"Nice Community, Not Ideal for Loved One's Health Stage"

We visited Oasis Living Quarters and liked the tour and community. However, it's not the best fit for our loved one's health needs.

"Neglected Oasis: Roaches, Mold, and Abysmal Management Plague Facility"

This place just got bought by a new group, now calling it Oasis, but it's anything but. The folks running it have no idea how to operate an assisted living facility. Got a problem? Good luck finding the director or anyone in charge, because they're nowhere to be found. They serve the worst food I've ever seen. Constant complaints have the state inspectors in and out. Residents walk around smelling like they haven't been cleaned in ages. You wouldn't believe the conditions - it's awful. The kitchen is crawling with roaches, they don't have any garbage pickup so trash is piled in massive bags and kept in the garbage room and the smell is just unbearable. I've seen black mold coming from leaky windows and under the carpets all over the place. And the emergency exits? Some are jammed shut with paint, I had to kick one to get it open.

"The review highlights mixed experiences."

I wouldn't recommend this place. They focus on sales, lack follow-up, and my loved one felt ignored. Upper management responds sporadically. On the bright side, the cleaning and dining staff are great, but the dining room can be cliquey.

"Renovated Facility Prioritizes Safety for Seniors"

The assisted living facility got a nice makeover, but the rooms aren’t the top priority. They’ve removed old rugs and made the bathroom safer for seniors.

"Nice apartment, great dining staff; admin lacks responsiveness and delays maintenance."

Our spacious, renovated apartment is nice. Dining staff are wonderful. Front desk is efficient. Administration lacks responsiveness; maintenance delays.

"'Facility Lacks Staff and Security, Poor Food and Management'"

Be extremely cautious if you're considering placing your loved one in this facility at the moment. The place is dealing with staffing problems, the meals are terrible, and the leaders definitely seem overwhelmed. The main office portrays care but it seems they've totally forgotten about the management and employees. It's almost impossible to get a call back from anyone. There have been incidents where doors were left unlocked at night, and the reception area has been unmanned during the evening multiple times.

"Unhappy Family, Poor Service at Wickshire Fort Lauderdale"

Our time at Wickshire Fort Lauderdale has been really bad. The staff, from the top to the bottom, haven't been answering our family's questions or worries about the person we care about. Our family feels let down and quite upset by what has happened here. We really wish things would get better for our family member and us.

"Assisted Living Tour: Friendly Start, Forgetful Follow-Up"

We toured the place, and it was good. The sales folks were nice. But when they called later, they seemed to forget everything we said. It felt like they didn't really hear us.

"Not impressed, lacked amenities compared to preferred community choice."

I didn't really like this place much. When I compared it to the other community, number one, it just came down to what they offered, and I didn't choose this one.

"Convenient Choice with Great Food and COVID Impacts"

We picked Wickshire because it's close and had the right apartment size. The food is really good with lots of choices. It recently changed owners, so we hope it stays as good. Activities are paused due to COVID. Overall, we'd recommend it to others.

"Great Assistance!"

The staff was top-notch and really helpful.

"Mixed feelings about Atria Willow Wood assisted living facility"

Atria Willow Wood is a nice place to live. The staff is nice and so are the other people who live here. Right now, they are doing construction work to make the place even better. But there's a problem with black mold here. Also, the staff doesn't have enough people, and they need better training.

"Improvement needed in care and activities."

Management doesn't care. Staff and residents good. Food and activities bad.

"Nice, updated facility with great resident involvement and family access"

The property is older but is being fixed up as new residents move in. All the 1 and 2-bedroom units have enclosed terraces, and they encourage families to stay involved. For example, the pool is open to both residents and their families. They offer open dining with two dining areas. The residents are really involved too, helping to keep the library stocked and maintained. They also have two buses and a car to take residents to doctor's appointments, shopping, and other activities.

"Mother Thriving in Caring Community"

My mom's doing great here. It's been a good change for her. I feel she's safe and taken care of. The staff is nice and always ready to help. The place looks nice every time I come. Overall, we're happy with it here.

