"Mixed experience, needs improvements in communication and activities."
The move was tough, communication needs work. Food okay, more activities needed.

"Outdated Assisted Living Facility with Long Walks for Residents"
My sister and I checked out a few places in Wilmington for our mom. This one seemed the oldest of them all. We liked how it looked inside, though. The rooms looked old-fashioned, but if that’s your thing and you don’t mind the price, it might work for you. The tour was okay, and the nurses seemed nice. But, besides the old-fashioned vibe, there’s a lot of long hallways. Mom would have to walk a ton to get to places like the activities room, dining room, or nursing station.

"The facility needs improvement overall."
The place needs a big makeover. Whenever I visited my mom, something was always broken. The ceiling leaked, and they had a giant bucket collecting water for days. The staff was always on their phones or sitting around. If you want gossip, just sit in the room—the staff is louder than a soap opera. Rehab was quick, no complaints. Food was okay.” 😊

"'Don't Judge A Senior Home By Its Broken Ceiling'"
The place really needs some intense renovation work. Every-time I came to visit my mom, something was always not working right. There was even this time when the ceiling was dripping water, and they had a massive bucket collecting it for several days. It's often easy to find the staff on their phones or just sitting around, not doing much. One upside though, if you enjoy hearing all kinds of gossip and news about the building and the people, just hang out in the common room for a bit. The staff are usually really loud and they'll spill all the interesting inside stories. It's even better than watching a TV drama. The therapy program was actually good, my mom was in and out quickly, without any issues. The food was also okay.

"Room for Improvement in Assisted Living Facility"
I go there once a week. There's a storage closet on the right side of the hall. Inside, there's a CPR dummy sitting in a chair. It's startling. My mom's room is always dusty. There's garbage under tables. The floor needs vacuuming. The bathroom needs painting and some fixing up. But the activities, like happy hour and dining, are good.

"Great Activities, but Facility and Room Maintenance are Lacking"
I swing by about once each week. As I walk down the hallway, I've noticed a creepy-looking CPR dummy sitting in a chair inside a storage closet to the right. It seriously looks like a resident who's been stashed away or just passed out – it freaks me out every time I pass by. Mom's room isn't well-maintained either - dust is always floating around, trash is hidden under tables, and the carpet needs a good vacuuming. The bathroom could definitely use a fresh coat of paint or some kind of makeover. However, the activities there are really fun - they have happy hour and the food service is awesome.

"Needs Improvement: Rehab Stay at Shipley Manor"
We had a short stay at Shipley Manor when one of our family members needed rehab. To put it plainly, it didn't wow us. It felt like their care plans were all over the place, and they seemed more into making her a permanent member instead of helping her get better.

"Friendly Staff and Great Care for Mom"
The staff at this community are very friendly and courteous. They genuinely care about my mom's well-being and keep her active. The facility is small enough to feel friendly but large enough to offer variety. My mom says the food is good, and she likes having brunch menus available. The maintenance staff have been really helpful with various tasks.

"Institutional Feel, Unpleasant Atmosphere"
The assisted living place wasn't my favorite. It felt too much like a hospital and wasn't enjoyable.

Very Happy Daughter
"Absolutely amazing care and activities!"
They have been amazing for my mom, just amazing! I love visiting her there. Everyone is very friendly, and the care is excellent. She is independent, but when she fell, the staff helped her right away. They provided the care she needed so she didn't have to go anywhere else. There are plenty of activities like movies, bingo, blood pressure checks, outings, and mystery tours. She can join in as much or as little as she wants. I can't find anything wrong!

"Great medical care but missing daily support"
My mom lived here for almost 10 years, and they took care of all her medical needs. I thought it was a good experience overall. My siblings didn’t like it much, but I think that was because you have to walk through the health center, and it can be a reminder of what’s ahead, which isn’t easy to see. But for me, it felt like a good place. I’m not sure if my mom really needed a change or not, but I went along with it, and maybe I shouldn’t have. They brought in a psychiatrist and managed all the medical stuff, but we also needed help with daily tasks like getting dressed, even though I appreciated the nurses checking on her every day.

"Fantastic Tour and Welcoming Community"
The owners gave an amazing tour and invited us for lunch. The residents were super friendly and it felt like a family. This is our top choice. The music activities were really cool, and she loved that they have a choir.
