"Neglected Oasis: Roaches, Mold, and Abysmal Management Plague Facility"
This place just got bought by a new group, now calling it Oasis, but it's anything but. The folks running it have no idea how to operate an assisted living facility. Got a problem? Good luck finding the director or anyone in charge, because they're nowhere to be found. They serve the worst food I've ever seen. Constant complaints have the state inspectors in and out. Residents walk around smelling like they haven't been cleaned in ages. You wouldn't believe the conditions - it's awful. The kitchen is crawling with roaches, they don't have any garbage pickup so trash is piled in massive bags and kept in the garbage room and the smell is just unbearable. I've seen black mold coming from leaky windows and under the carpets all over the place. And the emergency exits? Some are jammed shut with paint, I had to kick one to get it open.

"The review highlights mixed experiences."
I wouldn't recommend this place. They focus on sales, lack follow-up, and my loved one felt ignored. Upper management responds sporadically. On the bright side, the cleaning and dining staff are great, but the dining room can be cliquey.

"'Facility Lacks Staff and Security, Poor Food and Management'"
Be extremely cautious if you're considering placing your loved one in this facility at the moment. The place is dealing with staffing problems, the meals are terrible, and the leaders definitely seem overwhelmed. The main office portrays care but it seems they've totally forgotten about the management and employees. It's almost impossible to get a call back from anyone. There have been incidents where doors were left unlocked at night, and the reception area has been unmanned during the evening multiple times.

"Unhappy Family, Poor Service at Wickshire Fort Lauderdale"
Our time at Wickshire Fort Lauderdale has been really bad. The staff, from the top to the bottom, haven't been answering our family's questions or worries about the person we care about. Our family feels let down and quite upset by what has happened here. We really wish things would get better for our family member and us.

We picked Wickshire because it's close and had the right apartment size. The food is really good with lots of choices. It recently changed owners, so we hope it stays as good. Activities are paused due to COVID. Overall, we'd recommend it to others.

"Mixed feelings about Atria Willow Wood assisted living facility"
Atria Willow Wood is a nice place to live. The staff is nice and so are the other people who live here. Right now, they are doing construction work to make the place even better. But there's a problem with black mold here. Also, the staff doesn't have enough people, and they need better training.

"Nice, updated facility with great resident involvement and family access"
The property is older but is being fixed up as new residents move in. All the 1 and 2-bedroom units have enclosed terraces, and they encourage families to stay involved. For example, the pool is open to both residents and their families. They offer open dining with two dining areas. The residents are really involved too, helping to keep the library stocked and maintained. They also have two buses and a car to take residents to doctor's appointments, shopping, and other activities.

"Upset About Broken Promises and Unfair Treatment"
My dad has dementia and often gets scared, thinking people are hurting him in the middle of the night. He's likely just mixed up and still adapting. I'm okay with how they're looking after him. But, I'm upset because they promised me two months of free rent and didn't keep their word. Plus, I signed an agreement for a certain apartment and they gave it away to someone else, moving my dad downstairs instead. I'm really not happy with the leaders at this place.

"Disappointing Care and Unfulfilled Promises at Assisted Living Facility"
The Marketing Director did a great job showing us around and having the doctor quickly check on Dad for a short-term stay while we were visiting my very sick brother in Florida. But sadly, the care staff never managed to provide a good level of care during the whole 10-day period, and they didn't keep other promises. They promised basic furniture like a lampshade but never provided it, and it took them more than a week to set up a very small TV.... so the place didn't really meet the expectations, which is disappointing!

"Mixed Reviews for Assisted Living Facility"
The people working here keep misplacing my dad's clothes. They don't clean them, and they don't give them back. I've asked other people about this, but don't get any replies. My dad was told he'd have cable TV, but he only gets 4 channels. It's been three weeks since they said they'd fix it and they still haven't. The people in charge here don't seem to know what's going on. The food is good, though. But it bothers staff that my dad leaves his wheelchair to sit in a regular chair in the dining room.

