"Poor tour, overwhelmed owner, not suitable for loved one."
Our tour at Verandas at Wheat Ridge wasn't good. Bad smell, unattractive. The owner seems nice but overwhelmed. Not suitable for loved one.

"Horrific living conditions and neglect at local assisted living facility"
For a year, my father-in-law was a resident at this assisted living facility, and his experience was completely horrifying. He suffers from dementia and requires a catheter, but the level of care he received was disgraceful. There was dishonesty from the staff, with consistent lies being fed to our family. The appalling state of his living conditions was heartbreaking - his room was marked with urine stains and his once-new bed was ruined with blood and urine spots. The hygiene standards for medical supplies were not met either. His catheter bags were carelessly mixed - dirty ones filled with urine were lying next to clean ones. Despite clear instructions that his bags were to be changed weekly, it was done only once a month. That would explain his repeated urinary tract infections. We discovered from other residents that he had to constantly plead to have his bag emptied. Nutrition? The facility's idea of a nutritious meal was frozen fish sticks, tater tots and, for breakfast, cereal served cold. They didn't maintain his personal hygiene either. He was not bathed regularly, leading him to have long, uncut fingernails and greasy, dirty hair. I was forced to clean all his clothes due to their awful smell. Absurdly, he didn't even have a pillowcase on his pillow. The facility even deprived him of entertainment, removing his cable which left him unable to watch TV. I noticed they kept birds, but woefully, no food was provided for them. I learned from another resident that she had started buying food for them out of her own pocket. This facility is a complete farce! I feel a deep regret every day that we ever allowed our father to stay there, and I will post my review with pictures as proof on Google.

"Verandas Assisted Living: Mixed Experience, Self-Sufficiency Expectations"
My mom stayed at Verandas for 5 weeks before moving to a Hospice facility. She wasn't happy with the service there. As her health declined, she needed help dressing and eating. Verandas expects clients to be more self-sufficient. The facility was clean, rooms nice, and food good. The owner even worked with us on the payment requirement.
