"Costly medical transport, care improvement needed, cozy environment, limited food."
I'm concerned about extra charges for medical transport. Care needs improvement. Positive: cozy atmosphere. Food variety lacking, picky eater.

"Serenity House is a great place for my Aunt"
I don’t have any complaints about Serenity House. Everything seems to be going well. My Aunt looks healthy and she’s definitely eating better. The staff knows what kind of care she needs and they are all pretty friendly. They are also good at calming down residents with dementia if they get upset. I don’t have any concerns about her or any of the other residents. The facility always looks nice to me. The bathrooms are always clean, the laundry is always done, and overall they seem to be keeping on top of everything.

"Wonderful home with great care and activities"
This place is really nice, and the setup for the 12 residents works great. My mother-in-law has a nice shared room and she likes her roommate. The meals are all homemade, and the grounds are beautiful with a covered patio and a walking path. Everything is fenced in and secure, so I don’t have to worry about her safety. They have activity sessions in the morning and afternoon, and they do field trips for those who want to go. They keep the residents busy all day long. We are very happy with the care here.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
My dad stayed there four years ago and passed away. The staff was friendly but came from different countries, so he had trouble understanding them. Also, the food wasn't good. They served hot dogs, chips, sandwiches, and not much healthy food. I thought the care was good. They were kind to him, and the owner was very nice to us. However, I think they need more staff or volunteers. Many retirees would want to help with non-medical tasks. The house and rooms were very clean. Overall, it was a nice place.

"Lovely Place; Staffing & Food Could Improve"
My father lived here four years ago until he passed away. The staff members were really nice, but they came from diverse backgrounds, and consequently, he found it hard to comprehend them. Besides, the food they served wasn't great. Lunch often consisted of hot dogs, chips, and sandwiches, which weren't particularly nutritious. However, I believe they took good care of him. They treated him kindly, and the owner, was very hospitable towards us. In my view, they could do with more staff or even volunteers. Lots of retired folks wish to volunteer, and they could assist in non-medical duties. The cleanliness of the house and rooms was commendable. It was indeed a nice place to live.

"Serenity House: A Homey, Well-Managed Place"
Serenity House has been awesome for us. My mom has only been there a couple of months, but we know she is being well taken care of. The place is clean and well managed. It feels very homey, which was important to us. Since the homes are smaller and have fewer residents, we feel Mom gets the special attention she needs. The meals are really nice too. We are very happy with our choice.

"Good care, but felt misled about hospice services"
Serenity House Assisted Living did a good job overall. However, towards the end of my father-in-law's life, they seemed a bit sneaky. They first asked one hospice to assess him, and when that hospice said he didn't qualify, they brought in a different one the next day who said he did. This made us feel uneasy. Unfortunately, he declined very quickly, which we knew could happen because of his dementia, but it happened faster than we thought. Despite this issue, we were happy with the facility up until then, and my father-in-law liked living there.

"Fantastic and caring facility!"
Serenity House is an amazing place for many reasons. The owner is a physical therapist, so he really knows his stuff. This facility, along with his others, is very organized and well-staffed. The staff members are caring, attentive, and they do their best to keep the residents active and involved. I highly recommend this place!

"Personalized care and welcoming environment"
We searched for months until we found Serenity House for my father-in-law, who had dementia. I had never heard of a "group home" for dementia patients before. They were cheaper than the bigger assisted living homes and much more personalized. This location was great for our family because it was close to our home. We could be very involved in his care. They are very welcoming and truly care about their services. They offer rides to and from doctor visits and have outings twice a month, usually to a local restaurant. They also have people come in to give haircuts, manicures, and pedicures at a very reasonable price. The caregivers make homemade meals three times a day, do laundry daily, and help with personal care. After looking at several places and what they offered, Serenity House was definitely the right place at the right time.

"Perfect small, caring place for dementia care close to home."
We searched for months before finding Serenity House for my father-in-law, who has dementia. I didn’t know about group homes for dementia before, but they turned out to be a great option. They cost less than larger assisted living facilities and offer much more personalized care. This place was convenient for us since it’s close to our home, so we could be involved in his care. The staff are friendly and genuinely care about what they do. They provide transportation to doctor appointments and have outings twice a month, usually to a local restaurant. They also arrange for haircuts and manicures at a reasonable price. The caregivers prepare homemade meals three times a day, handle laundry daily, and assist with personal care. After exploring several options, we found that Serenity House was definitely the best choice for us.

"Not Enough Staff for Residents"
This was one of the first places I checked out, and I wasn't really sure what I was looking for at that time. It seemed like they only had one person there for too many residents. I just wasn't sure if they had enough staff to take care of everyone. Supposedly, they had two people during meal times and bedtime, but with eight residents, it's hard to say if that's enough. If everyone needs a lot of help, I can't imagine how they manage.

"Almost Felt Like They Were Understaffed"
This place was one of the first ones I checked out and didn't exactly know what to expect. It felt like they were short-staffed. I wasn't convinced they had enough folks caring for all the residents. That was just my impression. Apparently, there were two staff members during mealtimes and bedtimes, but if eight people needed help, two people might not be enough depending on the level of care required. If everyone needed a lot of assistance, it's tough to think how they'd handle it.

"A Place for Mom found the perfect home for Mom"
We needed to find a place for my mom quickly. She had been in the ER/hospital since Saturday night and couldn’t go back to her assisted living facility. I called A Place for Mom late Sunday night. A friend connected me with Serenity House, and they visited Mom the next morning. By Tuesday, we had her in a warm home environment. They have been wonderful and caring. They were very thorough and concerned about setting up her care. We are very happy with our experience so far.

"Caring, Loving, and Fun Caregivers"
The caregivers are what really made me choose this place. They are such a caring, loving, and fun group of people. The way they interact with the residents shows how passionate they are about their jobs and how much they care about the residents. The food smells really good, and my loved one hasn’t complained about it, so it must be good. Overall, we are happy with Serenity House.

"Experienced Owner Runs 14 Local Care Homes with Skill & Affordability"
Michael Zisliss's Residential Care Homes—Secure, Caring, and Experienced" Michael Zisliss owns the residential care home we observed. Actually, he has 14 of these homes all around the city. He's pretty skilled at running them. Some of his homes have tight security, while some others don't. He's been a physical therapist for more than 20 years. So, he knows how to take really good care of the people living in his homes. Living here might cost you about $3500 every month. And another thing, he accepts Medicaid.