"Review of Brookdale Independent Assisted Living"
This Brookdale Independent Assisted Living facility impressed me for several reasons. There are lots of big activity areas, not just one multi-use space. The floor plans have plenty of closet space, and the wide doors and hallways make it easy for walkers or wheelchairs. I also liked the full kitchens, with a stove that can be turned off for safety. Although there aren't many minorities, the residents are still very diverse.

"Staff's Effort Remains Amidst Willow Wood's Aged State"
At Willow Wood, everything seems aged and damaged. The management has changed since my dad moved in. The meals served there are not good at all. We are completely unsatisfied. I honestly can't find anything positive to mention about the facility. I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. However, the staff members are the only positive element with everyone willing and ready to help. My father is not content with the activities provided either. It was not a pleasing experience altogether. The entire structure appears very rundown and gloomy.

"Very Happy with the Essentials at Pacifica"
We are very happy with them. Everything has worked out great. My dad thinks the food is good. They have lots of activities. They could be a bit more creative, but they meet his needs perfectly. The staff is really friendly. It’s pretty clean, though the maintenance team doesn't always get much done; you have to keep on top of them. Some extras are lacking, but the essentials are great. There was some confusion about what's included and what's extra. But all the little things are far outweighed by the good stuff.

"A Great Place for Mom"
My mom is 92 and has severe dementia. We took care of her at home for as long as we could. We hired an aide during the day, and my brother or I stayed with her at night. After a brief hospital stay, we visited a few ALFs recommended by A Place For Mom and chose Willow Wood. It's been about six weeks, and we are VERY pleased. She's in the "Memory Care" wing, The Canopy, and they take great care of her. We pay extra for help with toileting, dressing, and getting to meals, and it's worth it. They keep her entertained every day. They are true professionals and get my mom to cooperate, which she wouldn't do for us. We can't thank them enough! We had Easter dinner with her in the dining room, and it was delicious. I highly recommend Willow Wood, and Maria & Beverly are angels!

"Compassionate staff, spacious apartments, and great food."
I helped my aunt move to Willow Wood. She has only been there a few weeks, and I live in another state. After we agreed on an apartment, my aunt and her son were hesitant to move. This wasn't Willow Wood's fault. I reached out to the staff many times, speaking with both the marketing person and the assisted living director. They were extremely compassionate, helpful, and patient with my family. Once she moved in, my aunt had a few issues typical for adjusting to a new place. I called today and spoke with the director, who was very understanding and said she would immediately solve these issues. I am excited to visit. My aunt bought new furniture and loves her apartment. It's huge for an assisted living facility. I toured the place five months ago and thought it was lovely, and the lunch was very good. My aunt was about to celebrate her 90th birthday, and the dining staff came out with a dessert and sang Happy Birthday!

"Willow Wood: Boosting Parents' Well-being and Social Life"
My mom and dad share a cozy one-bedroom spot at Willow Wood. Though no place is flawless, we've noticed a big change in how they feel and what they do. They used to live in a condo, alone, and were slowly getting worse, not taking care of themselves or eating right. But since they moved to Willow Wood, Mom's been more into her appearance, has more energy, and is joining in on lots of activities, making new friends fast. Dad's gotten way better too. Even though he's not as healthy as before, he loves being with his new pals, eats well, and enjoys the activities. Knowing the staff keeps an eye out and lets us know if anything needs attention makes us feel really safe.

Loved it, but sadly, no openings. The salesperson was fantastic and showed us the best. There was so much going on for the assisted living folks. My father-in-law didn’t have Alzheimer’s, so he would have been in assisted living, and my mother-in-law would have needed memory care. They had a great setup for couples with different needs. There were special activities where they could mingle. If it was me and my husband, that’s where we would go! Willow Wood seemed perfect for people who might need more care in the future. It was the best place we saw for that kind of transition. They would have taken care of her no matter how much care she needed. It looked like a country club!

My dad could be in the dementia unit, and my mom could be on the other side. It’s a fabulous place, at least from our visits. We really like it. I worked with Carlos, and he's fantastic. I just wish it was $1,000 less or at least closer to what we're paying now. The memory care offers more personal care because they have a smaller group, so they can give more one-on-one attention.
