"Poor management and underpaid staff at Wickshire"
Don't trust Wickshire with your family. They lie a lot. There are no real nurses, just medical techs who haven't had enough training. The workers say they don't get paid enough. That's why they aren't bothered. This place is so badly managed.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living"
The place and staff were really nice. But they didn’t communicate enough during the first few weeks. My brother needed more attention during his transition. Sadly, he passed away after 7 weeks. He missed home, but couldn’t care for himself.

"Paid More, Received Less: Wickshire Port St. Lucie Underdelivers"
My mom used to live at Wickshire Port St. Lucie. At first, it seemed great, but then everything changed. Lots of staff quit and the care just wasn't the same. The plan was for my mom to shower twice a week. I went on a trip in August and came back, only to find that my mom hadn't bathed in a week. Her hair was greasy and she didn't smell good. I questioned the staff and they didn't have a clue. I also asked the boss, who doesn't work there anymore, and she said she'd look into it. They first lost her shower schedule, then claimed my mom didn't want to bathe, which isn't true. On top of that, they sent a bill stating her care level was going up and would cost an extra $700 a month. No explanation. That's crazy considering the care she should've gotten was missing to begin with. I informed the new boss that my mom was moving out on the first of the month. She apologized and then mentioned we were supposed to give a 30-day notice. Why would we? Especially when they upped her costs and failed to give her a proper shower. Now, they're billing her for September when she wasn't even there. It seems all they care about is money, not the people. It's really sad. I wouldn't suggest Wickshire Port St. Lucie to anyone.

"Caring and Supportive Staff Make Dad Feel at Home"
I want to thank the nurse, [name removed], who helped my dad fill out forms for the VA. She was patient and took the time to explain everything clearly. Another person who deserves thanks is . She always has a positive attitude and is quick to help out. The kitchen staff also deserve a shout-out. They're always kind to my dad and joke around with him, which he loves. And lastly, [name removed] at Wickshire provides excellent service. is also wonderful. He checks in on my dad regularly and makes sure he's doing okay health-wise. And [name removed], the business manager, has been incredibly helpful and understanding when it comes to the financial side of things. Plus, the receptionist,, and are all so friendly. They've helped with work orders, got my dad on the shuttle schedule for his doctor appointments, and are always positive whether we're talking on the phone or in person.

"Caring Staff and Convenient Fit"

"Clean and Friendly, but Slow Assistance"
The staff is really nice, and most of the services are good. There have been three different chefs since I arrived. The meals are okay, some better than others. Overall, it's not a bad place because it's very clean. Cleanliness is super important to me. If you're looking for an affordable option, I'd recommend this place. The one thing that needs improvement is the response time when I needed assistance – it took over an hour.

"Mixed Feelings About Wickshire Port St. Lucie Assisted Living"
When it comes to the food, it's not great quality and sometimes not heated properly. For example, a grilled cheese sandwich with only one slice of cheese on untoasted bread. Wickshire Port St. Lucie is very nice overall. The memory care unit is clean, and the caregivers are especially kind. I did have some issues that took a year to resolve, mostly due to problems with maintenance help, but that has been sorted out. Overall, the facility is clean and pleasant. I would recommend it and I'm glad my step dad has a safe place to live.

"Great Value and Friendly Staff, But Salty Food"
We picked Wickshire Port St. Lucie because it was affordable for her. The place is very clean and the people are friendly. Her studio is just right for her needs. [Name removed], who helped us at the start, was really helpful and honest. They’ve been good with her medications. However, she doesn't like the food; she says it’s too salty. They had a meeting with the chef, but I don’t know if anything changed yet. Overall, I would recommend Wickshire to others.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
This place isn't perfect, but I'd recommend it to others. They listen and have helped our family member after we talked to them. It's better to move in early for assisted living rather than waiting until you're very sick. I might choose to live here myself. One thing I really like is how easy they make visiting. We can spend a lot of time with our family member, which isn't always possible elsewhere.

"Great Memory Care Facility with Outstanding Caregivers"
Our mother has been happily living at Brookdale Port St. Lucie Clare Bridge Memory for four years. She has a lovely room with wonderful, loving caregivers who take excellent care of her every need. As we go to work every day, we know Mom is safe, secure, enjoying her meals and snacks, doing activities that fit her abilities, and receiving her medications on time. The quality nursing staff monitor her throughout the day for any issues. We are in constant communication with the nursing staff and caregivers to ensure Mom is as happy and healthy as possible during her struggle with Alzheimer's. We are grateful every day that our mother lives in this wonderful, home-like atmosphere with caregivers who treat her like their own mother. Very often, she believes her caregivers are her children, showing mutual respect and love that comes with genuine kindness. For all the loving care Mom receives and for the Memory Care Unit director who makes sure residents are safe, secure, comfortable, and receive necessary medical care promptly, we are so thankful. It is a second home for us because of the directors and staff who create a family atmosphere that works well. Four years and we're still very happy!

"Decent Care Home, Will Revisit for Costs and Further Consideration"
This place is pretty positive and friendly. [Removed] took the time to show me around. There are fun things to do from 10 in the morning till 8 in the evening, so plenty of chances to make friends. I'll probably go back for another look, cause I think my mom might like it there. I can't remember how much it costs so I'll need to check that next time.

