"Good Virtual Tour but Chose Different Community"
Our family had a good experience with the virtual tour. The team gave us great information. We had to choose between this community and another one, but our loved one liked the rooms at the other place more.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
I needed a place where my service dog and two emotional support dogs would be welcome. When I signed a two-month lease, I made it clear that I had three dogs, and I was assured it wouldn’t be a problem. However, in the dining area, they didn’t want my service dog there, and I had to remind them of the law. There were no socialization activities, and maintenance never helped with my carpet. After a fall, I spent days in the hospital and witnessed staff belittling residents. Despite waiting for two months, I still haven’t received a COVID test or injection. They even told me I had to get rid of my dogs, which contradicted what I was initially told. The meal delivery staff spills drinks on the tray, but the mail delivery staff is friendly. Unfortunately, I can’t participate in any activities. I came here to keep my three dogs because I love the location.

"Not Worth It: Disappointing Experience at Forwood Assisted Living"
Don't recommend this place. Disappointed with what Dad gets. Dad's been here 3 months after Mom died. He's lonely, so we hoped he'd make friends here. But with COVID, they don't help seniors stay active or provide safe activities. Front entrance still messed up after a month. No effort to fix it or the meeting area for guests who can't even visit. Dad wants to move, and we're searching. You pay a $4000 fee, but it's worthless. Don't send your loved ones here. It's all a trick to take your money.

"Great community efforts during tough times"
We picked this place because of the activities and food, but both were affected by the virus. The room sizes are good, and my mom has two nice walk-in closets. She ate here once before the lockdown, and they served restaurant-style meals. Now, because of COVID, they bring the food to her room. My favorite thing is how they really try to make a community. They had an antique car parade and even did Christmas in July carols in the hallways. They're putting in effort during these tough times. I would recommend Forwood Manor.

"Forwood Manor Staff and Care Provide Great Peace of Mind"
My mom has been at Forwood Manor for over 5 years, first in Independent Living and now in Assisted Living. The best part about Forwood is the amazing staff. My mom loves them, and so do I. I like to call them her Forwood Angels! When I used to visit, I enjoyed meeting the nurses and managers. They are very caring people, and getting to know them made me confident that my mom was in good hands. Mom also LOVES the food. There are lots of choices, and if she's too tired to go to the dining room for breakfast, they bring it to her with a smile! During the Covid-19 pandemic, I stayed in close contact with the management, and they were very careful about keeping mom safe. I can't visit her right now, which is sad, but at least I know she’s safe and happy. Forwood has even set up Zoom calls so we can still see each other.Thank you, Forwood Manor, for giving me peace of mind!

"Good Potential but Needs Improvement"
We've been checking out places in Wilmington for our Mom. This place looks nice from outside, with porches for elderly folks. The person at the front desk was friendly, and there's a nice room near the lobby where the elderly enjoy entertainment. But there are a couple of issues. The hallways leading to common areas are long and dim, needing better lighting. The carpets are old and dark, making it even darker. The independent living area is lovely, but the assisted living needs upgrades to match. It feels neglected, like a forgotten step-sister, with rooms that seem more like converted nursing home spaces. Not great for the price. Not recommending it for Mom.

"Disappointed with Care, Family Moves Mother to Better Facility"
Not what was promised! I’m really unhappy. We moved my mom to a place where she’s doing much better now, which wasn’t the case at Forwood. At first, we thought it was nice, but it didn’t take long to see they really didn’t care about us. They just kept charging us for everything until we were broke or until someone in the family could get her out of that money trap. I’ve even had to make a complaint to the ombudsman about their skilled nursing care.

"Friendly Assisted Living Tour"
I visited with my sister. The place seemed nice. Staff was helpful and friendly. The guide was kind and answered all my questions. It wasn't the right fit for my sister, but the tour was pleasant.

"Great people, fixed safety issues quickly"
All the people at the facility are great. On move-in day, my dad's "independent living" apartment looked good, with fresh paint and maybe new carpet. However, there were a couple of safety concerns. One of the handrails in the shower/bathtub was very loose, and the bathroom doors would stick when closed, which almost caused my dad to fall. There were also some smaller issues the facility missed in their final check, but they took care of them right away. The food is great, and the landscaping is perfect for walking my dad's little dog.

