"Friendly Staff and Residents Check Insurance Coverage Before Committing"
The assisted living place has been really helpful, but it doesn't fit with our long term care insurance. Still, it's worth considering. I enjoy the residents they're friendly, and we have good interactions. The caregivers are also friendly and helpful.

"Friendly Staff, Mixed Value, Recommend for Evaluation"
The people at Academy Point are super friendly. When they really nail the care, it's awesome. But sometimes it doesn't feel like we're getting everything we paid for. Still, based on our experience, we'd suggest other families check it out.

"Caring Staff Makes a Difference"
We're really happy overall. After dinner, it would be nice to have an activity. Some patients find that time difficult, but there's no activity then. They've been a bit slow in scheduling a reevaluation for our loved one. But the best thing about them is the staff—everyone, from custodians to food staff, is wonderful and caring toward the patients.

"Facility Feels Outdated, Staff Not Very Welcoming"
When our family visited the assisted living place, it seemed kind of old-fashioned and not very up-to-date. The woman we talked to didn’t make us feel all that welcome or comfortable.

"Wonderful care and support in a family-like assisted living facility"
Academy Point gave my parents a chance to be together in my father's last days. The staff was always professional, caring, and treated them with respect from the start. They took great care of my father, both in the memory care unit during the day and in their apartment at night. Even though my father's health got worse quicker than we thought, the medical and personal care teams were incredibly helpful to both my mother and our family. I strongly recommend Academy Point for anyone looking for a warm, family-like atmosphere in an assisted living facility.

From the moment I began searching for a dementia unit for my mom, the administrative staff impressed me. They took the time to meet with both me and my mom, providing valuable information and answering our questions. Their professionalism and kindness stood out. The facility itself feels like home. Unlike a nursing home, the memory care unit doesn't have that institutional vibe. The nurse manager of the harbor unit is incredibly knowledgeable about dementia care. She has been instrumental in adjusting my mom's medications to better manage her symptoms and ensuring she has the necessary medical equipment. However, I did notice a couple of downsides. During the second shift, more staff are needed to attend to residents' needs. The 4 pm to 8 pm activity aide position seems vacant, leaving the two aides on that shift too busy with dinner and evening care. Residents end up sitting unattended in the living room area, waiting for their turn. Another area for improvement is the utilization of nursing staff. With only one nurse responsible for passing medications to all residents, there's little time for other assessments or interactions. Despite these challenges, I plan to visit my mom occasionally during earlier hours to assess the care provided. Placing a loved one in a dementia care unit or any type of care facility is a significant decision, and I appreciate the efforts of the staff to provide the attention these vulnerable individuals deserve.

"Bathrooms Need Better Cleaning"
They should improve bathroom cleaning, especially the toilets. Some folks need them cleaned more often.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living Facility"
The assisted living part of this place is great. The folks there are friendly and smart. But the memory care section wasn’t right for us. It felt gloomy, cramped, and not too tidy.
