"Friendly Staff and Welcoming Atmosphere at Assisted Living Facility"
It's an older group of people living here. Sometimes it feels more like a place for rehabilitation or nursing. They have been getting new people to live here. The folks are really nice. The workers are very helpful and ready to help with anything you need.

"Mixed Feelings About Assisted Living Setup"
I thought the setup wasn’t quite right for my loved one. They did have aides for overnight care and a nurse on call.

"Caring Community with Engaging Activities"
My loved one has a cozy studio that meets her needs. The one-bedroom apartment is spacious, and River Ridge’s staff excels at communication. Happy Hour at the Bistro is a delightful social event, and the variety of activities, including magicians and comedians, keeps residents engaged. Despite the pandemic, they’ve been creative in maintaining a caring and clean environment.

"Clean and Shared Rooms"
The facility is nice and really clean. The rooms are shared suites, which wouldn't be suitable for my Mom, but might be great for others.

"Amazing Care and Community"
I had a great experience at A Place for Mom. I was looking online for options for my mom late on a Friday night, and she called me right away. We talked for almost an hour. The next morning, a gentleman from the facility called me, and by Thursday, we were having lunch there. Everyone in the community is wonderful. It feels like everyone reaches out to you, and they all feel like family. The wait staff is kind and nice. They have a doctor there who is now my parents’ doctor. They check on my father many times a day. Before, he was in bed for 1 ½ months and not doing much. He was on medication four times a day, but we switched to three times a day, and everything changed. Now he talks to the wait staff and engages in conversation. Everyone is amazed at the difference in my dad. My mom says it feels like they’re on their honeymoon. She used to travel to Europe and eat out often. Here, she and my dad go to the dining area, and the waiter, who is from Italy, knows the places she talks about and sings with them during meals. It’s a wonderful place with dignity, like an apartment. I even stayed overnight there. They have activities all the time, like a media room for watching movies. The facility is safe and secure. The people are lovely, the transition has been smooth, and I can’t say enough good things. I can leave and not worry about my parents because I know they are well cared for.

"Mom loves this place and the great care!"
This community has been wonderful for my mom. The staff keeps me updated on how she is doing. The place is clean and has a nice atmosphere. The menu is excellent, and my mom enjoys the variety of meals. They offer activities for her to join with other residents. I would gladly recommend this community to other families for its great care and value.

"Fantastic Staff!!"
My parents have been here for about five weeks, and everything has been wonderful for them so far. I couldn't have chosen a better fit. The staff is fantastic, providing them with nothing but the best care. They've improved a lot in everyday life skills. Plus, they get three healthy meals a day and spend time outside doing different activities. We're very happy customers and thrilled with the results we're seeing. A big thank you to this place!

"Friendly Staff, Well-Kept Place, Not Our Pick"
My visit to this place was pretty good. Everything looked nice and tidy. The people who worked there were really nice and made us feel welcome. It was a good time, and they treated my family and me nicely. This place is nice, but it's not what we're looking for.

"Nice Facility but Not Right for My Dad"
I visited this place for my dad. The tour went well. Everyone was kind and friendly. The staff I met was helpful and answered my questions. From what I saw, the community looked well-kept, nice, and clean. It was a nice tour, but not the right place for my dad.

"Mixed Experiences at River Ridge Nursing Facility"
All in all, I'd suggest considering River Ridge at Avon for your loved ones. My mother-in-law had an issue here with her pain medication – they changed her prescription and it caused a bad reaction. This led to her needing hospital care. It seems like the medical team either didn't know about the possible mix-up or overlooked it, which was pretty shocking to us. Aside from that hiccup, though, the rest of the team is amazing. It's a really welcoming environment. The meals are top-notch. They have lots of activities too, but my mother-in-law hasn't joined any as of now.

"Nice Place but Didn't Meet Our Specific Needs"
River Ridge at Avon is a good looking place with caring workers, but sadly, we didn't have a good experience. It felt like they told us everything we wanted to hear when we were checking the place out. But, my loved one was only there for 4 days in the memory unit before we had to look for a new place. I can tell it's a pretty place and I bet they do a good job in helping their residents. But, make sure they can really take care of your loved one's specific needs.

