"Assisted Living Falls Short in Staff and Food Quality"

This place cares more about money than people. They don't have enough staff in the dining room, so my loved one often goes hungry. The food isn't great, and they won't hire a better chef. We chose it because it looked nice and sounded good, but some of the staff are mean.

"Negligent Assisted Living Facility: Aunt's Health in Danger"

I don't get why people are praising this place. It's a horrible place because they don't follow the care plan or inform the family about any issues. My aunt's legs swelled up to twice their usual size because they didn't raise her legs! This could cause her to have a stroke and experience a lot of pain. They're making an excuse that my aunt refuses to raise her legs which is just untrue. Even if it was, she has a recliner, why not put her in it and lift her legs? She wouldn't be able to leave the chair by herself, so there's no issue. At least she wouldn't be at risk of dying from a blood clot!!!

"Nice Facility, Not Ready for Move-In"

The Saybrook was really nice, all on one level, and looked beautiful. We almost moved in there. They came to our house to check things out, but they said he wasn't quite ready to move in yet. I'm not sure why exactly, but maybe it had to do with the pandemic. We needed a place right away, so we chose somewhere else instead.

"Exceptional care and comfort for my mother, with great amenities"

My 103-year-old mother has been living here since spring with a summer break in Nantucket. We’ve been really impressed with the personalized service from all the staff, especially the professional care from the nurses. When my mother had to recover from a fall, the staff worked closely with my family to ensure she received the right care to get back to doing as much as she could in a safe way. The place feels more like a Marriott than an assisted living facility. The food is unexpectedly good, and they even serve wine at dinner. There are smaller private dining rooms for family gatherings, which we’ve used more than once. I can’t imagine my mother being anywhere else. I sleep well at night knowing she is safe and just five minutes away. The pool table is a great bonus too.

"Wonderful care and comfort for my 103-year-old mother here"

My 103-year-old mom has been living here since spring 2019, with a summer break in Nantucket. We are really impressed by how the staff gives personal attention and how professional the nurses are. When my mom had a fall and needed to recover, the staff worked closely with us to make sure she got the right care and could get back to doing as much as possible in a safe way. The place feels more like a Marriott hotel than an assisted living facility. The food is surprisingly good, and they even offer wine at dinner. There are smaller private dining rooms for family gatherings, which we’ve used a few times. I can’t picture my mom being anywhere else. I sleep well at night knowing she is safe and just five minutes away. Plus, the pool table is a nice touch!

"Lovely Assisted Living Facility with Comprehensive Care Options"

The assisted living facility was really friendly and looked so pretty with holiday decorations. The way it's set up is nice, too. They offer three levels of care, which is exactly what I need.

"Disappointing Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

We got a call saying mom was found on the floor with a head injury. We tried calling the facility many times, but no one picked up. This isn't the first time, and it's making us really unhappy. It seems like there's only one person working at night for the whole place, including both assisted living and memory care, because staff keep leaving. There's a nurse available by phone at night, but not in person. We're starting to think this was a bad choice. The place looks nice, but there aren't enough caregivers for the residents.

"Very Happy with This Community"

My dad is doing great since moving here. It was a good choice for him and his needs. I feel comfortable with him being at this facility. It’s beautiful, and they keep it very clean. The staff and administration are very helpful. He likes the meals they serve. They have two awesome activities directors who plan fun activities for the residents. We are happy with everything they’ve done for our family, and I would definitely recommend this place.

"Shortchanged Seniors: High Price, Low Service"

Folks shell out big bucks to stay here, but shockingly, each resident only gets $6.75 a day for their meals. For such an expensive place, the care isn't up to scratch. These people have earned much more.

"Very Impressed with Tour"

We were really impressed with our tour. The people living there seemed happy and relaxed. The staff, especially Dave Downey, were kind and knew a lot. The building smelled nice and the food, served with wine, also smelled great. The cost, though high, was about the same as mom’s place in New York.

"Great facility with beautiful building and good activities."

Overall, it's a really nice place. The care seems okay, but I don’t visit often enough to be sure. She gets her medication every day, but I’m unsure how often the nursing staff or doctor sees her. My sister's answers about her care aren't very clear since she's private and selective. She had been at a place in New York before, so she knows what a good facility is like. I think this one is better physically. The building is beautiful and well-maintained. The activities are similar to those in New York, though she’s quite critical. I might never get her to say it’s "wonderful," but it’s a great value in this area.

"Not second guessing my choice"

Overall, I like this place. The care seems okay, but I'm not there much. My sister gets her medication regularly, but I'm not sure how often she sees the nurses or doctor. She's private and selective in her answers. Having been in a New York facility before, she thinks this one is better physically. The building is beautiful and well-maintained, and the activities are similar to what she had in New York. She's critical, though—I doubt I'll ever hear her say 'this is wonderful.' But for me, it's a great value.

"Small, Clean, Personalized Care with Room for Improvement"

This place is really nice. It’s super clean and doesn’t smell bad at all. I like that it’s not too big, so they can give my mom more attention. She gets the help she needs, and everyone seems happy. They’re fixing up the outside area to make it nicer. The food is okay, but my mom doesn’t like all of it. I wish they had more choices for meals. The staff is really friendly. The only bad thing is they don’t have many activities for people with poor eyesight.
