Brookdale Jensen Beach Assisted Living & Memory Care

"Clean, Caring Assisted Living"
They should offer skilled nursing services for Medicaid coverage. I recommend it if you can afford it; the place is clean, and the staff is caring.

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living: Great Staff, Food Concerns"
The staff here are great, but my husband doesn't like the food. I chose this community because admission was easy, it's beautiful inside, and the price is reasonable.

"Rising Costs and Slow Service at Brookdale Jensen Beach"
My loved one lives at Brookdale Jensen Beach. In less than 4 months, the price has already gone up. We are NOT happy and only got 3 weeks notice. I've been waiting for a call back about it for over 2 weeks. They don't have enough staff, so the service isn't great. The staff they do have are nice. Communication with families is just okay so far. Since they are understaffed, food takes 45 minutes to be served, according to my loved one. Their community fee was also much higher than other places, which was a big shock because they didn't tell me about it.

"Formerly Happier Times at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility"
I'm really let down by the recent changes here. My Mom came here before Brookdale took charge and we were pleased with the place. The staff members who work during the day and afternoon are great, but I can't vouch for the overnight crew. The tidiness of the place could use some work. The majority of the nurses do a great job though, and the meals have significantly improved recently. However, the staff seems to conduct things according to their own preferences. A lot of the residents have moved out and some passed away recently. What a pity. This place used to be bustling and filled with joy. Despite everything, there are a few praiseworthy employees which might make this place a consideration due to its location.

"Consider Other Memory Care Facilities Instead"
You might want to search for memory care homes that offer actual activities and staff enough people to fully look after your family members. The staff here do their best but they are extremely short-staffed and promises of improvements from those in charge never seem to happen. We ended up moving our mom to an amazing new memory care facility where she's happy again. It feels like the main objective of Brookdale's corporate policy is making money.

"Horrific experience: Grandma's untimely passing after 4 days stay!"
I can't believe they're making me give this place even half a star to post a review. This place is a pure nightmare. My poor grandma stayed here for just a brief respite of 2 weeks while my dad went in for an operation. She didn't make it past 4 days! She was sported out in a body bag! And don't get me started on the management; it seems to change hands every other month, and I couldn't believe the incompetence of the current clueless head in charge!

"Departed after two days in dismal care facility"
My short-term stay here was super downbeat and I bailed just after two sleepovers. The care quality was seriously poor, the meals were gross, and I was totally out of sync with the other folks living here. Honestly, it felt like everyone was just parked there, counting down their final days.

"**"Mom Is Safe"**"
My mom has Alzheimer's, and we had to move her from up north with very short notice. The staff at Brookdale Jensen Beach was wonderful in helping me get everything I needed to make this move as painless as possible. While there are newer and fancier facilities in the area, the price is fair for a secure unit, and the staff is excellent and very caring. Although the facilities are slated for some improvements, the kind care outweighs the need for new curtains.

"Limited Supplies and Experienced Staff: Jensen Beach Brookdale Respite Care"
I used Brookdale's Respite Care for my mom in June 2017 at their Jensen Beach place. Our sales rep was great, answering all my questions even when she had to find the answers. She left six months later. The room was okay, but not great, it needed more stuff: A table - There was a space for one but it wasn't there. Dishes/silverware - They gave us a stove and fridge but no dishes. Microwave - This would make more sense than a stove. An end table - I needed one next to the recliner and had to bring my own. It took them a whole day to give my mom a call button. She probably needed it most on the first day. My mom lost her cell phone during her stay and I had trouble getting help to find it. Brookdale doesn't let you ask the cleaning staff for help. I left a lot of messages with questions and never got callbacks. I kept trying till I found someone available. The sales rep and office manager gave me the feeling that Brookdale isn't experienced with respite care. My mom's stay was okay, but I'm not sure they could handle a real problem right. The place was big, nice, and clean. My mom thought the meals were really good. I think she would have liked more activities if they had pushed her to join. I never saw an activities director. I think they need more staff, at least managers. My mom lived at another place for years, so I have something to compare to. Hope this helps.

"Brookdale Memory Care: A Disappointing and Horrible Experience"
The memory care section at this place is simply awful. They don't have enough staff or proper tools, and it's managed badly. I had to fight for a whole year to get my dad's basic needs met in this place. Nearly all the time when I visited, my dad would be wearing clothes that weren't his and without any shoes. They never held any activities unless there were visitors or inspectors. There was even a serious claim about one assistant reporting [Removed] [removed], and a so-called 'investigation' that was more like a joke. After this nonsense, I moved my dad to a better memory care home. This place, Brookdale, doesn't care about your loved ones; they only care about your money. For a year, they would make up stories about 'what they were planning to do'. But nothing ever changed. There was no follow up after the abuse claim. The person reporting it never got punished. My family suffered a lot in the past year because of this. The people at Brookdale never bothered to 'follow up'. No changes were made. Even after the [Removed] was finally fired, following some scandal, it's a shame it took so long for something to happen when it was obvious a year ago that he wasn't fit for his job. The memory care unit needs to be shut down.

