"Poor Tailoring and Inconsiderate Treatment at Colonnade at Carrollwood"
Our time with the Colonnade at Carrollwood wasn't good at all. My dad could only get in if he healed some sore spots on his heels from his recovery place. Even though a person from Colonnade saw the sores, took photos, and told us Dad could get in, they changed their minds 3 days later. They kicked us out because a nurse there said the sores were too serious and broke Florida rules. They told us to leave in an hour, which was really upsetting and unfair. I think they just wanted our money. I wouldn't tell anyone to choose this place. To make things worse, the nurse left my dad's heels out in the open. We had to speak up to get them to cover the sores. This isn't right. Even with all that, the staff and the place might be okay.

"Activities Discrepancy"
My mom loves it there, and I'd recommend it. We chose it based on the activities they listed. However, some of those activities don't actually happen. Still, my mom is content, so I won't complain.

"Impersonal Atmosphere in Otherwise Decent Assisted Living Community"
The place was okay, but it didn't feel cozy. On the tour, I didn't feel like they cared about me personally, more like they were just going through the motions.

"Assisted Living Needs Improvements"
The place is really clean, but the food's just okay. They need more staff because there aren't enough, and they should add more activities for the people living there.

"Assisted Living Facility Needs Better Service and Food Quality"
The place was clean. The food was just okay, but it could be better. They should hire more staff because waiting for help takes too long.

"A Wonderful Place with Great Care and Friendly Staff!"
I've found the administration and staff to be very friendly and responsible. The caregivers are kind, attentive, and skilled. The housekeeping staff do a fantastic job everything is always neat and clean. Most importantly, there are no bad smells. The chef and dining staff make and serve tasty, healthy meals with smiles and good humor. Many of them have worked here for years, which says a lot about the place. The volunteers also keep residents busy with fun activities and great entertainment. Keep up the good work!

"Stay Away From Brookdale Carrollwood: It's a Nightmare"
Our family had a terrible experience at Brookdale, Carrollwood – it lasted a complete year. My mom fell and had to be rushed to emergency three times while she was living there. Instead of worry or regret for my mom's second fall, the Brookdale nurse told me they would be charging us an additional monthly fee of $780 for 'other services'. During my mom's third trip to the emergency room, I was contacted by the Brookdale nurse again. Instead of expressing concern for my mom's well-being, she said the director stated my mom couldn't come back to her room. This turned out to be quickly corrected after the E.R. nurse informed Brookdale of the law. But we had seen enough. They neglected the care that we were paying for, and we decided not to return. It's confirmed that on her third fall, my mother was left alone on the floor for hours because they never checked on her that night. This was confirmed by the Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) at the local County Fire Department. They told me it was one of the worst experiences they had when attempting to aid my mom, who was found on the floor. Brookdale's management was horrible. Don't let the nice exterior fool you. What matters is the care, or in Brookdale Carrollwood's case, complete lack of it. Be sure to consider the level of care your loved one will need soon. Brookdale is all about extra fees. Charges are never mentioned upfront, and additional tiers of fees cost well over a thousand extra dollars monthly. They tried to charge a 'laying out of clothes fee', which was quickly dismissed as my siblings and I always took care of it ourselves. We paid for an escort service to ensure Mom was taken to the dining and activity rooms. However, they seldom moved her from her apartment. My mom was usually left alone or taken to dinner late, and she often had to eat all by herself. I once had to pull Mom's emergency cord. It took fifty minutes before an aide arrived after an unsuccessful search for one myself. I repeatedly voiced my concern to the clinical manager and the director to no avail. They brushed me off arrogantly. Attempts to raise complaints at higher levels were ignored. Even a regional director was incompetent and uncaring. For 12 straight days, Mom was denied her heart medicine. But we questioned them when we noticed she wasn't getting her medication. They mistakenly blamed the doctor. I filed a complaint with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). The authorities profoundly penalized Brookdale for our complaint. Again, this wasn't an isolated incident. There were multiple previous cases of medication denial but we had tried to resolve it ourselves. In conclusion, You have to advocate for your loved ones. I strongly discourage anyone from choosing Brookdale, Carrollwood. It was a haunting experience for us.

"Spacious but slightly messy; friendly staff!"
Brookdale Carrollwood has many hallways and small spaces. It felt a bit bigger than what we wanted. It wasn't as tidy as the smaller place we picked. The staff we met were nice and seemed to know their stuff.

"They Tried, But Missed the Mark"
They tried to help us, but they missed some important things when assessing my father's needs. In the end, I had to move him to a different care facility that focuses more on memory care.

"Mom's New Life!"
Emeritus at Carrollwood has exceeded my expectations. It was hard to decide where to move my mom after years in her own home. We chose Emeritus after consulting doctors and visiting many places. The leadership and caring attitude of Kay, Kristie, and Michelle made the transition smooth. The staff go the extra mile to make residents feel at home. The facility is beautiful, clean, and inviting. Will and Daniel worked hard to make my mom's room perfect. Since moving in, my mom's mood, energy, and zest for life have improved. She has new friends, activities, and loves the food. I'm grateful to Emeritus for giving my mom a better quality of life.

"Short-Staffed, Not For Those Needing Assistance"
Here's the real deal: They just don't have enough staff. Folks who've worked there forever will tell you all kinds of good things, but once you're actually there, you see the truth. They're always scrambling because there aren't enough workers. And what happens? People just end up stuck in their rooms, all day long. My own family member barely stayed there a moment. It took them twenty-five minutes just to help with a simple bathroom break.

"Good place, but needs more variety and exercise options"
The assisted living facility has some room for improvement. There isn't a lot of cultural and religious variety. The food is just okay. It's a new experience for me. The outdoor area is nice, but it doesn't have a view. We picked this place because it's conveniently located. However, we need to find some exercise options for my dad.

"We are extremely happy!! They are super clean and friendly."
We are extremely happy! They are super clean and friendly. They always respond quickly to any needs or concerns. Kristy's professionalism during our visit was appreciated, as she answered all our questions. The community sold itself. If I'm being picky, they could check in with us occasionally with an email or call to let us know she's adjusting well, as we are out of state. That would be reassuring.

"Backup Option"
It was okay. I considered it as a backup choice. The main reason I didn't choose Emeritus was because of negative feedback from a TV show.

"High Cost & Lack of Privacy: Not Our Ideal Choice"
We thought this stay was going to be short-lived because it was just too costly and private space was lacking. I believe it was somewhat tough for her to receive necessary assistance, especially when she needed to use the restroom. I'm puzzled why they didn't allow her to have a portable toilet near her bed, given her struggles with bladder control. Your satisfaction would truly hinge on your personal needs, something we didn't comprehend earlier. Unfortunately, they hardly offer any rehab – a service she desperately needed.

Not for high level care reside
"Very nice for seniors who don't need much assistance"
The Emeritus at Carrollwood is really nice. They have delicious food and a pleasant environment, but communication with family members is only okay. They claim to have 'no hidden fees,' but there are actually undisclosed costs, like a $100 fee for cable setup, which doesn't make sense. Also, I didn't realize until later that there's no Wi-Fi here, unlike other facilities I've seen. Our family was disappointed when our loved one got a new roommate without any effort from the staff to ensure compatibility. Sometimes residents wait up to 20 minutes for assistance after pressing the call button. With 120 residents, it's a large facility. If your loved one needs a lot of care, I'd be worried about choosing Emeritus. Smaller places might handle high-care individuals better. On the bright side, they offer plenty of activities for residents and are working on starting a movie night.
