"Assisted Living Facility: Neglect and Poor Emergency Response Criticized"
This is what I saw today: I was there myself, not from some other place trying to make trouble (yeah, they even asked me about that). I saw something really upsetting happen with another person living there. I was at the gym when I saw a man who was really not feeling good. He was struggling so much he almost passed out. I asked if he needed help because he could hardly even stand up, even with a walker. I looked all over the first floor for someone to help, but there was nobody. I told him to press his emergency button, and he did. But nobody showed up. Five minutes passed, and still nothing. Even more time went by, and nobody came. So, I decided to go up to the front desk to tell them that someone in the gym needed help. They said they knew about it but couldn't find him. I went back downstairs and saw a lady had finally come. But she was really mean. She didn't listen when he asked for a wheelchair and just started pushing him really hard on his walker. When he said he was frustrated because nobody came after he pressed the emergency button, she just said, "Well, I'm here now." I told her she only came because I told the front desk, and she just got kind of mad and said the same thing again. I was really shocked by how she acted, but more importantly, she ignored his request for a wheelchair, which he really needed. I went back upstairs to think about what I saw and to tell someone. They introduced me to a manager. I said I wouldn't want my 84-year-old mom treated like that if she needed help.
