"Clean, Friendly, and Caring: Maplewood Assisted Living Review"
Maplewood is super clean and smells great. The staff, including aides, nurses, and housekeeping, always greet you. My Dad doesn’t participate in activities, but overall, we’re happy with his care. The food could be better, though. Price went up recently. As long as you visit and stay involved, Maplewood is a good choice.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
It looked nice, but the care wasn't as good as promised. Only one staff member for many residents. Not enough planned activities. No outdoor time. Dining room is pretty but understaffed. Limited help with menu choices. Long waits. Administration problems. Overall, not impressed.

"Comfortable and caring with room for food improvement"
I really enjoy living in this nice, peaceful, and sunny place. The whole staff is focused on our comfort and health. The medical team is very professional. Overall, the environment is caring and quick to respond to residents' needs; it's a well-organized and efficient place. On the downside, the food could be fresher, have more seasoning, and offer more variety.

"Wonderful Place for Loved Ones!"
Maplewood at Newtown is awesome. The staff is super friendly and really care. They were very helpful and met our needs right away. They take great care of my loved one. The food is delicious, and when I sit with the residents, they are always chatting and happy. They post a list of activities every day, and there are so many to choose from. Residents can make flowers, paint, get their hair and nails done, and go on outings. Some activities cost extra, but many are free. Their dedication to the residents is amazing—they even stayed overnight during snowstorms. I feel my loved one is very safe and well cared for here.

"Poor Management and Communication"
This assisted living place doesn't have enough staff and they're all honestly talking about the issue. The people that help out, including the nurses, food servers, and activity planners, are really nice and know everybody's names. The people in charge aren't good and they don't properly handle problems. The communication here is really bad— they don't have a system in place to talk about the residents' needs between the different areas and with the families.

"Have In-depth Discussion With Staff Prior to Move In"
The facility is indeed impressive and both the staff and residents are easy to get along with. The downside is, it almost feels like the staff are not communicating with each other. We get different information about the same issue from different people. Even though the employees are nice, it does not seem like they remember the fact that they are taking care of people suffering from diverse kinds of dementia at varying stages. Sometimes, the residents looked unkempt, their rooms were not clean and we still had to provide nursing care while visiting. My recommendation would be to take the time to talk to the staff in-depth before moving your loved ones in. Discuss their medical records, their medication, what works for them, what help they need, who to reach out to and who you can get in touch with. This will not only ease the transition but also avoid unnecessary issues and ensure things go smoothly.

"Impressed with Maplewood, everyone is happy!"
My loved ones have only been here a short time, but we’re all very impressed with Maplewood at Newtown! They seem happier and more relaxed now that they are getting some help, and my family feels much better knowing someone is looking in on them. The staff made the move-in process easy. They helped with the paperwork and even assisted my loved ones in hanging some paintings once they settled in!

"Maplewood is the best choice for my mom!"
My mom has mild dementia. She lived independently until she was 91, still strong and able to take care of herself. Then she started showing signs of paranoia and mild dementia. Other facilities we looked at thought she needed to be in a locked unit for Alzheimer’s patients, even though she could still shop, cook, and clean by herself! They were more worried about their convenience than what was best for her. Maplewood was different. They welcomed my mom into a unit where she can interact with all the residents, no matter their mental status. She can eat and join activities with everyone. They also give her extra help when she feels stressed or paranoid. Her wing is locked at night, but not during the day. I can’t say enough about Maplewood’s dedication to meeting my mom’s needs. The staff is super kind, and the food is amazing. My mom still wishes she could live independently, but she can’t, and I thank God for Maplewood.

"Maplewood's Service Drop Amid Rising Costs and Aesthetic Upgrades"
Maplewood's Services Dip Despite Price Hike and Facility Beautification" Maplewood's performance, especially in their service area, has gone downhill in recent years despite the prices going up. It's a real shame because they were showing signs of improvement. The place looks great, but senior citizens much need proper and serious care seems to be dwindling. Their previous skilled activities director left and it took them months to find a replacement. They finally settled on a unexperienced college student. Their reason for the delay was that they were 'carefully screening applicants'. They don't take their own activities seriously - they don't encourage the residents to participate and often forget to organize them. Seems like they were just trying to save some money with their new hire. The healthcare staff are friendly but are so busy, they can't provide the level of care they promised. Also, they're instructed not to interact with family members. The kitchen staff are nice but the food could use some work - it often tastes overcooked and recycled, even though they promise a farm to table experience. On a brighter note, they did recently give the exterior a new paint job and a thorough clean. Maybe that's where all the price hike money has been going to?

"Great place with friendly staff!"
My loved one hasn’t moved in yet, but after all my tours and working with the staff, I’ve had only good experiences with Maplewood! The place is well-kept, clean, and looks really nice. The staff, from the caregivers to the administration, have all been very friendly and easy to work with.

"Great Appearance, Staff Attitude Disappointing"
This place looked amazing, like a fancy country club. It was all neat and tidy. But, during our walk-around, we noticed that the workers didn't really seem friendly with the people living there. They appeared bothered by them. The residents weren't showing happy vibes in general, and we didn't believe that it would be a good environment for our loved ones.

"Mid-Level Memory Care Program Available"
Okay. My mom has Alzheimer's, so no place will be perfect, but she's getting good care. It's super clean, and the staff is really friendly. The cost is pretty high, but that's the case everywhere. This facility is one of the more reasonable options. They offer a Tides program, which is a mid-level memory care program. My mom spends some time there, but mostly she's in the memory care.

"Nice Place, Nice People"
My mom liked this place, but when she visited another, it was just right for her. Nothing against Maplewood, which is beautiful, and the people were really nice.

"Great Location and Newly Remodeled Facility"
NICE! Great location, nice country setting. It's as nice as Brandywine but newer or recently remodeled. The facility is 10 years old and was remodeled 2 years ago. They are willing to negotiate on price.
