helpful and asked me a lot of questions about what we needed. This place is on my "short list," so I might come back to it.