"A beautiful room with a lake view"

This is a nice community with helpful and caring staff. His room has a beautiful lake view, just like he wanted. The menu is wonderful, and he enjoys knowing there are great activities when he feels like joining in. We think it's a beautiful place with great care and good value, and we would recommend it to other families.

"Didn't Smell Fresh"

The tour was good, and the man showing me around was very nice and thorough. The staff were nice, but when we walked through the first floor, it smelled like urine. I also noticed small repairs needed in the corners and ceiling. The carpets need replacing too.

"Upset About Broken Promises and Unfair Treatment"

My dad has dementia and often gets scared, thinking people are hurting him in the middle of the night. He's likely just mixed up and still adapting. I'm okay with how they're looking after him. But, I'm upset because they promised me two months of free rent and didn't keep their word. Plus, I signed an agreement for a certain apartment and they gave it away to someone else, moving my dad downstairs instead. I'm really not happy with the leaders at this place.

"Disappointing Care and Unfulfilled Promises at Assisted Living Facility"

The Marketing Director did a great job showing us around and having the doctor quickly check on Dad for a short-term stay while we were visiting my very sick brother in Florida. But sadly, the care staff never managed to provide a good level of care during the whole 10-day period, and they didn't keep other promises. They promised basic furniture like a lampshade but never provided it, and it took them more than a week to set up a very small TV.... so the place didn't really meet the expectations, which is disappointing!

"Mixed Reviews for Assisted Living Facility"

The people working here keep misplacing my dad's clothes. They don't clean them, and they don't give them back. I've asked other people about this, but don't get any replies. My dad was told he'd have cable TV, but he only gets 4 channels. It's been three weeks since they said they'd fix it and they still haven't. The people in charge here don't seem to know what's going on. The food is good, though. But it bothers staff that my dad leaves his wheelchair to sit in a regular chair in the dining room.

"Wonderful, Caring Home"

I've been here for only three weeks and am thrilled with my decision—it's a wonderful, caring home. The chefs are the best! My apartment is beautiful, and the surrounding grounds are inviting. If I need assistance, it's here for me, which helps me sleep better.

"Mixed Feelings: Assisted Living Facility Tour Feedback"

This place is okay, but they need to keep it nicer. When I visited, the staff was nice and helpful. They told me a lot of useful stuff. The place is really big, which might be too much for my mom. I was kind of overwhelmed. But overall, the tour was good.

"Happy Father-in-Law Adjusting Well in Friendly Community"

My father-in-law loves it here! He likes the food, enjoys the meals, and the staff are helpful. He's one of the youngest, so it's tough finding others he can connect with. Overall, we're happy with everything they've done for us.

"Caring Staff and Excellent Amenities Shine at Assisted Living Facility"

The staff at the assisted living facility were friendly and helpful. They showed genuine care for the residents, and the apartments and floor plan were pleasant. The dining facility served excellent food, and the organized activity schedule was impressive.

"Review of Brookdale Independent Assisted Living"

This Brookdale Independent Assisted Living facility impressed me for several reasons. There are lots of big activity areas, not just one multi-use space. The floor plans have plenty of closet space, and the wide doors and hallways make it easy for walkers or wheelchairs. I also liked the full kitchens, with a stove that can be turned off for safety. Although there aren't many minorities, the residents are still very diverse.

"Review of Comfort Haven - Davao City, PH"

Nice place with great amenities. The staff was friendly and helpful, really trying to understand what my loved one needed. We'll definitely keep this on our list.

"Staff's Effort Remains Amidst Willow Wood's Aged State"

At Willow Wood, everything seems aged and damaged. The management has changed since my dad moved in. The meals served there are not good at all. We are completely unsatisfied. I honestly can't find anything positive to mention about the facility. I wouldn't suggest it to anyone. However, the staff members are the only positive element with everyone willing and ready to help. My father is not content with the activities provided either. It was not a pleasing experience altogether. The entire structure appears very rundown and gloomy.

"Wonderful staff, great intake process, unbelievable workers."

The intake process folks were wonderful. Getting her in was good, they did a great job. All the people who work there are unbelievable.

