Sunrise at University Park

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living"
The medical care is just okay. The food is like what you'd expect at a place like this. The hallway carpets are dirty. I'd only recommend it if you're looking for a place to stay, but not for anything else.

"Memory Unit Needs Improvement in Assisted Living Facility"
The part where they help people could improve, but the Memory Unit isn't good. They need to change things. It's like they don't talk to each other. I had to take my husband out after one month. There were too many things happening, and I couldn't keep leaving him there. I found a new place, and my husband hasn't fallen since.

"Safe Assisted Living with Room for Food Improvement"
I’m glad Sunrise of University Park is safe. They do well overall, but the food variety needs improvement. I recommend it.

"Welcoming and Clean Community with Friendly Staff and Helpful Details"
Sunrise of University Park is a small and friendly place. It was easy to find my way around. The place was very clean, and the other people who live there seemed happy. The staff were really nice and made me feel welcome. There were lots of little things that I didn't know about at first, like how they do laundry, take care of people at night, and help those with dementia. Assisted living costs a lot of money everywhere, which seems crazy to me. But overall, I would tell others to consider Sunrise of University Park.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
The assisted living facility should work on cleaning my loved one's room, daily care, and communication. The management isn't very responsive. It's suitable for active, mobile individuals who can do things independently. If your loved one requires higher-level care, consider another community.

"Disappointing Assisted Living Experience"
We visited this place and weren't impressed. It felt like dealing with a used car salesman. The person we talked to only cared about numbers and getting us to sign. He didn't ask anything about our loved one's needs. The residents didn't seem happy. The place itself wasn't terrible.

"Untruthful Sale, Inappropriate Behavior at Senior Facility"
My mom stayed there for a fortnight. The lady who tried selling us the place told fibs about the overall cost, right after she finished smooching one of the kitchen employees in her office. We were super unhappy about the whole thing. So, we took my mom out of there immediately.

"Affordable and Modern Assisted Living in Colorado Springs"
The Sunrise community is a great choice for anyone who can afford it. It's not the most expensive option among assisted living places in Colorado Springs, but it's still too pricey for my mom, even with her full VA spousal benefit and Social Security. The facility is new and well taken care of. It's located on a big road. The property is fenced, but the parking entrance is open, and the building is accessible during the day.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living Facility"
The place is friendly and they listen to my concerns. The people who run it seem experienced. But the caregivers change a lot. It took some time for them to figure out a routine for my mom. They check on her often though. The doctor they have isn't impressive. We'll see if things get better. Mom hasn't made friends yet. Maybe she just needs more time. The staff could help her be more social. I'm happy to be nearby to help her.

The staff here is super friendly, and the smaller size of the facility is really nice. But unfortunately, it doesn’t quite meet our loved one’s needs.

"Nice Staff, Small Place, Not Right For Our Loved One"
The people working here are really nice. I also like how small this place is. Still, it just doesn't seem like the right place for our family member's needs.

"Staff Phenomenal, Food Needs Improvement"
I really like this place. The people who work here are amazing. They do a great job taking care of us, and the building is always super clean. They made some nice changes to the nurse area, everything is easy to find now. The dining room looks good too, but the food is kinda blah. They should get a better cook and more choices. They have cool stuff to do though, like a salon, nail painting, hangouts every day, and trips out. I think other families should check this place out.

"Hospital-like feel and older building chose different community."
I visited this place. It was clean and nice. The staff was helpful, but it seemed too much like a hospital. Also, the building was really old. We picked a different place.

"Not the Ideal Place for Mom"
I visited this place, and it was clean and pleasant. The staff was friendly. However, it felt too much like a hospital, which wasn't what we wanted. Plus, the building was quite old. So, we decided to go somewhere else.

My mom loves this place!
"AWESOME PLACE WITH CARING STAFF!"
I absolutely LOVE this place and can't say enough good things about it. Their caregivers are compassionate, loving, and kind, unlike other places that just hire people to do a job. Sunrise hires people who truly care about the elderly. Then, they train them to meet personal needs.

