"Overpriced and outdated: Limited staff interaction, boring activities, and old facilities."
This place costs too much for what you get. They charge you for everything, it feels like even the air! The people who take care of those with memory problems don't really interact with them much. It seems like they're just there to watch over them. The buildings look nice from the outside, but inside, they're old-fashioned and out of date. The music, activities, and events are the same old stuff, and not very interesting.

"Comfortable Assisted Living with Family-like Atmosphere and Amenities"
This place stood out from others I visited because it's just the right size—not too big, not too small. It feels like a nice community where everyone, residents and staff alike, treats each other like family. Compared to other places I checked out, I feel confident I can age comfortably here. They have equipment to help out, and residents can even get hospice care if they need it. The care is generally good, although there have been a few small issues, which is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. The food is great, and the dining staff are wonderful. They have monthly meetings where residents can give feedback, and there's a good variety of room sizes and layouts. I was able to see the floorplan of my room and plan where my furniture would go. The pricing isn't as detailed as I'd like, but at least it's not as expensive as some places that charge for every little thing. It's convenient that they offer weekly laundry service and housekeeping, including linen laundry, once a week. Plus, they provide free Wi-Fi, although I opted to set up my own faster network through the cable company.

"Friendly Staff and Varied Activities at Pricier Assisted Living Facility"
The place is great but a bit pricey. The staff is very nice and helpful. Most residents are older, and they offer nice activities. The food is decent with varied options daily. Parking can be a hassle, but overall, it's a good place.

"Assisted Living Provides Comfort, Good Food, and Tech Support"
Living here is nice because I get to be with others and not feel lonely. The food is good, and they make some of my favorite dishes. I also got help with my computer, which was really good because I needed it.

"Caring leadership, but food and staff response need improvement"
Overall, our experience at Sunrise of Wilmington has been positive. The leadership team cares a lot about the residents and the quality of care. They take concerns seriously and look into them carefully. They are also willing to talk with the resident and family to decide the best care plan. One small area for improvement is the responsiveness of the care staff. Sometimes the wait times are a bit long. Mom has some cognitive issues and might not always know her options for dinner or activities. Some staff help her understand, which is great, but others don't as much. The food is another area that could improve. I've heard complaints from other residents and my mom. I've tried the food myself, and it's very bland. Sometimes it's too spicy but still tasteless, and the rice is often crunchy and hard. The ingredients seem fine, so it might be the way it's prepared. Overall, I would recommend this facility to family and friends.

"Challenges in Care for Disabled Residents"
Sunrise of Wilmington now accepts residents with more disabilities. This helps families needing extra care. But, they lack enough staff to handle this group. Wait times for help with daily tasks are long. Also, non-ambulatory residents can only get bed baths, affecting long-term skin care. The staff is friendly but struggles to keep up. It's a common issue in the industry, worsened by high care needs. Families should ask detailed care plan questions and monitor closely. I moved my loved one due to inadequate care.

"Misrepresented Services, Not Ideal for Skilled Nursing, Disappointed Experience"
We picked Sunrise thinking it'd be his final home. We thought they offered nursing care, but they don't. It seemed like they misled us when we signed up.

"High Praise with Price Concerns"
We liked everything about Sunrise of Wilmington. They assured us that if our loved one needs extra help, they'd have the same caregivers each time. But the cost was too much for us, especially since our loved ones needed level 3 care.

"Lovely Assisted Living with Excellent Staff Amid Covid Restrictions"
This place is really nice and well maintained. It was tough to check out all the cool stuff because of Covid. The staff is awesome. Whenever we called, they had answers and always called us back. They were super nice every time we talked to them. I would definitely tell others to check out Sunrise of Wilmington.

"Highly recommend Sunrise for excellent memory care and staff."
I looked into Sunrise for my parents a few years ago, and it was great then and still is now, especially with their improved memory care area. The Nurse, and Unit Manager were all very helpful when they came to check on my mom's condition to see if she could move in. The facility, staff, and resources are excellent. Sadly, because of my mom’s health, she can’t be accepted right now. But if she gets better, she would be a great fit for their memory care unit. I highly recommend Sunrise for those who qualify.

"Friendly Community, But Too Costly For Us"
My wife and I had a nice time touring this community. Everything went smoothly and everybody was really nice to us. From what we could tell, the community looked pretty good. It was clean and welcoming. The staff there was friendly and they helped us out. We had a good experience, but unfortunately, this community's cost was too much for our budget.