"Happy and Safe at River Ridge"
I’ve lived at River Ridge in Avon for 2 ½ years. Before choosing it, we toured three other assisted living places in the Avon area with our son who lives nearby. River Ridge was the best for these reasons: The building is beautiful. It was recently redecorated and feels like a five-star hotel when you walk in. The administrative staff is outstanding—professional, friendly, courteous, and helpful. They made us feel welcome, which made the change of leaving our home easier. The nursing care is excellent. They are always kind and helpful to residents. There are lots of activities, which keep us active, both physically and mentally. The facility is very clean—cleanliness is a top priority. The entertainment is diverse and well planned. It includes movies, concerts, and musicians. The food is excellent. The chefs are great, and the servers are professional, friendly, and accommodating. One of the highlights is the help with doctor visits. The staff works hard to help residents with their schedules. Tuesdays are set aside for shopping trips to local stores. Choosing River Ridge was the best decision we made to find a safe and happy home.

"Nice place overall, expensive"
My experience with River Ridge at Avon has been a bit bumpy, but I think that's mostly because of some unusual situations in our case. Overall, I believe they do a good job here. The facility itself is well-maintained and clean, and the staff are friendly and professional. They've been very helpful with any specific care requests we've had. However, as your loved one's care needs increase, the price can go up quickly.

"Satisfactory Assisted Living Facility, But Room For Improvement"
This assisted living set up has a lovely spot in the suburbs, but it's a tad more expensive than other places for what's on offer. I chose here mainly because it's conveniently close to our friends and family, so my loved one can have regular visitors. All the public spaces are wonderfully clean. Unfortunately, they sometimes skip housekeeping and laundry on the agreed upon days, without letting the residents know – not great. I've also had to ask for a simple repair more than once, which is a bit frustrating. The residents tend to stick to their own groups, making it hard for newcomers to fit in. There's not a lot going on activities-wise. The schedule might seem busy at first, but it counts normal meals and seatings for them as 'events'. I'd say it's alright, not the worst, not the best. You could find something better but also something worse.

"Wonderful staff and great care!"
They’ve been amazing so far! The staff is friendly, professional, and super helpful. They made our search and move-in much easier during a tough time. They always respond well to care needs and keep in touch with families. The place is clean and tidy, and the activities are great. The only thing I’d suggest is having more evening activities and showing more modern movies.

"Compassionate Care and Good Support at River Ridge"
My dad lived at River Ridge for a year and really liked it. A week after he moved in, he fell and broke his wrist. Even though it was 9:30 PM on a Sunday, the nurse on duty called me right away to tell me my dad was going to the hospital. River Ridge took good care of him, so he didn’t need to go to rehab. The doctor at River Ridge made sure he got the right care. My dad could be a bit difficult sometimes, but during a tough time, the caregivers and even the administrators handled the situation with kindness and professionalism. The kitchen staff and certified nursing assistants were all very caring. Even the maintenance staff did a great job. We moved my dad to another facility in a different state because it was cheaper by over $1,200 a month and offered a different level of care. Now my older brother takes care of him. My only issue with River Ridge was that there weren’t enough activities outside the facility. My dad, who is quite active for his age, sometimes felt bored. His poor vision also played a part in this. More activities would have been a big plus. Overall, I would recommend River Ridge to anyone looking for assisted living. Good luck with your search!

"Assisted Living Facility Somewhat Far and Lacks Space"
The place is good for assisted living, including dementia patients. It could be too far from West Hartford though. You need to reach Westminster, doctors, and hair salon. The facility doesn't have much space.

"Cozy, caring community with great amenities and attentive staff."
This place feels cozy and caring. They have an ice cream café and a cocktail room. The lobby feels like a living room with a fireplace. They offer low-key activities, and the rooms have views of the courtyard or outside. The apartments are small with brownish stained carpets and open to a kitchenette. There’s a large storage closet, and they can care for residents until the end of their lives. A doctor visits once a week in the residents' apartments, and a podiatrist comes once a month.

"Very nice, friendly place with lots of activities"
This place is very nice, with lots of activities and friendly people. It’s also clean, and everyone is very compassionate. The rooms are a good size. There’s a Health Center with a pool nearby, or you can go to the YMCA in Granby, which is about 10 miles away. Right now, this is our top choice.