"Excellent Respite Care at Brookdale"
I placed my husband in Brookdale for a 2-week respite stay. The staff was very helpful and made me feel comfortable and not to worry about him. On the check-in day, all the aides introduced themselves. He had a great studio room with a TV and a roll-in shower. It was during the October hurricane, and I felt relieved after talking to them about the supplies and people that would assist. I highly recommend Brookdale.

"Brookdale's 'Assistance' Similar to Mediocre Motel Service"
Emeritus used to do great, but since Brookdale took over, I recommend prospective customers look carefully at the help offered. Recently, we moved my father-in-law to another assisted living place that truly understands 'assistance'. Upon close inspection, Brookdale provides, for more than $100 per day, services similar to a mediocre motel. This includes weekly room cleaning instead of daily, laundry once per week, and three average meals per day.

"Helpful Staff, Nice Tour, Not for Everyone"
I got a decent tour of this place. The location looked good and looked after properly. The people working there seemed smart and friendly. They also gave me lots of information and responded to my questions. The tour was good, but it didn't match up with what my dad needs. This is a good spot for the right sort of person.

"Facility Fails To Calm Dementia Patient - Inadequate"
My dad, who has dementia, was livin' here for exactly four days. He got all worked up when they messed up setting up his phone. This made him not want to be part of their group and things got so out of hand, they had to call the cops. Thanks to the police, he's now in a hotel. I just can't get why they couldn't manage to cool him down, as they should be capable of taking care of his needs. My first four days there, they seemed alright to me, but after I was gone, things got wild. This ain't a good fit for folks suffering from dementia.

"Little Problems"
My father-in-law is back home with family after our okay experience at Brookdale. We encountered several little problems that added up. The building looks nice and is pretty clean, but the staff should be more attentive to residents' needs. Promises made during the tour were not followed through, and the food was bland without any flavor. Unfortunately, we had too many issues with this community, so we moved him back home.

"Nice experience, Understandable concerns, Great staff"
Brookdale Jensen Beach was pretty good while my brother lived there. He had to leave because of a problem that the staff couldn't handle, but that makes sense. The place is lovely and really well-kept - it all looks great. The workers were super nice and really helpful to us. They were chill and easy to talk to about anything I was worried about. One person living there told us during our tour that the food is so good, everyone's been gaining weight since they moved in, which I thought was a nice thing to hear. All in all, our time there was pretty good.

""Horrified by Deplorable Assisted Living Conditions""
Things are just a complete mess. They're clueless about how things got so bad. It's just a terrible situation. Right now, he's getting rehabilitative care and I won't let him return to that place. All his clothes and belongings are gone and it was absolutely filthy. The Memory Care Unit is a nightmare. The stench in the room made it impossible to stay. We won't be revisiting that nightmare. At this moment, we don't know where we'll find a place for him. Assisted living should not look like this.

They were really helpful. When we were looking for a place for my parents, they had different needs, and the staff went out of their way to help us. "They really need to work on the security at the door anyone can just walk in at night."
Some parts are great, but others are really gross because they leave garbage in the stairwells. It’s hard to get them to do what they promise, and maintenance takes forever to respond. Some lights don’t work right. The entrance has a code, but it often fails at night, so anyone can walk in. Security is lacking. Staff sometimes smoke outside, which isn’t professional. Renee, the executive director, is amazing. Overall, it’s a new experience for me, and the price is fair. They need to fix the door security, though.

"Inconsistent Acceptance Policy; Poor Security"
My mom wasn't accepted due to medication issues. They didn't seem all that organized. One person initially said she could come for lunch, then called back saying they couldn't accommodate her. Also, no one was watching the unlocked backdoor. For a facility that deals with patients who have mild memory problems, I expected the backdoor to be monitored. I can't be sure, but that was my impression. I thought about moving my mom there since her memory issues aren't severe. Yet, the lack of security struck me as strange.

"Very Pleasant"
After checking out four other places, we chose Emeritus at Jensen Beach. It's really nice and doesn't feel like a hospital or nursing home. I can only speak for the memory care side, but they also offer assisted living. The Memory Care Ward is well-managed, and the staff seems pretty good, although there's some turnover. In some areas, Emeritus could use updates, like their billing department. Overall, it's a good place, and I'd recommend it to others.
