"Great security and atmosphere, but dining room needs more staff"
We like Merrill Gardens at Barkley Place but have a small issue with the dining room. It doesn't have enough staff, so we sometimes wait a long time for a table or our meals. What we love most are the security, the bright atmosphere, morning check-ins, and the spacious rooms.

They adapted well to my parents’ changing needs and were excellent during the hurricane.

"Needs Improvement for Mom’s Stay"
Merrill Gardens at Barkley Place just wasn’t right for my mom. The place felt old and really needed some freshening up. Plus, my mom’s a vegetarian, and all they offered was a plain salad and some random veggies from the kitchen. That’s not enough for her meals.

"Not What We Expected"
The place felt old and gloomy, not what we had hoped for.

"Virtual Tour with Friendly Staff!"
We took a virtual tour of this community. The staff was super friendly and shared tons of helpful info. The tour went well, but unfortunately, we couldn't do an in-person visit due to COVID.

"Affordable, Clean, Friendly Staff, Mediocre Food: Mixed Experience in Assisted Living"
Compared to others, this place costs way less per month. Staff and management are friendly. Clean halls and reception, but outside gets messy on weekends. Food quality is low, typical institutional blandness. Apartments are small but acceptable for one person.

"Assisted Living: Clean, Friendly, but Uncertain Care"
The place was really clean, and the layout was good. They knew all the residents by their first names, which was nice. But there's a waiting list for assisted living, like two months long. I couldn't quite figure out how much help they'd give my dad, who needs a lot of reminders to stay active.

"Great place, but outdoor area needs some attention"
The outdoor area could use a little more care, but overall, everything else is fantastic. The staff is super helpful and friendly, and the activities are great. It's a wonderful place to live.

"Not Impressed, Too Small and High Cupboards"
Our trip here was fine but we weren't impressed. The room we checked out had cupboards that were too high for us to reach. The community felt much smaller than we expected, and we're aiming for a larger place.

I’m doing really well since moving to this community. Everyone has been kind and welcoming. The staff is great, and the residents are nice and friendly. I’ve learned new games with the activities they offer. I love to read, and they have a lovely library onsite. The meals are great with a nice selection to choose from. This is a great community, and I would recommend it. I’m comfortable here.

"Affordable but nice assisted living facility, great service, clean environment."
I liked how clean and nice the place was. The people there were friendly and answered all our questions. But we didn't choose it because of the price.

"Great Gem in Senior Care in Fort Myers, FL"
My 95-year-old aunt just moved into Barkley Place, and so far, we are very pleased. All the staff are friendly, kind, and eager to help. The food is very good, and the menu varies. The building is neat and clean, with many activities for the residents. Amenities include a swimming pool, exercise room, lounge, pool table room, beautiful gardens with benches, and a hair and nail salon. The prices are quite reasonable for all they offer. There are always nursing staff and therapists available. My aunt is currently in a studio but is already talking about upgrading to a one-bedroom. She seems very happy and this is her first time living on her own.

The experience has been great. They are super friendly and make everyone feel comfortable. I can’t find any fault with them. We saw other places that were fancier, but this place is wonderful and great for transitioning.

"Clean Spaces and Kind Staff But Concerning Maintenance Issues"
The common areas and pool were clean. The employees were nice. But the rooms they showed us were tiny and crowded. The hallways were long, skinny, and dark, which felt unwelcoming and sad. We also saw a bunch of little problems with things around the facility that made us wonder about how well it's maintained.

"Super nice and clean place!"
Anita, who handles admissions and marketing, has been really nice. She couldn't have been any nicer. The place is very clean, which matters a lot to us. They offer nice activities that my mother-in-law enjoys, although she wishes more people played bridge. Overall, it seems like a great place, and we would recommend Barkley Place.

"Seems Nice for Loved Ones"
We checked out this place for our relative's care. It was pretty nice! The staff were friendly, and it seems they take good care of the residents. We would've thought about it for our loved one.

"The right choice for Mom!"
Moving my 89-year-old mom from NY to Florida was a big challenge, but this community made the transition smooth. I waited two months to see how she’d adjust, and now she tells everyone, “I’m comfortable here.” That says everything! There are so many activities—exercise, crafts, movie nights, trips to the theater, church, and shopping. The staff and residents are super friendly, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and well-maintained. Barkley Place is a great value, offering a home-like feel and peace of mind for families. There's even a waitlist for a reason!

"Cozy, calm place"
We visited this place when we were checking out care choices for our family member. It's smaller than the other places we checked out, and the people living here seemed to need more care. It wouldn't have been the best match for our loved ones, but it looked like a peaceful, quiet setting that might suit someone else.

"Very nice community with great facilities!"
We visited this community to find a home for my mom. The Director was really nice and gave us a great tour. We saw the different types of rooms, and they were all very nice. They even have a pool! The whole community is well-kept and looks great!

"Caring Staff, Clean Facility, Low Activity Level at Barkley Place"
At Barkley Place, the people who work there are amazing. They're super nice and really care about everyone. If there's an issue, they take the time to fix it without getting mad. Plus, the food is yummy, and everything is always clean. But, there's not a lot to do there because they don't have much space for activities.

"A Real Place to Call Home"
After exploring 5 different communities in Ft. Myers, my mom chose Barkley without hesitation. The staff is exceptional—professional, friendly, and like family! While other places had fancier decor, Barkley was the clear winner for my mom to call home. The staff knows everyone by name and goes out of their way to accommodate families and residents. My mom is extremely happy in her lovely one-bedroom apartment with her cat and wishes she had moved in sooner!
