"Clean, Comfortable, and Spacious Assisted Living with Pricing Concerns"

Our first impression was really good. Four of us visited to check it out, and we all left feeling like it’s clean and comfy, and the people who live there seem happy. The managing director showed us around and she knew a lot and was patient. If she didn’t know something, she asked someone else so we got all the info we needed. We were impressed with the staff and the size of the rooms. It didn’t feel small and cramped like some others because the ceilings are high and the windows are big. They have options where you can start out on your own but get help when you need it. But it seems like it could get expensive fast. The one problem was that the price we heard on the phone was a lot different from what they told us in person. They gave us a quote for what seemed like a studio apartment, but we came to see a two-bedroom place specifically.

My family and our loved one had a great experience here. The place is clean, staff are friendly, and Deanna, the Wellness Director, is amazing. Definitely worth checking out!

"Mixed Experience at Assisted Living Facility"

Staff is friendly, and there are fun activities for residents. But the food portions need improvement, rooms aren’t cleaned well, and trash pickup isn’t daily. My loved one sometimes misses meals, and the portions keep shrinking.

The sales representative, [name removed], was awesome to work with. However, the head nurse contradicted our family and overstepped her bounds. Despite that, the beautiful rooms allowed us to be with our loved one during her final days.

I would recommend bringing your loved one to Brookdale Lake Mary. The helpers are caring, and the staff take good care of things. I think the meal portions could be a bit bigger. Some activities they have include bingo, karaoke, painting, and more for the residents to enjoy.

This place has fair prices and friendly staff. Sometimes, the management seems a bit unorganized. The staff, though, are great at helping families with any questions or worries. In the memory care unit, there’s only one food option, few condiments, and not enough food served. On the other hand, the assisted living section offers more enjoyable activities for the residents.

"Unsatisfactory Assisted Living Facility Experience"

This place keeps charging us for every tiny thing. I wish they had more food choices on the menu and a better variety. Our rooms are supposed to be cleaned, but they're not. We end up cleaning them ourselves. I wouldn't suggest this place to others because of my experience.

"Good Assisted Living Choice"

We picked Brookdale Lake Mary because my relative was already at another Brookdale place, and it was easy to move him here. They’ve been great at keeping us informed. The only downside is that they’re a bit slow when he presses the call button. Overall, it’s a good place, and I’d recommend it.

"Loved One Thrives with Activities, Clean Environment, and Daily Treats"

The calendar of activities is packed, but many residents do not join. My family member enjoys bingo and movies. The community is cleaner and better than others. My loved one adores the food and gets ice cream or chocolate pudding every day for dessert.

The place was usually tidy. Some staff members were nice, but others weren't my favorite. They had activities like bingo for residents, and many people enjoyed them. However, I didn't think Brookdale Lake Mary was worth the cost—I didn't feel like I was getting my money's worth. Still, I do like being here!

"Mixed feelings about Brookdale assisted living room cleanliness a concern."

My dad's room was sometimes dirty and had a smell. One caregiver was really good though. They didn't check on how my dad was doing with his meds. We liked the Christian music and TV in the shared area. They also played old music my dad liked. But we didn't think it was worth the money. There seemed to be a gap between the doctor and nurse, especially with new meds.

The nighttime nurses don't always respond quickly, and some seem uncaring. However, everything else meets the standard or is even better. The daytime staff is excellent.

"Experience and stability make this community shine"

This community is wonderful. The Executive Director has worked at Brookdale for over 16 years. Most of the care and food service staff have been here for more than 5 years. Experience is important in senior living.

"Pleasant Tour of Nice Assisted Living, Not Quite Right Fit"

I visited this place for my mom, and it seemed nice. The tour went smoothly. The place looked neat, and they keep it clean. The people working there were friendly and helped me out. They answered my questions, and everything was okay. But it wasn't the right place for us. Still, the tour was good.

