"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

The place is okay for new folks if they make their care needs clear. They didn't really help my family member with bathing, dressing, or showers, but they still charged extra for it, even though we talked about his needs when he got there. We're still waiting for them to give us back the money they charged for stuff they didn't do. The food isn't that great either. If a person has their own fridge, they might like having some fresh fruits and snacks in there, especially if they don't like the meal. At first, they messed up giving my family member his medicine for about a week after he arrived. They fixed it now, but family has to keep checking to make sure they keep getting it right and keep the patient safe. They've had some staff changes, so I guess they try to do good, but they don't always follow through. I've seen how care can be different depending on how much the family is around from my own work in assisted living. My dad is doing fine and the people there are nice enough.

"More Fresh Fruit and Restaurant Sign-Up Sheets Needed"

I think the clients and staff at THE Pointe would do better with a lot more fresh fruit every day! Also, please put up a sign-up sheet for Red Lobster and Outback restaurants twice a month!

"Mixed Blessing with Room for Improvement"

The Pointe has been a real blessing. We're thankful for the caring staff who help our mom daily with activities and family events. We do have concerns about some staff being disrespectful towards mom's questions, which makes her anxious. Also, the timing for things like medicine, showers, meals, laundry, and room cleaning isn't consistent. We hope these areas get better.

"Not Recommended: Dirty Facility, Poor Service, and Communication Issues"

My family member stayed at The Pointe, but we just moved him out. The place was dirty, the service wasn't good, and the food was bad. They didn't handle medications well, and talking to staff after hours was a joke. I know it's tough to find workers now, but the care they give isn't worth what they charge. I wouldn't tell others to go there.

"The Pointe Lacking Staff and Not Providing Needed Care"

Our time at The Pointe wasn't good. It felt like they didn't have enough staff. Some people working there didn't look like they were concentrating on their work. They weren't taking care of the residents quickly enough. The biggest issue was when my family member needed help with eating, but no one was helping her. They seemed to only do well with people who didn't need a lot of care.

"Small Memory Care Unit Staff Great but Concerns About Environment"

I visited The Pointe and the staff were really nice. We visited the memory care unit where only 2 people were there. One man was curled up and the other lady was crying. They said she cried all the time and I couldn't imagine leaving my loved one there with that happening constantly. The space was too small, I wanted him to be with more people.

"Negligent assisted living facility lacks care and fails responsibilities."

This was the absolute worst place I've ever seen. It was dirty, they clearly didn't care about their residents, and they were shockingly neglectful. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone, it was just plain awful. Don't expect them to provide the necessary medications for your loved ones, because they never gave my family member their daily needed medication. Whenever I had any questions or concerns about my loved one, the staff was absolutely no help. They would never respond to my attempts to reach out over the phone. Worst of all, they couldn't even manage to schedule the doctor appointments that my family member needed.

I want to thank the owner for showing my mother-in-law around The Pointe. She is a great worker who always goes above and beyond to help! We really appreciate that!

"Med Tech's Compassion Stands Out at The Pointe Assisted Living"

I want to recommend the med tech at The Pointe. She's been really caring to my Mom, who has memory issues. Whenever there's an issue she is always there! She's a bright spot there! Please keep her because she's really needed!

"Assisted Living Facility Review: Mixed Experience with Care"

My family member was pretty independent but had Alzheimer's. He wasn't happy about going to any facility, not just The Pointe. After moving in, his health declined fast. It took a while for The Pointe to realize he needed more help. Once they did, they helped set up hospice care. But I had to talk sternly with them about his needs. It shouldn't have come to that. After the talk, they moved him to higher care, but hospice was already full-time by then.

"Great place with friendly staff!"

This place was amazing! The staff was friendly and helpful. The layout was easy to get around. It was clean, bright, and cheerful. The only downside was that it was too far for my daughter to visit regularly.

"Very Happy with This Community"

I couldn't be happier with this place. They take great care of my husband and his needs. The staff is very accommodating and attentive, always willing to help. The community is very clean and well-kept. There are many activities available. My husband, who is 6'5", gets bigger meal portions, and he's very pleased with the food. I'm very happy with everything they've done for us. This is an amazing community, and I highly recommend it.

"Understanding care and costs is important"

I toured this community, and it was nice and very clean. The staff were friendly and answered all my questions. I noticed they offer activities. However, they couldn't give a single price, and extra care could be expensive. Families would be happy here if they understand what care is included.

"A Great Tour!"

I had a great experience touring this community. The staff was very nice and helpful. The rooms have Jack and Jill bathrooms. It was clean, and I saw good interactions and activities happening. They even had a game for "Name That Tune." This community was my first choice, but they didn’t have a room for my parents.

"Watch your pocket at this assisted living facility!"

We had to get my Dad out of there after just three months. They were finding every possible excuse to charge us extra. They'd charge him for things as basic as getting his meals to his room or helping him to the dining room in his wheelchair. And let's not forget the unwelcome surprises on his monthly bills for services he didn't even use. They wanted to charge him $1,200 for a portable nebulizer he didn't even agree to use! There was one month where the bill was almost $7,000! They never bothered to give me a heads up about these ridiculous extra charges. I was forced to sit down with them and argue over every single item on the bill to get them to remove almost half of them. Our savings would've vanished in another three months, had we stayed. Then we found a much better place, with larger rooms, better food, and nicer staff. Plus, they reassured me there wouldn't be surprise charges on the monthly bill without my prior approval. Unless you basically have a money tree, I wouldn't suggest this facility.

"Avoid this place: Poor care & management continue worsening"

My Mom has lived here for more than 6 years and only stays because she dislikes alterations. She has had to deal with low-quality care and bad management. I believe I've at long last convinced her to move since things keep deteriorating.

"I would recommend this place to everyone!"

This place is wonderful! The people are so nice, from Philip the director to the kitchen staff. They are incredibly caring, and I would recommend it to anyone. They are the sweetest people. When I first called, they were quick to help me, and the marketing director, Nancy Trusdale, is great. They offer higher levels of care if needed. They respond quickly when my loved one calls for help. They ask what time he wants his shower, and if he says 9:30, they come right then. The place feels cozy and family-like, with music playing and people moving around. It's across the street from the VA, but it's not affiliated with them. The whole facility is on one level, so there’s not much elevator traffic. The director works hard to make things happen. They offered a 30-day respite as a trial period and set up a furnished room for him. They have different service levels, and we chose more than we needed, but later, we reduced the care as it wasn't necessary. One time, we went to the dentist and forgot his partials. I called the front desk to see if the driver could help, and the girl there quickly brought the partials to me in five minutes! One waitress in the dining room has been there for twenty years, which says a lot! There isn’t anyone I don’t like there.

"Unsatisfactory Management and Staff Turnover"

We had to leave due to conflicts. The management was really bad. The facility was okay for the needs of my brother, yet they struggled with managing the people living there. They even had a lot of staff leaving, especially their leaders. The meals were just so-so.

"Friendly Staff"

The assisted living facility was pretty good, but it felt huge. I appreciated the friendliness of the staff—they were very nice. However, its proximity to the water made me uneasy; I could imagine it being evacuated during a storm.
