Maplewood at Stony Hill

"Caring Environment for Memory Impaired Residents"
Maplewood understands dementia well. They're easy to work with and open to improvements. Everyone is friendly and helpful, especially in getting my Dad engaged and out of his bed, where he spent most of the last 10 years. Now, he's hardly ever in his room or bed when I visit! They handle dementia well, even as it progresses severely in my Dad. Recently, he moved into hospice care after a fall and finding a mass in his throat/neck area. Despite this, Maplewood assured me they can continue caring for him and work well with Hospice. I'm confident I made the right choice. They also keep families informed promptly, a big change from my Dad's previous experiences in other facilities.

"Great Staff and Fun Activities at Assisted Living Facility"
The staff here is really great, including the nurses and everyone else. They have fun things like Trivial Pursuit, family parties, and they encourage reading. Service dogs are welcome, and there's even a petting zoo!

"Negligence and Poor Care at Maplewood Stony Hill"
My mom passed away after being found unresponsive at Maplewood Stony Hill! Don't go there! Look up all the complaints with Connecticut's Public Health Department. They've messed up big time and aren't following safety rules. They don't communicate well. See for yourself! My mom was left in her memory care room, covered in vomit and mucous for hours because no one checked on her! They're more concerned about money than caring for your family. To make things even worse, they gave my mom her medications three whole days after she died! And as for things to do, all my mom had was a kid's coloring book! Don't just walk away... run! Your loved one deserves kindness, respect, and good care, which you won't find here!

"Brace for inadequate care in lovely setting"
Pretty place but doesn't treat old folks right. If people are stuck in wheelchairs, they can get really bad bed sores. There's barely any nursing staff and the care they give isn't good. Someone could get a serious infection from a bed sore that could have been stopped. Don't hope for the nurses to stop bad things before they happen. They could've stopped a lot, but they didn't.

"Nice, Clean Facility But Too Far for Frequent Visits"
I visited this place and it was really nice and clean. The tour was great, almost like a hotel resort. It was too far for my sister and me to visit regularly, but they gave us a pastry at the end.

"Beautiful Place, Confusing Layout"
This is a beautiful community. We loved it here. The staff was very nice and knew a lot. The only problem was that the building was confusing. They keep changing where the activity room is.

"Maplewood Assisted Living: Great Care, Spacious Community, Delicious Food"
This place is nice. The people who work here are really nice and they answered my questions. It's bigger than what I wanted for my mom, but they have good food. We got to try some and it was really good. The place is super clean. I think people should visit Maplewood if they need care for someone they love.

"Great place for my wife!"
My wife has adjusted really well to the community. She’s joining in on all the activities they offer. I’m very happy with the staff and how they communicate. Both my wife and I love the variety of food available. Every time I visit Maplewood, it’s clean and there’s never a bad smell.

"Lovely Assisted Living with Room for More Activities"
Maplewood is such a pretty place where everyone cares. When we first visited, we liked how they showed us around all the rooms, kitchen, and dining area. Our loved one has been there for three weeks now. I just wish there were more activities outside the place. Maybe since it's still new, they'll add more activities soon.
