"Disappointing Assisted Living Experience for In-Laws"
Brookdale Ft Walton Beach was just okay, not a good choice for my in-laws. There weren't many things to do and the place was pretty small. When I checked it out a year ago, it looked like it needed some fixing up. I'm not sure if they've done anything about it since then.

"Caring Community Near Home with Safety Measures, Some Staff Shortages"
We chose this place because it's near my house, and I like that it has locked doors for safety. It's smaller, which is nice. They said they would do some things for us, but they couldn't because they don't have enough staff. They care about the people who live here and try their best.

"Cozy Studio Feel with Friendly Staff"
The room here was like a studio compared to another place we looked at. The people who work here are really nice.

"Mixed Experience with Brookdale Assisted Living During Pandemic Restrictions"
During the pandemic, visiting Brookdale Fort Walton Beach was tough. Access was limited, needing appointments. Meeting areas designated, 6 feet apart, following CDC guidelines, but awkward for family visits. Cleanliness and staff were okay, not exceptional. However, loved one improved significantly with stable environment, meals, and immediate support after falls.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
Depending on your health, this place might suit you. Mostly memory care residents. Staff assumes everyone should be okay with that. Food's not great, cut up too small. Treats everyone like they have memory issues. Talked to the boss about it.

"Safe Environment with Room for Improvement"
Right now, we can't visit my loved one inside or see her room. I get why, and I think she's safe, but it's tough. They need more food choices and variety. I do appreciate the 24-hour nurses—they're why we picked this place over others.

"Decent facility, needs better grooming checks; good room sizes, food."
This place is okay. They should check on people more to make sure they're clean and the rooms are tidy. The rooms are big, and my family member liked the food. Overall, it's not bad.

"Caring Staff and Privacy in Two-Bedroom Assisted Living Unit"
This place has nice people who care and a building that's been around for a while. The two-bedroom apartment had two separate bedroom doors, which was good because it meant my mom and dad could have their own space. The bathroom they had to share had a walk-in shower. I'm trying to find a place to live that's closer to Crestview.

"Older Facility with Friendly Staff"
This place didn't look as nice as some others we saw. It's an older place that really needs some fixing up. The carpet is old and everything could use a new coat of paint to make it look better and more welcoming. The people who work there were friendly and really nice.

"Hopeful Start at Brookdale for Mom"
My mom’s staying at Brookdale Fort Walton Beach for a short time, and we’re hoping she’ll want to stay for good. It’s great that she can get all the care she needs here, even hospice when it’s time. Mom can be tough to handle sometimes, but the staff are really trying hard to help her feel at ease. I talk to them from far away and they listen to my ideas on how to help mom get used to this new place. They have fun stuff to do here, but mom’s not joining in right now. We’re still figuring things out.

"Community Tour Feedback: Decent but Needs Updating, Not Ideal Fit"
We went on a pretty good tour of this place. But what they showed us looked like it needed some fixing up. The people we met who work there were nice and respectful. It was okay overall, but it wasn't the best choice for my mother-in-law.

"Appointment Mishap Leads to Limited Information from Staff"
The day I visited, the person I was supposed to meet wasn't there. Instead, a staff member gave me a bit of info. Sadly, I left without much to go on. The staff member was nice, but she couldn't help much.