"Not The Best Care For Memory Patients"

My experience at this assisted living facility was unfortunately not great. We needed a temporary place for my mom for a month so I could get some rest, but it ended up causing me more stress. I ended up visiting her almost every day. Whenever I or her caregiver were there, she'd become really scared and plead with us to not leave her. The staff didn't do a good job of encouraging residents like mom to get involved in activities, especially in the memory care section. I felt really uncomfortable when they told me that for safety, mom couldn't do anything on her own - somebody always had to be with her. I had to remind them over and over again about what mom could and couldn't eat. They kept adding salt to her meals, which caused her ankles to swell because she wasn't getting enough exercise. And they didn't do anything to fix that. I even asked if I could bring in a stool so she could lift her feet, but they said no because of “safety concerns.” The staff were generally kind but they need better training, especially in the memory care area, on how to take care of residents.

"Good-Looking Place but Poor Service and Lack of Information"

The place looked good, but no one was there to welcome us at the front desk and no one picked up the phone when I called. We almost left, but then a lady living there and her daughter came out and her daughter got the attention of the person in charge of maintenance. He showed us around, but couldn't tell us about the price or if rooms were even available. He gave us a folder that had hardly any info in it. My dad wasn't happy with it.

"No Personalization Allowed Here"

My visit to this place was fine, but they told us we weren't allowed to customize an apartment to our liking. They said we could not paint the walls, they had to stay the corporate color, which we did not prefer.

"Nice Place, But Too Big and Expensive"

The tour was good. The place was nice. It was a big community, but my parents like a smaller, cozier place. This wouldn't have worked for them. The extra care cost was too high.

"Brookdale is where mom needs to be"

I can't say enough about the staff. They've been amazing, sharp, and always answer our questions. The food is ok, and they accommodate her special diet. They have a lot of activities, and the place is clean. I highly recommend this community.

"Guide Knows His Stuff, But Not Right For My Wife"

The person showing us around did well. They really made clear what this place is all about. The tour went smoothly. That guy seemed to know a lot about this line of work and how to care for people. It just didn't suit my wife's needs all that well.

"Warm and Welcoming Assisted Living for Loved Ones"

Brookdale of Lake Mary really impressed me. It feels more like home for my husband. The rooms for residents are around the main area, which has a cozy living room setup and a dining area. This setup creates a better atmosphere for group activities. They provide 24-hour care for my husband, and there's always a registered nurse available. They assured me, "Sometimes dementia patients act out, but we're trained to handle that. The staff is super friendly and always ready to help.

"Consider if it fits your needs, it's pretty nice."

I visited here when we were searching for options. I thought it was nice. There were many other nice places with friendly people. However, it wasn't the right fit for my loved one, but I'd suggest it to friends who are searching. It's one of the good ones.

"Awesome Place!"

After several bad experiences at other assisted living places, I was so happy to find this one! The staff were helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. It was clean and the rooms were big. I enjoyed talking to a few of the residents, who were very nice and genuinely liked living there. Thanks, Joe, for all your help and kindness.

"Emeritus/Brookdale's Pros and Cons"

Emeritus/Brookdale worked really hard with us to make the move from one care facility to theirs affordable. They found us a room that met all our needs. Everyone has been friendly and helpful. My parent says the food is average; some days it's tasty, and other days it's not so great. I was disappointed that they didn't clean the carpets in the room before we moved in like they promised. We were also told that a Welcome Wagon group would come by and sit with my parent during meals, but that hasn't happened either. Despite these complaints, we are generally happy with this facility.

"Not the prettiest but was the best!"

I toured 5 other places in the area. This one offered the best services for my mother. It's not the prettiest, but it felt warm and caring when I toured. Joe spent a lot of time with me, even though I didn’t have an appointment. He knew everything my mom needed and answered all my questions. Rebecca was also great, very warm and friendly. So glad to say my mom has found a new home.

The staff here is really helpful. The biggest challenge is for my mom to get used to her new home. She is very independent, and this is a big change for her. She will adjust. We're going to bring her car to Lake Mary soon, so she'll have some of her independence back.

"Mom is hard to impress, but she loves it"

My mother is not easily impressed, so I was nervous about what she'd think of this place, even though I liked it. Long story short—she loves it! The nurses and staff have made her feel right at home. It's a quiet and peaceful facility. I would recommend it to anyone.