"Great food, but dining hall needs improvement"

I think the food in the dining room is excellent, but the seating attendant was rude. They need to improve how they get everyone into the dining hall because so many people try to get in at the same time. Overall, it’s a pretty good place.

5/5.00 Published 9 years ago

"Amazing Management and Friendly Atmosphere"

Willow Wood has really strong leaders in charge. They have also created a friendly culture among both the staff and the residents living there. I give them a five-star rating overall.

4/5.00 Published 9 years ago

" Pleasant environment, but not suitable for younger residents. "

Willow Wood was pleasant, but Mom, in her 60s, felt out of place among mostly 80-somethings. She's moving to a spot with folks her age. Still, the place was nice, and everyone was friendly and helpful.

"Effective care but lacking communication. Overall satisfactory experience."

My loved one has been at the facility for just over a month. I think it's doing okay for him. The only issue is they don't keep me updated on him. I feel like they're not trying hard enough. Besides that, they're always friendly and helpful. Whenever I call, they pass on my messages to my dad. It's been pretty good so far. My loved one seems to enjoy being here.

"Willow Wood Review"

I visited several places, but this one felt cozy and friendly. It's not like other retirement homes. Everyone seems happy, active, and nice. The staff is super friendly and always ready to help. I really like Willow Wood. It feels like a nice community with a great atmosphere. There are wonderful people here. I definitely suggest this place.

"Very Happy with the Essentials at Pacifica"

We are very happy with them. Everything has worked out great. My dad thinks the food is good. They have lots of activities. They could be a bit more creative, but they meet his needs perfectly. The staff is really friendly. It’s pretty clean, though the maintenance team doesn't always get much done; you have to keep on top of them. Some extras are lacking, but the essentials are great. There was some confusion about what's included and what's extra. But all the little things are far outweighed by the good stuff.

"A Great Place for Mom"

My mom is 92 and has severe dementia. We took care of her at home for as long as we could. We hired an aide during the day, and my brother or I stayed with her at night. After a brief hospital stay, we visited a few ALFs recommended by A Place For Mom and chose Willow Wood. It's been about six weeks, and we are VERY pleased. She's in the "Memory Care" wing, The Canopy, and they take great care of her. We pay extra for help with toileting, dressing, and getting to meals, and it's worth it. They keep her entertained every day. They are true professionals and get my mom to cooperate, which she wouldn't do for us. We can't thank them enough! We had Easter dinner with her in the dining room, and it was delicious. I highly recommend Willow Wood, and Maria & Beverly are angels!

"Seemed like a nice place"

We visited this community while looking for senior living options for a loved one. It seemed like a very nice place overall! Other than a few lightbulbs needing replacement, the place was incredibly clean. The residents and staff were friendly, and I liked that the staff knew all the residents by name. Scott, who gave the tour, did a great job and answered all our questions.

"Compassionate staff, spacious apartments, and great food."

I helped my aunt move to Willow Wood. She has only been there a few weeks, and I live in another state. After we agreed on an apartment, my aunt and her son were hesitant to move. This wasn't Willow Wood's fault. I reached out to the staff many times, speaking with both the marketing person and the assisted living director. They were extremely compassionate, helpful, and patient with my family. Once she moved in, my aunt had a few issues typical for adjusting to a new place. I called today and spoke with the director, who was very understanding and said she would immediately solve these issues. I am excited to visit. My aunt bought new furniture and loves her apartment. It's huge for an assisted living facility. I toured the place five months ago and thought it was lovely, and the lunch was very good. My aunt was about to celebrate her 90th birthday, and the dining staff came out with a dessert and sang Happy Birthday!

"Mixed Feelings about Willow Wood Assisted Living in Fort Lauderdale"

Willow Wood is okay, but some areas seem old. Apartments improved. Layouts good. Costs more than Preserve at Palm Aire but not as good. No need to check out more.

"Assisted Living Delights Residents with Personalized Care and Beautiful Surroundings"

Carlos did a fantastic job! The place looks awesome and clean. The people there seem really happy, especially because Carlos and his team know them by name. It was a nice time!