"New Resident's Son Reviews Forwood Manor Move-In Experience"
Everyone at the facility is wonderful. When we moved my dad into his independent living apartment, it looked nice with fresh paint and maybe new carpet. But we found a couple of big safety issues. One handrail in the shower was very loose, and the bathroom doors stuck badly. My dad almost fell trying to open the linen closet. There were also small things the facility missed, but they fixed them right away. The food is delicious, and the landscaping is perfect for walking my dad's little dog.

"Disappointing Stay at Senior Home, Family Warns Others"
My mom went to live there after she had a stroke. On the day she was supposed to move in, the person at the front desk didn’t know she was coming or where her room key was. It took almost half an hour and a lot of phone calls for her to find it. We asked the same person when breakfast was on Sunday. She told us 10 a.m., but when my brothers and sisters came at 9:30 a.m. to eat with Mom, the dining hall was already closed. Breakfast was over at 9:30, not 10. Signs were posted saying all fun activities were off because people were getting sick. Not long after, my mom got sick too. She had to go to the hospital for three days. When she got better, she returned to the facility. Mom’s hand was weak, and she couldn’t unlock her door. She was scared to leave her room because she might not get back in. I asked the staff for help, and they added a special handle to her key that made it easier. But why wasn’t that handle there from the start? This place is for older folks, and they must have had this problem before. One day, Mom went for breakfast, and there was none. No staff were there. Two weeks in, Mom wanted out. She was unhappy and felt alone. We took her home and found a different solution. Now, the facility wants her to pay for two months plus a $3600 fee that we can’t get back. That’s $10,200 for just ten days. Be careful if you’re considering this place.

" Unexpected Surprises at Assisted Living Facility Unsettle Family "
My mother relocated to this facility following a stroke. On the day she was to move in, we were met with confusion. The front desk staff didn't seem to know that my mom was coming that day, and initially couldn't find her room key. It took far too long - about 20 minutes of phone calls - to even get her set up in her room. Next - dinner. We wanted to bring my mom breakfast the following day, which we were told ended at 10 am. But when we showed up at 9:30 am, the dining room was already closed. Frustrating. Maybe even worse than all this was the sickness. Signs warned us that group activities were cancelled due to illnesses among the residents. Within a week, my mother too was sick - a stomach bug that landed her in the hospital for three days. When she moved into her room, she could barely manipulate the lock on her door. You could see it frustrated her, and she was scared about being locked out. Only after a couple days of seeing her struggle did the staff suggest adding a grip to her key to make it easier. Really, this should’ve been taken into account from the start, as this is a place for the elderly who often struggle with simple tasks like unlocking doors. Oh, and once? My mom told me she went to breakfast and nobody was there. No workers had shown up. Ultimately, my mother decided she wanted to leave. She didn't feel at home and was generally unhappy. Now she’s back home with us, but these people insist that she still owes two months of rent, along with a $3,600 non-refundable move-in fee. That's $10,200 for just 10 days. So please, be careful.

"Cozy 2-Bedroom Suite with Dog-Friendly Entrance"
We liked the 2-bedroom suite, but a smaller kitchen would suffice—just enough space for a bigger table when company visits. The outside entrance is great for our little dog.

"Spacious suite with room for guests and pet-friendly entrance."
We liked the big suite with 2 bedrooms, but the kitchen was too big for us. We just needed a spot for a bigger table when friends visit. The place has a nice door outside that's perfect for our little dog.

"Looked like a nice place!"
We visited this community while exploring senior living options for a family member. It appeared very pleasant and received praise from all our relatives who saw it. Although it was high-end, it was also one of the pricier choices we encountered.

"Beautiful Dining and Activities Spaces Clean and Friendly Environment"
Forwood Manor was really nice. I was checking out places for my husband who needed some help, and I thought maybe his wife could help there. But she wanted him to stay home, so we chose somewhere else. Still, Forwood Manor was my favorite. The dining room was so pretty, and there was plenty of room. The activities room was huge too. And everything was super clean and the staff were nice.

"No Weekend Breakfast and Overpriced"
This place cost way more than the others we checked out, and they don't even offer breakfast on weekends. You gotta be kidding me! Even these folks need to eat on weekends. It cost a whole lot more than this other place we saw.
