"Dirty Kitchen and Tasteless Food at Grand Oaks"
I once saw the kitchen after hours, crawling with cockroaches on every surface along with old, sticky dirt all over the kitchen appliances. This place is a flooded, disease-ridden area of still water that has sickened residents who have eaten here. The is just a whimpering child with power issues and can't even cook well. The servers are mindless automatons. All I've had here at the illustrious "kitchen" of Grand Oaks is tasteless, dirty food.

"Good experience, but high costs due to extra care needed."
We are happy with our time at Grand Oaks. The community requires us to pay for extra help all day, which makes the costs higher than we hoped. However, the staff is good at answering our questions and concerns.

" "Grand Oaks: Mismanagement and Neglect Behind a Pretty Picture""
I've spent five years at Grand Oaks with some truly amazing fellow residents. But, their kindness doesn't make up for the way the place is managed. The people in charge aren't fair, they lie, break laws, are biased, and seem to only care about making money, even if it harms us residents. The way they avoid spending money to boost their profit is well-known, even though they claim they're a "not-for-profit" assisted living residence. For the full scoop, look up the Department of Health Licensure Surveys for Grand Oaks. You'll find unsettling truths about medication mistakes, cockroaches, and other nasties. Visiting Grand Oaks will show you that not everything that looks good on the surface is actually good underneath.

"Nice Looking Facility, Staff Care More About Money Than Service"
This place really does look great, it's a pretty building set in a nice neighborhood. However, it seems like this facility is all about the money. Prices kick off at $10,000 a month, but they'll lower that if you have some connections. The people who work here don't really care. Once they get you to sign a contract, they'll ignore you. When your family shows up, they'll act like they've been wonderful to you. It feels like they're not honest, they aren't there when you need them, and they'll try to trick you. On a better note, they do serve delicious food and the living spaces are quite nice.

"Neglect at Assisted Living Facility Leads to Fall"
We discovered our family member lying on the floor by herself, potentially for quite some time, after tumbling down. Imagine what could have happened if we weren't close by to look in on her?

"Top Choice for Retirement Living"
This community stood out during our tours. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the open floor plan impressed me. I recommend it for retirement.

"Excellent Care and Support at Grand Oaks Highly Recommended"
I’m happy to share my positive experience at Grand Oaks. Even though my stay was short, just two months between surgeries, I’ve seen enough to know this place is top-notch. They really helped me through tough times, including when I needed to be re-hospitalized a few times. I’m amazed that everyone on the staff knew who I was from the first day. The place is clean and nice, the nursing and support staff are very skilled, and the dining room staff is always cheerful. I’m not sure if I’ll be back for a longer stay, but I’d definitely consider it. Thanks, Grand Oaks, for your great work!

"Grand Oaks Subpar Assistive Living with Overpriced Fees"
The Grand Oaks Assisted Living Center seems like a business opportunity for the big-shots at Johns Hopkins Sibley Hospital Foundation. It's clear that the leadership doesn't care about creating a cozy, inviting, and caring environment for the residents or their families. Instead, they're more focused on charging super high prices (talking about $12,000 per month!) and providing the bare minimum services for the majority of their residents. Meanwhile, their so-called "development" efforts are geared towards residents who can make big donations to the hospital. If they truly cared about their residents, they would pay their workers better instead of using profits to build a new hospital, take care of their facilities at Grand Oaks (every visit there's something broken or needs fixing), and uphold a strong sense of honesty and integrity. Unless you're able to make a large donation to grab their attention, our family wouldn't suggest Grand Oaks.

"Great care and improvement at Grand Oaks' Oasis unit"
My husband was in the Oasis unit at Grand Oaks for 60 days. He got great care and therapy from the Legacy group, which works at Grand Oaks. The staff showed real care, respect, kindness, professionalism, and skill. He improved a lot, and the cognitive and physical health he gained would have been impossible at home.

"Grand Oaks: Caring and Extra Assistance!"
Our dad really likes Grand Oaks. The staff is friendly and pays attention to everyone. They keep good records, chat with residents, and make the place interesting. Plus, they get extra help from Sibley Hospital and John Hopkins Hospital.

"High Prices, Low Quality Spur Constant Change in Staff and Vacancies"
This place's management and staff have been changing constantly. There have been 3 executives, 2 nursing directors in the last 2 years. For 9 months straight, there was no activities director, and the dining head was also gone for a long time. Their pricing is way too much for the kind of service they give (more than $10,000 a month). They just announced that the prices are going up again next month. They can't fill all their spaces because it's too expensive and the quality is poor. We'll be leaving soon.

"Warm, caring staff; feels like home. Best facility we've tried."
My mother stays at Grand Oaks when she visits Washington from New York for a few months at a time. We are very happy with the facility and, more importantly, with the warm and caring staff and management. Grand Oaks feels like home and avoids the 'institutional' vibe common in many senior living places. We’ve experienced several such facilities, and Grand Oaks is the best!
