Barrington Terrace of Ft. Myers

"They’ve Got Issues"
It’s really expensive, almost like a fancy nursing home. They didn’t do much rehab for my mom after her knee surgery. Instead of using a walker, they pushed her in a wheelchair. They even wiped her after she used the toilet, even though she could do it herself. But management insisted. She lost her independence and had to wait for everything. She has early dementia, so she doesn’t think for herself and makes excuses. The medication they provided cost $90 a month, but it should have been only $8 like at Publix. Giving her meds cost $500 a month. And those meds caused uncomfortable diarrhea. They charge a lot for Depends, but they don’t remind you to buy them. Sometimes the Depends just disappeared, and we didn’t know if they were used on her. It was crazy.

"Family-Approved Care: Effective Communication and Quality Support"
They talk to me well about my mom. Care is good, staff work together. Mom enjoys food. Facility is nice. After touring many places, this was the right choice for us. It fits her well.

"Lack of Care: A Disappointing Experience at Barrington in Ft Myers"
Imagine if you trusted me with caring for your mom, and you asked where she was, and I just said "her room." Then, the hospital calls, you reach out to me again, and I go, "Oh, my staff tried reaching you." Then, your mom passes away in the hospital. Two days later, you speak to the Director of the facility, asking, "Where's my mom?" And she simply responds, "She's in the hospital." This isn't imagination; it's what happened at Barrington in Ft. Myers today. If you love someone, don't "leave" them there. They didn't even take a minute to call the hospital and check. They didn't bother to leave me a voicemail when she had a stroke and was taken to the hospital. They just don't care about their "customers."

"Friendly Staff and Comfortable Living"
We chose Barrington Terrace mainly because the people were very friendly and honest. She felt at ease right away. The location was also good since it wasn't far from her old home. They have lots of activities, but she mostly likes playing bingo and really enjoys it. She loves her apartment, and the staff does a great job checking on her, even at 3 AM to make sure everything is okay. Maintenance is great too; if there's a problem, they fix it within 30 minutes. Everything has been great, and I would definitely recommend it to others.
