I have a condition that led me to my 6th assisted living community, and I'm pleased with choosing American House. The accommodations here make me very happy.

"Lacking Support Staff: Long Wait Times, Not Recommended for Friends"
My friend asked, and I wouldn't suggest it. There aren't enough helpers around, and it's super tough to find someone when you need help. Plus, fixing stuff takes forever.

"Nice but Too Fancy and No Lanai"
American House at Coconut Point didn't appeal to my mom. She thought it was too fancy and didn't like that the assisted living and independent living were in the same building, even though they had separate dining and activities. It was a nice place, but my mom really liked having a lanai (a porch or balcony) at her apartment, and they didn't have that there.

"Absolutely No Assistance from American House Coconut Point"
This place did absolutely zero for my mom during her last few weeks. Every single day, I went there. I was taking care of her all by myself. I had to help her shower, dress up, fix her bed, bring her dirty clothes home, change her bedsheets, and take her downstairs for meals. Nobody bothered to check on her in the morning. I complained a bunch of times, only to hear that they were short on staff. My mom was pretty miserable there, and I would emphatically advise against American House Coconut Point!

"Affordable, family-friendly assisted living near home."
We chose this place because it's close to our home. They opened a more affordable wing recently, and it's a good spot for my dad. I'd recommend it to other families.

"Mixed Experience: Modern Facilities, Staffing Concerns Near Coconut Mall"
They have clean rooms and a modern building. The lobby, library, and sitting areas are nicely furnished. The nurse is excellent. Staff turnover is high. They don't respond to calls or emails. Some front desk staff are poorly trained and can't answer questions. We chose this place because it's near friends and Coconut Mall. The amenities are nice and everything is clean.

"Assisted Living with Fun Activities and Independent Living Pool"
American House offers plenty of fun activities for residents. The pool is a favorite; my mom loves being independent there. I often hear her praise these aspects the most. I would recommend this facility to others.

"Problematic leadership and inadequate care in assisted living facility"
They're pretty nice, but they don't do what they promise. They're frequently understaffed. The boss and other leaders, they never complete tasks. Our overall experience has been really terrible. They need more aides, the people dealing with meds need to be smarter about it, and the food needs to get better.

"Positive impressions despite staffing and management challenges at American House."
When we first arrived at American House, we were impressed. The place is clean and well-organized. We're happy overall, but they struggle with staffing. This affects activities and bookkeeping, managed separately. Care is good, which matters most to us.

"Inadequate Care and Denied Requests at Assisted Living Facility"
The only person that spoke English was the medical technician. Residents were continuously denied if they asked for more than half a cup of coffee per day. There wasn't any available drinks for the residents on the countertop. The meals were often served cold. Whenever the residents made a request, they repeatedly received a "no" in response. They missed four days of medication after their transfer from another American House location at Cocoanut Point. This is just a small part of a long list of problems I noticed. I only left my loved ones there for two weeks before pulling them out. Honestly, the American House should not be allowed to run a Memory Care Unit at Metro Blvd.

"Awful Service and Communication at Memory Care Facility"
Subpar service at Assisted Living Facility, Language barriers present" Most of the staff here don't seem to speak fluent English. The only word they appear to understand is NO. It's appalling that these individuals are entrusted with the care of our loved ones. The food situation isn't any better. Case in point, they once served a chilled soup for lunch that was so disfigured, it was challenging to recognize what kind of soup it was intended to be. They didn't even fill the cup halfway. This type of food service is simply not acceptable. The care provided is poor and the staff, especially the front desk personnel, is quite rude. The only person who could communicate with us clearly in English was the medical technician. Our relatives were here for the first four days without any of their required medications. We brought this to the attention of one of the management staff but we couldn't receive the necessary medications until we contacted several external resources in the state of Florida. I strongly advise against placing anyone in Memory Care at this American House Coconut Point. It's seriously disappointing.

"Seeking Bigger Apartment At Different American House Location"
The place doesn't offer a big enough apartment for my parents. So, I decided to check out another American House in Bonita Springs which might be a better fit. I'll be going for a complete tour on Tuesday, December 5.

"Top-Notch Assistance During Hurricane"
The folks at this place are awesome! They really took care of everyone during the hurricane. When my folks came back, they checked on them and brought meals to their room because the dining area was broken. They have fun stuff to do, keep the place clean, and now they can cook meals again right there. Highly recommended.

"Smooth Transition for Parents; Grateful for A Place for Mom"
My folks are adjusting well. American House really helped with the change. Talking about this with your parents is tough. A Place for Mom guided us. Since our family lives out of state, A Place for Mom found communities where my parents wanted to stay. They helped us choose the perfect one.

"Impressive Assisted Living Facility at Coconut Point"
I visited American House at Coconut Point and was super impressed. They seem like they can help take care of my Mom really well. The cost is fair compared to other places like it. The gardens are pretty and neat. Also, the location is awesome. Can't quite give it 5 stars, but it's up there.

"Feels like a 5-star resort, amazing amenities and care!"
I don't worry about my dad's care anymore since he moved to American House Coconut Point in Estero. It feels like a 5-star resort! The staff are caring, efficient, and make sure he joins the activities. The grounds are beautiful, and there are volunteers helping, too. There's a movie theater, putting green, shuffleboard, and even a swimming pool with rails for extra support. The amenities are incredible. I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for care for their loved one.

Daughter of a Resident
"Simply the Best"
Helping our 96-year-old mother choose assisted living was quite a journey. We explored many options before narrowing them down. She enjoyed living independently and was reluctant to move. The staff at Coconut Point was sensitive to our family's needs but focused on Mom. The first visit overwhelmed her, but with time, she realized Coconut Point was an extraordinary option for downsizing and joining a senior community. She's been there for three weeks and has a new lease on life. She has independence in a safe environment. The staff is caring and attentive. As a picky eater, she enjoys the food variety and quality. Alone, she wasn't eating properly. She enjoys her private apartment, decorated with her items. Daily walks around the grounds energize her. There are many activities to choose from. Coconut Point AH opened in September 2016 and is experiencing growing pains. The building and amenities are impressive. Start-ups like this are challenging due to visitor volume and the needs of a vulnerable population. [Removed] and staff are assessing and reorganizing to meet needs, involving residents and families. From our perspective, AH is addressing these issues and continuously improving. Our mother is happy and enjoys her new lifestyle. We feel relieved that the staff treats her with respect, keeps her safe, and cares for her needs.

"Avoid! Poor Care & Meals, Lacking Activities at This Facility"
If you care about your loved ones, you'd steer clear of this facility...they've got no permanent round-the-clock medical care. Whenever something goes wrong, their standard solution is to send them to the ER. The meals are downright revolting, typically served cold and sloppily tossed onto the plates...like they're just and have no voice. Activities? That's laughable. If the activities coordinator feels inspired, maybe they'll gather the residents for a brief moment. Most of the time, the caregivers are the ones playing dominoes with the residents. For the most part, the residents seem overly medicated, spending their days like sleepwalking specters, slumping on chairs or couches...that's about what their activity list looks like. Please consider sending your loved ones elsewhere.

"Great Place with Room to Improve On Food"
My wife and I are doing alright in our new place. The workers and how clean the area is are great. Meals are hit or miss, sometimes it tastes like cafeteria food. Getting a new cook could really make our food better. Plus, I have a nurse who helps me a lot.

"Father's Adjustment Going Well, Assisted Living Provides Safety and Care"
My dad's doing alright here. We're still figuring things out, but it's a nice spot. I feel good knowing he's safe and looked after. He's getting used to it, and they're taking good care of him. Overall, it's been a positive experience.