"NO Need to look any further"
My mom really loves this place, considering her personality. She’s doing well and receiving good care. Personally, I wish she’d be more social, but that’s just not her. She avoids common areas because she doesn’t want to chat with people. The 4th of July picnic was great, although we couldn’t attend due to prior commitments. The staff, especially the executive director, is wonderful. He addressed all my concerns promptly, and after researching extensively, I found everything I needed for my mom’s well-being.

"Very happy with her care and family updates!"
We put my sister in the memory care area, and we are very happy with her care. The staff is great, the food is good, and they keep us updated on her care and how she’s adjusting. Our whole family is happy with this choice.

"Great community, but smaller apartment and fewer activities."
This community is clean and nice, with friendly staff and residents. However, the apartment was smaller, didn't have a porch or outdoor view, and wasn't close to family. There were also fewer activities than our other option.

"Could use some tidying up at Sunrise University Park"
When I visited Sunrise at University Park, unfortunately, I found it wasn't all that neat. I went to use the restroom and found it could use some cleaning. The same went for the hallways and other areas. All the folks were really nice, but it wasn't exactly what we wanted.

"Great Community, Impressive Staff, Found Better Fit, Clean Environment"
I had a really good tour of this place. The people who work there were really nice and they helped me understand everything I asked. They also told me a lot of useful stuff. The place looked like they take good care of it, and it was clean. I thought it was really nice. We found another place that suited my mom better, but this one is still very good.

"Disheartening Experience at Senior Living - Colorado Springs, CO"
The team isn't all that warm, and our rep looked indifferent. They're making us pay extra per pill for my dad and the only 2-bed room almost feels like a hospital room'.

"Can't do much better than this!"
Mom has been living at Sunrise for a while now, and she’s been really happy since moving in. She used to work in a place like this and loves how well-kept everything is and how friendly the staff are. The food is fantastic, and the restaurant-style dining area makes mealtime really enjoyable. Mom looks forward to movie nights and playing Bingo with the other residents. I’d definitely recommend it!

"Costly, Only Memory Care May Not Suffice for Grandpa"
The costs are $9000 each month, but they don't offer skilled care. They do provide care for memory loss issues, similar to what Sunrise in Glen Ellyn does. However, I'm not sure if this would be enough for Grandpa since he may need more assistance than what the memory care service can provide. We should inquire further.

"Very happy with their service and care"
I’m really happy with them. They always respond quickly to me. The activities for memory care are a bit fewer than the rest of the community, and the memory care unit is pretty small. The food is amazing. I chose Sunrise because friends told me great things about it. I like that it’s secure, has lots of space, and is very social. The atmosphere is great too.

"Friendly staff and good activities, but a bit pricey."
They are a bit expensive. The activities are getting better, but it really depends on the person. The staff is super friendly, helpful, and caring. I’ve only had a few small issues. I visited and had breakfast, lunch, and dinner there one day.

"Overall Satisfactory Experience"
The place is pretty good, but the views aren't great except for one room that faces south and west. The food is probably the best thing here, but it's also the most expensive. My mom doesn't drink at all, so the fact that they offer three free glasses of wine every day would be a bit of a turn-off for her.

"Outstanding care and support for my mom!"
We are getting more than we expected. The care is excellent, and the staff really keeps track of everything. My mom is 91 years old and has COPD and complications from a stroke. If anything is wrong, they always call me. This morning, they called because her oxygen level was low and explained how they got it back up. We decided to send her to the hospital, and staff from the community met us there. One morning, she was late to breakfast, and the chef sat with her so she wouldn’t have to eat alone. The food is great, and she has her own room and bathroom. Tessa Lancaster has been amazing. She was the first person I spoke with. We’ve had a very positive experience.

"Cozy Atmosphere but Limited Space"
This place feels like a warm home, very cozy. It's like a big family. But the rooms are tiny, so it can feel cramped. Lots of people hang out in the shared spaces, which is nice. But if you need more personal space, it might not be the best fit. They don't offer transportation, though.
