"Mixed Experience: Food and Staff Need Improvement, But Good Community"
My family member chose this place. The food's not great and they don't have enough kitchen helpers. They've only been there a little while. But they do like the people they've met.

"Neglected Mold Issue in Assisted Living Facility Negatively Impacts Health"
A few years back, my parents moved into this assisted living facility. Right from the start, I smelled what seemed like mold in their new apartment. When I asked about it, the staff insisted there wasn't any. I kept noticing the smell, but my parents didn't, so I figured I might be overly sensitive to it. Worried, I requested their apartment be tested for mold. The assistant director got a company to take samples from their apartment and promised a copy of the findings, which we never received. The assistant director and the testing company representative assured us the apartment was mold-free and safe for my parents. Despite multiple requests, they wouldn't give us the report, insisting everything was okay. By May 2018, I spotted what looked like mold on all walls of their second bedroom. Despite reporting this to higher-ups, only a maintenance worker was sent to bleach the walls. They even tried to fault my parents for the mouldy situation. That's when I decided to move my parents out. While clearing their things, I found damp, discolored carpet in one room. It looked like water had been leaking inside. It was obvious that nobody planned to properly address these problems. I tried reaching out to the head office but got no response. I also learned from facility workers that the company's report was never received by the executive or assistant executive directors. Furthermore, employees hinted at other apartments and buildings on the campus with mould issues. I'm sharing this experience as a warning to those considering moving their loved ones into this assisted living facility. Based on how our issues were handled, I strongly advise against this place.

"Serious Mold Issues Unaddressed by the Independent Living Facility Management"
A few years ago, my folks moved into this Independent Living Facility. Right off the bat, I figured there was mold due to a certain smell, but both the staff and my parents denied it. I convinced myself it was just my heightened sensitivity to mold. However, in the Autumn of 2017, I noticed my parents' health had shockingly deteriorated. I requested the assistant director to check their apartment for mold. She arranged for a company to take samples but became evasive about sharing the report they produced. Both she and the company maintained the apartment was mold-free and safe, firmly refusing to share the report. By May 2018, I saw what looked like mold on every wall in my parents' second bedroom. I reported it to the management but they only sent a maintenance guy to clean the walls with bleach, and pointed fingers at my parents for the mold and mildew. The damp, discolored carpet in the bedroom's closet seemed like there was water seeping into the apartment. My parents moved out, and no amount of contacting the main office compelled a response about the strange wall growths and if they were being properly treated. I have since learnt from staff that the then-Executive Director and Assistant Director never really got the mold test's results. The same staff also mentioned other parts of the facility that have or had mold. I'm sharing this in case there are others who need to safeguard the wellbeing of their elderly loved ones living here or thinking of moving here.

"A Caring Community for Seniors Over the Years"
My parents moved into AG almost 15 years ago, and their experience has been amazing. My dad passed away, and the support we got from the staff at AG during his hospice care was truly above and beyond. Since then, my mom has been living independently, and the support team has been fantastic. While some things have changed over the years, it hasn’t really affected costs or services much. The only small complaints my parents had were about the lawn care, which were very minor. I highly recommend this senior living community for the great care they provide. My parents made a wonderful choice.

"Promising start but disappoints with service cuts and unhappy staff."
Aston Gardens looked so nice at first, especially the lobby, and they really knew how to sell it. But after your family member moves in, things start to change. The staff keeps saying there are "changes" because of money problems. They start cutting services, saying they can't afford them anymore. Lots of folks have left because of this, which means even less help and grumpy staff. It's sad because this place used to be great.

"Decline of Aston Gardens: Promises Break, Services Cut"
Aston Gardens gives an amazing first impression with its pretty front desk and well-rehearsed sales talk. But once your family member moves in, the "commitments" they made start to vanish. The staff always cites "adjustments" as the reason. All of the sudden, this service is gone, that assistance is trimmed due to budget problems. It seems budget is always an issue as a lot of folks have moved out because of it. That leads to less aid and unhappy workers, making yet more folks depart. It's a real pity, this place used to be incredible.