"Emeritus of Lake Mary: No Improvement Despite Increased Rent"

My Mom and sister have been living at Emeritus of Lake Mary for over a year and I honestly don't see any noticeable improvement in the staff, the food, or how the building is taken care of. Despite increasing the monthly rent twice (in January and August), the decay of the building is still noticeable. Drain pipes are left hanging all around. I feel staff don't do their job properly because they never notify me about changes in my Mom or sister's health. I urge everyone to thoroughly research before moving your loved ones into Emeritus. Even the new director, who promised change, doesn't do her job. It feels like they're putting up a show, just like someone else we know, promised change - but what change? It all seems fake.

"Pleasant Place with Kind Staff"

This review is for the memory care part of the assisted living place. The workers are really friendly. I feel like they could do the laundry more often though. They have a nice outside spot where people living there can hang out. Inside, the memory care area is big, giving lots of space to move around.

Do not choose this place. It was a disaster. The only bit that wasn't completely terrible was the staff's friendliness, although that gets a mere two. One of my family members lived here and it was an awful experience.

"Less than satisfied - poor communication and unexpected charges"

I felt let down – their communication wasn't very good. The doctor didn't seem pleasant or approachable. We had a phone meeting where we mentioned that my aunt would be leaving the facility, but they didn’t inform us we had to give them a written notice, even though we had given them a heads up. Now, they're attempting to bill us for the time my aunt wasn't there.

"Pricey, but Good Care"

I think they charge too much, but then again, all of them do. If they could explain where the money goes, I'd feel better about the cost. Still, compared to other places, they're competitive. A few things bother me, like cleanliness, but overall, I'm impressed. My loved one has improved a lot since being there—physically and emotionally. In situations like this, care matters most. We also liked the location. The sales guy, left a great impression. He said with memory care patients, you have to 'join their journey.' That really resonated with me.

The boss showed us around, was really nice and knew stuff. This place is cool, and one person said to my mom, You'll enjoy it here. We could've picked it if they had a room downstairs when we were searching.

"Not Worth Entering - Moldy Building with Decaying Windows"

Never even stepped inside! Most rooms had decaying window sills and mold creeping up the building's exterior. Can't know what the inside paint might be hiding, but it's clear that a ton of repairs and upkeep is required.

"A Wonderful Place for My Wife to Thrive"

When my wife’s Alzheimer’s got worse, I felt lost about what to do. Luckily, I got a call from "A Place for Mom," who gave me information about different places to check out in our area. I decided to visit Emeritus of Lake Mary first. There, I met a very dedicated employee. Joe showed me around, answered all my questions, and told me about the options available. After meeting Joe, I knew I didn't need to look anywhere else—this would be my wife’s new home! Twenty-four hours later, I called Joe and committed to placing my wife at Emeritus. I then arranged to meet the Director who was friendly and made this transition as easy as possible for my wife. Since moving to Emeritus, my wife has been extremely happy, especially with the caring staff. They love her so much that they say she has brought new life to the unit. Because everything is going so well, and after 59 wonderful years together, I decided to move into Emeritus of Lake Mary too. I signed a contract for an Assisted Living Suite so we can continue our lives together, just in a new way.

"Very nice, philosophy join..."

Very nice place with a "Join the Journey" philosophy. Large great room full of activities with bedrooms on either side. Dining on the outdoor patio, garden, and outside walking area.

"Emeritus is a very nice and clean facility."

Emeritus is a really nice and clean place. Nikki, our tour guide, was super helpful and informative. Everyone I saw there seemed to like her a lot. The dining room was clean, and the food smelled good. The rooms were also clean and a good size. The property was well taken care of, and the prices seemed fair.

"Great place for care!"

We picked Emeritus because it was close for our family. They had a lot to offer, especially for the price. They provided exactly what we needed. It’s a lovely and nice community. They take great care of the residents, and the staff is very friendly. We are happy with Emeritus and recommend them to anyone.