"Avoid this place: Poor Care and Communication Issues"
The Memory Care unit at this place is TERRIBLE! You should not send your loved ones here. The people who work here don't properly understand how to care for people with Dementia or Alzheimer's. The Assisted Living residents are the only ones who can join in the events. A lot of the staff act nice but write down things differently than how they really happened, especially the ones in higher positions. How the staff talks to the families and to the resident's doctors is really bad, too. I have so many problems with this place. There are only a couple of staff members who really know and care for the residents like they should. From what I've seen, heard, and dealt with, the resident's safety and happiness does NOT seem like it's important to them, nor is giving the residents the care and service they need, unless it's from one of the very few staff members who actually care. It seems like most of the staff would rather have the residents take a lot of medicine and be really quiet, especially if the resident is in the Memory Care Unit. Resident's things keep getting lost, medicines are not managed right and sometimes even get forgotten, residents aren't checked on as much as the staff promises, and the resident rooms aren't checked to make sure they're the right temperature, clean, or maintained. I could go on and on with my complaints about this place.

"Too Short a Stay"
The process of getting my mom into Horizon Bay was great. Sadly, she got sick the day after moving in and spent only 3 nights there before going to the hospital, where she passed away. Mom was really happy about moving to Horizon Bay for the services and value. I wish she could have stayed longer. Barbara, the sales representative, was easy to work with and very caring during our experience.

"The perfect home for my mother!"
I was heartbroken when I learned my mother needed 24/7 care. I visited several places but felt really good about Horizon Bay. I wanted her to feel like she was “at home.” Some other places looked like fancy hotels, but that’s not what we needed. We needed a comfy, friendly place where she’d be cared for and happy. My mom’s room is huge, freshly painted, and looks out over the garden. She loves it. Mom says the food is great. Everyone treats her with respect. When we visit, she’s always clean, well-fed, and happy. She’s never alone and always has something to do. There’s no “hospital smell.” We can visit anytime. Making this decision wasn’t easy, but Barb didn’t give up on me and helped all the way. Now that my mom has settled in, I can honestly say this was the best choice for her. I highly recommend Horizon Bay for anyone looking for a safe, clean, and caring home for their loved ones.

My brother and sister-in-law live at Horizon Bay Assisted Living. I usually visit for a week, twice a year. I spend the whole day with them and have meals there, except when we go out for dinner. Meals are good and nutritious, and service is fast. Coffee is available in the lobby from 6:30 am. The staff, including the directors, are very friendly and helpful. I've called many times, and they usually return my calls the same day. I even get hugs from two directors when I leave. Entertainment is great, and residents enjoy the activities. I spent a lot of time outside on the rocking chairs, and other residents were friendly and talkative.

I found Horizon Bay to be a great, caring home for my husband. The staff went above and beyond in taking care of the residents. The activities weren't ideal for my husband since he preferred walking over sitting activities, though he did enjoy dancing. The food was tasty, and he was well cared for.

We've had a great experience with Horizon Bay. They do an excellent job here! It’s a smaller facility, which means there’s a good number of caretakers for each resident. Each person gets a lot of personal, one-on-one care, and they really look out for everyone who lives here!

"Nice Place But Quite Pricey"
We checked out this place when we were searching for the right place for a family member to live. It was a pretty nice looking spot, tidy and the people working there were nice too. But, it was a lot pricier compared to other places we saw, almost double the cost of where she's staying currently. Nonetheless, she seemed to like it and it's one of our choices.

"Poor Communication and Care at Horizon Bay"
I was really let down by Horizon Bay. I put my dad in their memory care department, but I didn't feel like he was properly taken care of. My dad was a big man and they didn't inform me beforehand that they lacked the equipment to assist him getting in and out of bed. When he had to be hospitalized, they wouldn't take him back, but they kept this from us until after we'd paid for another month of their services.

"Adequate facility but comes with some issues"
This place is okay - the people who work here are nice and they do take care of their residents. But, they could definitely be better. For example, even though they hear out my concerns, it doesn't seem like they ever really do anything about them. Another thing that bugs me is all the smokers hanging out by the main entrance - it gives the whole place an unpleasant smell. I also had a problem with their bill payment system. I was mistakenly overcharged in the first month, and it took me 5 months to get it sorted out.

"Concerning for COPD due to Unkempt Air Vents"
My brother runs an assisted living facility himself and he noticed a few things that aren't great for someone with COPD. The biggest issue was how clean the air conditioning vents were. It seems like an old building and they're probably overdue for some updates. On the bright side, we did enjoy how large the dining room was.

"Great staff, but some improvements needed for diet and communication"
I think they do a good job keeping the place clean and are very attentive. I can call anytime with questions, and I’m happy with that. I still feel a bit shocked by the cost. They manage a lot, and while they aren't extremely expensive, the costs add up, especially for medication management. It’s about $300 to $400 a month depending on the number of medications, which is a lot, but it's worth it since I don’t have to handle it myself. My mother is very happy with her room, and the nursing staff is good. The maintenance staff is also great. The activity director is very kind and has done a lot to include my mom. They do a really good job overall. The executive director is very attentive and available. It would be nice to have more fresh vegetables and better communication about diet restrictions. A set way to request these things would be helpful.

"Choosing Horizon Bay for Mom's Assisted Living was Ideal"
I went to Port St. Lucie to find a place for my mom. She was in rehab after a fall at home. A senior advisor gave me some suggestions. My sister and I looked at most of them and picked Horizon Bay. What really impressed me was how happy the people living there were. They came up to us during the tour and said great things about Horizon Bay. None of the other places had that. The place was clean, bright, and most rooms had decorations outside. Plus, it was the cheapest and had the best activities, which mom likes. The room was small, like all the others we saw, but since she's 93, she doesn't need much care. Mom's happy with our choice and loves the food.
