"Great activities, fixed care issue"

My loved one really enjoys interacting with other people. She joins in social activities and was lonely before. She really enjoys bingo and exercise classes. Overall, it has been a positive experience. There was an issue with care services; she was supposed to get two showers a week but was only getting one. That issue has been fixed. Overall, I am very happy.

"Lack of Communication and Poor Design in Assisted Living Facility"

The care staff at the assisted living facility did an excellent job taking care of my family member. The cost was fair, and they made tough decisions to protect residents during the COVID-19 outbreak, even shutting the facility down for a while. However, the plan for visits was inconvenient and poorly managed. Visits were only outside and often got cancelled due to bad weather. I asked for alternatives, but never got one. Each resident could only have one visitor per week. Moreover, the administration's communication to the staff wasn't satisfactory. The staff often ended up enforcing outdated rules because they weren’t aware of the new ones which caused issues between them and the families. When the time came to move my loved one out, they initially refused to let me come in to pack their belongings, suggesting movers were the only ones allowed in. I ended up going in to pack myself. The facility seemed old and not up to par. The tiny fridge in the rooms was placed on the floor, causing safety issues for residents when reaching for items. The showers had wooden benches instead of chairs. I had to bring my own chair so my loved one could shower safely.

"Needs Improvement in Memory Care Staffing"

The staff first misplaced her eyeglasses, then her dentures went missing. It was more than a month before they figured out how to put her hearing aids in correctly. Her blanket vanished, along with all her fresh towels. They look like they’re doing their best and they seem kind-hearted, but there just aren’t enough people working here to give the right kind of help to the folks with memory issues. The people in charge should spend a few days doing what the staff does instead of just popping in for visits.

"Memory Care Bus Ride"

Pretty good, but the memory care was in a different building and required a bus ride. Not exactly what we needed.

"Lincoln Meadows"

My mom moved to Lincoln Meadows a month and a half ago. The staff have been great, helping to make the transition easy. She loves her new apartment and has already made several nice friends. She often says she wishes she had moved sooner.

"Great Setup and Caring Staff for Dad's Memory Care"

We found the setup to be great for Dad. We were in the Harbor, which is the memory care facility. The building's design was good because Dad needed to walk around independently without feeling like an "inmate." Since the whole building was for memory care, he had more freedom. We also found the staff to be caring and supportive. It felt like a positive child care arrangement where there was genuine affection for the residents. The elderly need to feel loved and appreciated, and the East Farms staff seemed loving and nurturing. We also found the geriatrician to be better than others we'd dealt with.

"Wonderful care and support!"

I have nothing but high praise for them. My mom lives there, and I thought she was too far gone for assisted living. We were happy with them from the start, and we signed her up that very day! She didn't know she was going, but they guided us through the process. When I visit, she often says she doesn’t know why she’s there because she feels fine, but she doesn’t realize she has dementia. The care is excellent. Mom looks better than ever! At home, she just wanted to sleep all the time. Now, she’s walking and eating better, and they really take care of her. I know they encourage her to join in activities. They have bus trips once or twice a week. She used to go every week, but with the colder weather, I’m not sure if she’s still going. She has made some friends. The only downside is the cost. It is expensive, and I wish they accepted Title 19, but I know they don’t. That’s the only drawback; it’s pricey. I love all the staff. I even bring my dog to visit, and everyone is so nice! Even the other residents enjoy petting the dog. I wish there was something to help with the costs, but everything else has been wonderful. I really like the director, and they have an Alzheimer’s support group every month.

"Busy, Active Community"

East Farms was really nice. It almost won us over. I liked their memory care unit—it was quite spacious. However, we weren't happy with how they handled billing. The different tiers of care could have made the bill outrageous. Unlike an all-in-one program, they have separate levels. The staff, though, is super friendly. The place is bustling and lively. Overall, it was a strong contender, just like the one we eventually chose.

"Overwhelmingly Large Assisted Living Complex, Great for Some"

It's a really big place. The lady I talked to was helpful and kept me updated until I found somewhere. When I visited, I felt like it was too big for my liking. It might be good if you need a big place. My dad needs assisted living, but this place seemed too overwhelming for him. It's tough to imagine putting someone who needs help in such a huge place. Also, the location in Southington was more convenient for our family.

"Friendly director, thorough tour, and an impressive facility."

The director was really friendly and gave a detailed tour. They think of everything here! We would be lucky to live in a place like this. I enjoyed the visit and was very impressed.