"Happy with Willow Wood's cleanliness and friendly staff"

We are really happy with Willow Wood. The place is very clean, and the staff is friendly. They pay attention to the residents and respond quickly to needs. The cost of these places can be surprising, but we loved how tidy it is and the size of the rooms. He has more living space than I do now, I think!

""Subpar Service for Assisted Living Needs""

In the independent living sector, they lack necessary help. They knew my mom wasn't well, but didn't provide her with warm meals. Now she's hospitalized.

"They're really good!"

They are really good. We like what they do. We looked at other places, and this one is the best. The food is great with many choices. We have no trouble finding parking. The laundry services have been good too.

"Pleasant Home with Room for Food Improvement"

We didn’t need any special care services. The food, though, could use some work. The choices aren’t great. I’d rate the food a three out of five. But, there’s lots of space to park your car. The laundry service gets a four—it’s pretty good. All in all, this place is really nice.

"Tour Highlights: Mom's Favorite Begonia Apartment!"

Mom and I had a great tour! She really liked the Begonia apartment. Unfortunately, it's not currently available. They offered us the Aster apartment for $2,750 per month, with a promise to switch to Begonia when it becomes available for just an extra $100.

The memory help section is in Dania Beach...it's just too distant for us.

"Very nice community, a bit hard to navigate"

I thought this place did a great job. My loved one stayed here for a while before we had to move her for personal reasons. It looked nice, provided good care and amenities, and the staff were very friendly. However, it was hard to get around; the layout didn't seem good. It was a VERY long walk (even for me!) from the rooms to the dining and common areas.

"Everything is working out well!"

This has been a great place for us. The extra services we needed do add to the cost, but everything is going well. The food is good, and the community is kept very clean. I can't think of much to improve. It was a big change for my family, but I’m just happy it’s working out. The whole process went smoothly.

"Willow Wood: Boosting Parents' Well-being and Social Life"

My mom and dad share a cozy one-bedroom spot at Willow Wood. Though no place is flawless, we've noticed a big change in how they feel and what they do. They used to live in a condo, alone, and were slowly getting worse, not taking care of themselves or eating right. But since they moved to Willow Wood, Mom's been more into her appearance, has more energy, and is joining in on lots of activities, making new friends fast. Dad's gotten way better too. Even though he's not as healthy as before, he loves being with his new pals, eats well, and enjoys the activities. Knowing the staff keeps an eye out and lets us know if anything needs attention makes us feel really safe.

"Excellent care and attention for my aunt!"

So far, everything is great! We chose this place because they have all five-star ratings. Their attention to detail made a big difference for my aunt. They worked hard to make her feel comfortable. There are over two hundred people living here, with both assisted living and independent living options. It's huge, but they still provide very personalized care.

4/5.00 Published 11 years ago

"Great Place, Not a Good Fit"

We didn't end up staying at Willow Wood. It's not a secure facility because they don't lock down. They have a separate building for Alzheimer's patients, but my relative was too young for the strict Alzheimer's ward. Overall, they were great, but unfortunately, it didn't work out for her.

5/5.00 Published 11 years ago

""

Loved it, but sadly, no openings. The salesperson was fantastic and showed us the best. There was so much going on for the assisted living folks. My father-in-law didn’t have Alzheimer’s, so he would have been in assisted living, and my mother-in-law would have needed memory care. They had a great setup for couples with different needs. There were special activities where they could mingle. If it was me and my husband, that’s where we would go! Willow Wood seemed perfect for people who might need more care in the future. It was the best place we saw for that kind of transition. They would have taken care of her no matter how much care she needed. It looked like a country club!

5/5.00 Published 11 years ago

"Dream place for parents"

We thought Willow Wood would be good, and even though it’s more expensive, we LOVED it! I would love for my parents to move there. My dad could be in the dementia unit, and my mom could be on the other side. It’s a fabulous place, at least from our visits. We really like it. I worked with Carlos, and he's fantastic. I just wish it was $1,000 less or at least closer to what we're paying now. The memory care offers more personal care because they have a smaller group, so they can give more one-on-one attention.
