"Aesthetics good, staff overly friendly at terrible assisted living facility"
Absolutely terrible place - the aesthetics may be pleasing and the outdoor space enjoyable, and hell, there's even a nice group of people working there with a strong sense of camaraderie between the staff and inhabitants. It's true anyone would notice this immediately upon entry. Over-friendly staff, excessively concerned about you too.

"Helpful and Caring Staff at Beautiful Sunrise at Stamford"
My kin and I have been looking to relocate my sister-in-law into an assisted living facility. Like many, she has reservations about making such a key change in her life. Nevertheless, the crew at Sunrise at Stamford were always there for us, being empathetic and supportive throughout. They spared no effort in appeasing all of my sister-in-law's doubts through numerous meetings. The residence is strikingly beautiful, the staff is gracious and approachable, and the outside scenery is visually attractive.

"Impressed by Assisted Living Facility During Initial Scouting Visit"
My family and I are scouting places for our dear Mother. She's not quite prepared for assisted living yet, but we're just testing the waters. We recently visited a facility and were pleased with the staff. They were warm and kind. The folks living there seemed quite content and appeared to be receiving good care. Though quaint and not up-to-date, the property itself was neat and well-maintained.

""Severe Neglect and Unprofessionalism in Assisted Living Facility""
During times when Covid was at its peak, the residents living in the Memory Care section, located on the third floor, were stuck in their rooms for weeks on end. They were totally cut off from everyone else. The dining room was closed off, meaning residents had to eat by themselves in their rooms. The only activities available for them were coloring pages and watching TV, even though most of them can't really color. This isolation dragged on for weeks, resulting in further mental and physical deterioration. Visitors weren't allowed or had strict time restrictions, allowed only in the first-floor library. This led to many residents becoming sad, increasing their intake of mental health medications. The staff here are not helpful, often acting on the defensive, making it seem as though organizing simple contact, like through FaceTime, is a huge hardship for them. On multiple occasions, they forgot about pre-scheduled FaceTime appointments and ignored incoming phone calls. In 2022, there has been a lot of staff changes; this includes those in director positions, the head nurse for memory care, and those in billing. The staff constantly seem annoyed and inconvenienced by visitors, even when it's about simple things like letting people in or out of the building, or the memory care floor. The furnishings are covered in dust, worn out, and produce an unpleasant smell. The dining room is also very noisy. Residents are often left unattended, resulting in falls.

""Failure to Properly Assess and Care Causes Tragedy""
This facility wasn't right for our family member's health condition. Without the right checks, she became a resident there and sadly passed away. We didn't know she required extra tending for her bed sores, and this place failed to rightly observe that she needed more care than what was given.

"Staff shortage and cleanliness issues overshadow caring environment."
The overall impression of this nursing home is that it's a bit short staffed, which is an issue many places are facing these days. The nurses are quite kind and warm with the residents, but it seems like they could use more help. We sometimes have to remind them to ensure our family member bathes regularly, which can be bothersome. I must clarify though, the staff are wonderful. They are really sympathetic and caring. One aspect that could use improvement is the number of activities for residents. I'd like to see more happening on that front. They do have singing and dancing, which is a great source of pleasure for the people living here. Occasionally, I've noticed trivia games and familiar occupation like nail care taking place. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of this facility isn't up to the mark. The carpets have noticeable stains and appear well used. We've found ourselves mentioning certain areas or things that need cleaning. Dust accumulation is quite visible, which is difficult to accept when I compare it with another facility where another family member lives, which is always immaculately clean.

"Awful Experience at Previous Home, Much Better Now"
Our dad got moved into this home by our youngest brother and it was a terrible time for our dad and our whole family. When we visited, the staff told us we couldn't see or talk to our dad. The couple of times I got to talk to him, he was scared and upset. Now he's in a new home with nice, honest staff and he's calm and happy.

"Neglected Dad at Sunrise Facility Finds Joy at New Home"
My dad stayed in the memory care area of this place for seven months, during which his glasses were lost or taken, and no one told us. Since we live far away, he couldn't see for over two months. Also, four healthy teeth in his right upper jaw were gone that weren't when he left our home just months ago. We couldn't figure out what had happened. My dad also became more upset emotionally. One time, we went to visit him on a Saturday, and they couldn't find him. Every time we talked...and they made talking to us hard...he was scared and agitated. Dad was recently moved to another place. He's happy and relaxed...such a breath of fresh air! We can easily talk to him now, and check with staff about his physical and emotional health. Sunrise looks nice on the outside...and that's the best way to describe it.

"Inadequate Communication and Unfair Visitation Policies at Assisted Living"
If you want a place that nurtures family bonds and provides care with compassion, steer clear of Sunrise of Stamford. I reached out to them two weeks before my mom's passing because I had a feeling she was near the end but I live far away and couldn't drop by to see her. Instead of a phone call back, I got an email. They refused to tell me anything about her situation because I wasn't listed as the "responsible party," although I'm her only son. Worse still, last year they stopped me visiting her because her health care proxy asked them to. This is the truth. It's up to you to decide if you're okay with it.

"Pleasant Facility, But Not the Right Fit For Us"
The facility tour was decent and the community seemed pleasant. They addressed all of my inquiries and extended a lot of support. I noticed some residents engaged in activities during the visit. However, we simply didn't feel it was the right match for us.

"Solid Assisted Living Experience; Brother-In-Law Gets Care He Needs"
My brother in law really loves it here. Everything’s going great for him, and I'm really happy with all that's been done for us. Moving here was major for him, but I know he's safe and well-taken care of here. The place looks awesome, everything's clean and neat. All the staff members have been super helpful. They have stuff for him to do and he says the food's alright. I'm certain he's getting good care here, as they're always making sure he's OK. It's been a really great experience, and I'd say you should check this place out.

"An amazing place where Mom thrives and feels safe. Highly recommended!"
This place is awesome and my mom's doing really well here. I was shocked to see how easily she fit in. The place looks pretty good, too. There was one small problem with the cleaning, but they sorted it out right away. The people who work here are great and they genuinely listen to what you have to say. We're really happy with everyone here. It feels like home and the people are really nice. My mom seems happy and safe, which gives me peace of mind. They're looking after her really well, and I'd totally recommend this place.

"Sunrise Assisted Living: Friendly Staff and Day-To-Day Assistance"
The Sunrise staff are approachable and helpful, always ready to assist. The place has a cozy, small country inn-like atmosphere. The apartments differ in size, with even the biggest ones not being too large. It seems like this design encourages residents to come out of their rooms and socialize. They offer various daily activities. The dining area provides three decent meals with multiple options each day. Despite these perks, the Sunrise team understands that not everyone is ready to move in. They offer 'respite' months for people to test the waters. Residents range from independent folks who can drive to those needing varying degrees of assistance (four care levels available). There's also a special section for memory care. The cost isn't low but is significantly cheaper than maintaining a private home and hiring round-the-clock help. Residents on a 'care' level receive a pendant. When pressed, an aid arrives within minutes and then leaves, much to the delight of my sister.

"Smooth Transition into Assisted Living; Mom Pleased by Quality Care"
My Mother is doing okay at Sunrise of Stamford. She appears to be happy there. They handled her arrival and admittance well. Everybody was kind and had everything in order. She enjoys the meals they serve. The help she's receiving is satisfactory. Her interactions and social engagements are going well. This is probably the best-case scenario one could hope for high-quality care. All has been smooth sailing so far.
