"Not Quite the Right Fit"

Our family visited Beach House Jacksonville for an in-person tour. The amenities were similar to other places we've seen, but ultimately, it wasn't the right fit for our loved one.

"Mixed Experience at Beach House Assisted Living Facility"

After two weeks at Beach House, we sought alternative options. Staff assessed my sister's suitability but issues arose. The apartment appeared clean, yet trash service lacked consistency, indicating possible staff shortages. Despite friendly and helpful staff, my sister's needs exceeded what Beach House could provide. Delays in receiving an alarm pendant and medication errors posed serious concerns for her health. Limited food choices and lack of participation in activities highlighted the mismatch. While the mobile medical staff were commendable, the overall value felt disproportionate. Despite exploring other options, oversight remained a challenge. Advocacy is crucial in navigating such facilities, especially given the costs involved.

"Angelic Staff and Home-Like Atmosphere!"

From our perspective, Beach House Jacksonville has been a great experience. The staff are like angels, always friendly and doing their best. It’s a blessing that we found this place, especially since it’s where our loved one lived their whole life. They offer lots of activities for residents, but you’re not obligated to participate. We highly recommend this facility to other families.

"Overwhelming experience at Beach House assisted living facility"

We visited Beach House when they were preparing for a commercial shoot, so lots of big bosses from other places were around. There were tons of people, and they all crowded us with too much enthusiasm. The place looked nice, but it was just too hectic for us.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Staffing and Activities"

Beach House staff is nice, but they're short on help. Care lacks consistency. Activities are boring, especially on weekends. Few nurses available.

"Mixed Feelings About Pricing During Assisted Living Facility Tour"

We went on a tour for my family. The tour was nice, but when we talked about money, the person helping us wasn’t very clear. It made us feel unsure.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

The staff members were okay, and we didn’t encounter any issues. When it came to care services, they did their best. However, the community wasn’t informed about our loved one’s serious health condition. Another worker misled them during the evaluation. The head nurse admitted they wouldn’t have accepted our loved one as a patient if they had been honest from the start. The food was good, and she seemed to enjoy it. Whenever she needed help eating, they were always accommodating.

"Assisted Living Nightmare: Neglect, Deception, and Heartbreak Unveiled"

My mom stayed at Beach House Memory Care for nearly a year. Before COVID, I went every day to check on her. VITAS Hospice told me Mom couldn't get out of bed or eat because she was "too slow." I quickly switched her to a different hospice and moved her to a Hospice House. Mom, who was only 4’11” and weighed 60 lbs, was badly dehydrated, had gangrene on both feet, bed sores, and rotting teeth. She passed away on [date removed]. Beach House didn't let me know Mom was near death or that she couldn't get out of bed or eat. However, the Executive Director, told me on [date removed] that I had 45 days to move Mom to a nursing home because she couldn't "stand & pivot" anymore and they couldn't care for her. The staff didn't realize her bed sores had turned into gangrene. They're also refusing to give back the rent we paid for the time after her death. I could share more about their incompetence, but I'll stop here.

"Beyond Displeased with Beach House Memory Care Facilities."

My mom lived at Beach House Memory Care for nearly a year and our experience was bitterly disappointing. Before the pandemic, I was there every day to check on how she was doing. Then, one day, VITAS Hospice reached out and told me that she wasn't allowed to leave her bed anymore or get meals because she was eating too slowly. I took immediate action switching Hospice providers and had her moved to a different hospice facility. My mom, who was just 4’11", weighed only 60 lbs and had severe gangrene on both her feet, bedsores on her back, and her teeth were in ruins and ready to fall out. She died on a day of which the date I've omitted. Beach House didn't even tell me she was near death. However, the Executive Director did give me a 45-day warning to transfer her to a nursing home since she could no longer stand up. There are even more examples of their mishandling of her care, but I have decided to stop my review here.

"Assisted Living Facility Falls Short on Expectations"

I was surprised by how little effort seemed to be put into this new community. The rooms were small, and instead of central air with thermostats, there were just wall units. It felt more like a motel than a real community, and I didn't think it would suit my father well.

"Needs Better Care and Organization"

Ever since my family member started living here, I’ve felt let down because the people working here aren’t doing a good job with his medicine. It worries me that they’re not organized and don’t give out the medicine when they’re supposed to. This place really has to get better and find a way to do things right.

"Numerous staff changes and poor communication plague this facility"

I'd suggest waiting about a month or two before considering this place, because they're definitely in need of some changes. It seems like they can't keep a Director of Health Services, as they're already on their fourth one, and this is the third temporary person they've had in charge of Community Services. The nurses don't stay for long either, often leaving to pursue other jobs. It's pretty obvious that they hardly communicate amongst themselves and changing shifts smoothly doesn't happen often. Though it's been open for nearly a year, it has 100 beds for less than 40 residents. I urge you to avoid their Memory Care section if possible. We're actively seeking a better facility for our family.

"Flexible and Friendly Assisted Living Facility with New Facilities"

The assisted living place did well. There's a lot of paperwork for a short visit, but once I understood it, everything was okay. The staff is really nice. They were close by and new, which we liked a lot. They can do just one day or longer. They are pretty relaxed and can adjust to different needs.
