"Casual, caring, but needs better food and management"
I like this place and the general feel of it. It's casual and mostly caring. They could improve the food a bit and tighten up the management. My mother complains but not in a nasty way. She’s a 94-year-old woman who has been independent for 40 years, so this is new for her. I feel fortunate we found this place. She has a balcony that looks over a lake. I wish she would be more social. We looked at many different places. When they showed us the room at Colonnade, it was the best on all points with a great view.

"Good Overall, But Communication Needs Improvement"
Everything is really good, but lately they haven't been good at keeping in touch with my family. Finally today, [name removed], who's in charge of taking care of the residents, called me and answered the 3 questions I had. It shouldn't have taken two weeks, but I'm happy she finally called. They used to be really good at keeping in touch with the family.

"Lacks Available Rooms but Informative Tour and Pleasant Grounds"
The person who was supposed to show us around wasn’t there, so someone else from management did it instead. It was still okay and gave us enough information. The outside area looked nice, and the rooms for activities and eating seemed fine too. The only issue was that they didn’t have any rooms available that suited our needs; only small ones were open. Otherwise, we would have asked more about the place.

"Beautiful Assisted Living with Some Coordination Challenges"
Wow, the place is gorgeous! Lots of light, screened patios with views. Staff is super nice and they offer shuttle services for appointments and activities. The only downside was poor coordination between sales, medical, and activity staff. It’s been tough to get clear information. Also, it’s a private facility, so they don’t accept aid or assistance. But overall, our family member is happy and the beautiful grounds boost mental health.

"Helpful Staff but Better Communication Needed"
The staff I've met have been helpful, friendly, and want my mom to have a good experience. But, the communication between the community and the family isn't great. It would help to know when housekeeping comes, when laundry day is, and how to stay on top of these things. This way, my mom won't be inconvenienced, and family members don't end up doing laundry and changing the bed. I haven't tried the food, but I hear it's okay, though there's not much variety. Moving in was easy, and the paperwork was simple. The staff should have orientations for new families, explaining everything and how to make the most of their stay. I would recommend this place because it offers fair prices for the care level.

"Memory Care Experience at The Colonnade: Mixed Feelings"
I'm reviewing the memory care part at The Colonnade. If my relative had stayed in the assisted living part as intended, I'd probably rate it higher. The people and the head of nursing services were great, though.

"Well-maintained older facility with good value"
This facility is a bit older than others nearby but well-maintained. The price is lower than others I visited, a good value. [Name] was informative, answering all my questions.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
My family member didn’t like it here because sometimes their trash or laundry wasn’t picked up. The food wasn’t as good as they hoped, and the menu needed more attention to detail. However, the staff communicated well with us.

"Nice facility, but unresponsive administration"
I never got to visit, so I can't say much about cleanliness, meals, activities, or value. But our loved ones who did visit said it was very nice. The home health nurse who visited was really impressed. I don't know much about the meals, but they did bring food to our loved one when she was sick, which I appreciated. The staff was friendly, but the administration was unresponsive.

"Avoid The Colonnade"
My husband stayed at The Colonnade because he has dementia and couldn’t be alone at home. I went to the hospital, then rehab (where I got COVID), back to the hospital, and finally to a lockdown COVID ward. When I returned to The Colonnade “to be discharged,” they wouldn’t let me leave. I sat in the lobby for two days, pressuring them to sign the discharge papers. During this terrible month and a half, I felt dehumanized. The CNAs screamed at everyone, treating us poorly. I was left in a room without a call button, and the overflowing toilet mess was never cleaned up. This was just the tip of the iceberg. I failed to give 30 days’ notice that my husband was leaving because survival was my priority. Now they’re demanding payment for the time we weren’t even there. Unreasonable! I’d advise others: “Don’t go there.” The upper staff were unfriendly and condescending. When leaving, the director snatched the wheelchair footrest without a word. No need for apologies—I wasn’t stealing it. Upper management’s behavior was appalling. That’s my take on The Colonnade at Beckett Lake.

"Mixed Feelings on Assisted Living Care"
At first, I was really happy. The way we got into the place and all the people who helped us made us feel hopeful. But then things went downhill, and I ended up wondering a lot about the kind of care they were giving.

"Needs Better Cleaning, More Cheerful Setting"
We checked out this place for care. It wasn’t cool that the place could be cleaner. The folks living there didn’t look too pleased with their surroundings. They’ve got a bunch of stuff to do, though. We didn’t get to peek at what kind of food they serve. We think other families should check this place out too.

"Upset Over Becket Lake's Lackluster Services"
The trash can isn't being emptied unless I request it. The room hasn't been cleaned. The TV remote was nowhere to be found one day, but strangely showed up the next day. We can't find the boxed phone at all. My sister had to step in and give her a shower even though I'm paying extra for Becket Lake to handle her bathing. Her clothes weren't washed until late Friday evening when I mentioned it, after bringing her back from a day trip.

"Brookedale's Downfall: Quality Drop Ignites Mass Departure"
Honestly, there's not much to appreciate here. The typical downfall comes after businesses merge or get bought out—the quality dips while the price skyrockets. They've spent a bunch on fancy carpet and furniture for the lobby, but what about the actual care? The food? The staff? They're slipping, and it's noticeable. A lot of people, staff and residents alike, are leaving for valid reasons. My mom has lived here for two years and a half. It's been rough seeing the place go downhill. She's packing her bags and leaving this week too. It's hard for her, especially since she's saying goodbye to some friends who've also moved away. But I get why they left. Brookedale Beckett Lake, this is on you. And don't bother asking us to discuss the complaint—we've already tried, but it seems like you're just not listening.

"Beckett Lake Aides Overstretched Amidst Renovations"
Beckett Lake is working on becoming better. They are changing into a Brookdale community and are fixing up the building, so everything is a little chaotic. With lots of changes, some things are getting overlooked. We've come for events that the daily schedule said were happening, but nobody was there. The lounge TV is broken. There've been a bunch of issues with keeping the place up. Laundry service should be part of what we get, but when they wash the clothes, they come back in a crumpled mess instead of folded. They don't seem to have enough helpers for all the people living here. Even though the switch has been hard, the staff is very nice and they seem to truly care about the people living here. I think things will get better once the building work is over.

"A great place for Mom, highly recommend!"
We visit Mom at this facility about 3 to 4 times a week and eat with her at least once or twice in the dining hall. Everyone there is friendly and takes the time to know the residents. The place is also very clean and well-kept. The Director, Mike, knows everyone’s names, both employees and residents. That says a lot about him. He helped design and open this facility 13 years ago, and his own mother stayed here before she passed. The pricing is similar to other places, but the value is much better. This should definitely be on your list of places to check out!

"Serious Problems with Security and Medication Handling"
We faced some big problems at this place. Stuff kept disappearing from my family member's room, and I really think they messed up handling their medicine. We moved our family member to a different Emeritus facility that's doing a way better job.