"A Wise Choice for Us"
Mom has joined in some of the daily activities. The staff pay attention, are always there, and respond quickly. The person we talked to before Mom moved in was honest and open. The food is tasty, and they offer lots of choices. The community is well taken care of, and I feel at ease with Mom living here. I'd recommend this professionally run community.

"Disappointed Tour: Not Quite Right for Us!"
On my visit to this assisted living place, I was let down. Checking out the memory care section made me sad because it didn't seem like the people lived actively. It was kind of gloomy. The place didn't appear too clean. The lady who showed us around was friendly but did not seem ready to answer all my queries.

"Review of Sunrise Assisted Living for Alzheimer's / Memory Care in Wilmington, DE"
I really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere at Sunrise and the dedicated area for people with dementia. It felt just like home. The only downside is that their Respite Care program is limited to 30 days. I might think about choosing Sunrise in the future, but not for Respite Care right now.

"Friendly Staff and Clean Facility; Weekend Dining Needs Improvement"
Sunrise Assisted Living in Wilmington is pretty good overall. The place looks nice and tidy, and the staff are super friendly. I'd rate them even higher if I could! They take really good care of the residents and offer lots of activities. The only thing I wish was better is that the dining staff aren't as friendly on weekends.

"Friendly and Helpful Assisted Living with Last-Minute Availability"
I found everyone at the assisted living facility to be very friendly and helpful, especially when we needed a last-minute respite stay. My only concern was the cleanliness of the bathroom, which took some convincing to get them to address. On the bright side, the staff organized plenty of activities, and the food was pretty good.

"A wonderful place with no needed improvements so far!"
We can’t think of any improvements needed so far. This place was one of the cheaper options we found, especially considering how nice it is. It really is a lovely place! What sold us was the homey feeling we got when we visited. We followed our instincts, and it’s been great! The place is beautiful, and the price was definitely a big plus. The only downside is that it only accepts private pay. Other than that, everything has been going well!

"Very Nice, But Not Quite Right"
Very nice! We didn't choose this community because they only had a spot on the Alzheimer's unit, not the memory unit. They said they'd move her to the memory group during the day, but we thought it would be difficult for her to switch between groups and that it was too large. But overall, we were very impressed.

"Good food but some concerns"
There are a couple of things that I am constantly concerned about. His closet is always a mess with clothes mixed up, some not his, and some of his clothes missing, even though his name is on them. They do laundry all together with everyone’s clothes. He is dressed nicely and his clothes match, but they don't put a sweater on him every day, which he loves, but that is okay. They also seem to always need supplies like wipes and gloves, and I wonder why they don’t offer a fee to cover the supplies. Sometimes they don't tell us they need them until the last minute. They have many activities listed on the calendar that don’t happen. We have gone there for activities, and then they didn’t happen. They had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner with lots of people, and they handled everything nicely. The food is pretty good. Thanksgiving dinner was out of this world, really tasty! I chose this place because it is nearby, beautiful, friendly, and they have a dog in the assisted living and Alzheimer’s floor.

"Appointment Assistance Needed"
My mom's a bit challenging, but they try their best. Daily care's good, but wish they'd help more with appointments. They do meds but not appointments; we expected more. The doctor's okay but won't handle psychiatric meds. Appointments only on Thursdays between 9 and 1, if they're available. Overall, it's okay for most but not great for my mom's unique needs.

"Nice Community but Didn't Meet Care Needs"
I visited Sunrise Assisted Living in Wilmington, and it's a nice place. However, it didn't provide the care my loved one required. Compared to Pennsylvania, the costs here are higher. The common areas are bright and spacious, ensuring residents don't feel confined.

"Friendly Manager and Ideal Studio for Mom"
I really enjoyed this place. The manager was super helpful and gave us a great tour. The larger studio would be just right for my mom. The ‘entry’ fee is equal to one month’s rental fee, and the rental cost depends on the apartment size we choose.

"Beautiful Place, Tough Decision"
I visited Sunrise yesterday. It was a beautiful place! My only concern is that it's a private pay community. I loved the hallway setup, which felt different from the usual institutional style. The private dining room for parties and the wrap-around porch were nice extras. The Denver was my favorite room design, but the lower-end units were also very appealing. This is just the beginning of a tough decision
