"Mixed experience with facility; advise thorough documentation before moving in."
Make sure to get everything in writing. Before my loved one moved in, we were told some things that didn't end up happening, like how far they would travel for appointments, whether she could have a pendant, and cleaning the apartment before move-in. It was frustrating. But now that she's settled, she's happy. They have lots of fun activities and family events. We just had a rough start.

"Great Assisted Living with Caring Staff and Fun Activities"
I live at Brookdale Lake Orienta. The managing staff knows a lot about what needs to be done to keep us safe and happy. The nurses, med techs, and CNAs are well trained and try their best even though there aren't enough of them sometimes. I wish there were more medical staff so they could help faster. The housekeeping is great. There's no trash in the hallways or common areas, and they clean our rooms at least once a day. Everything smells nice, and the carpets and floors are very clean. The laundry service is excellent, and the laundry rooms are clean and well-kept. The food is very good, with lots of choices available at all times, and room service too. They do special lunches and dinners for new residents, birthdays, Family Nights, and holidays. There are lots of activities to keep us busy and entertained. We have limited driver service for doctor appointments and trips to local stores and restaurants. There are also outings to museums, parks, theaters, and other places. We have swimming, pool, chair exercises, arts and crafts, games, billiards, a movie theater, a beauty salon, and entertainers who visit us often. It's a fun place to live. The staff keeps families informed and encourages them to visit and join in activities. The sales staff made my move-in easy and stress-free. The administration is happy to explain bills and make any needed changes. Of all the places I considered, Brookdale Lake Orienta met most of my needs and exceeded my expectations. I've made great friends here and plan to stay for the rest of my life.

"Disappointing Dining and Service at Assisted Living with Beautiful Views"
The food isn't good and service in the dining room's bad. People wait too long to get served—like 45 minutes to an hour. They don't clean rooms weekly like they say. It looks nice inside and has a view of the lake, though.

"Decent tour, dim facility, potential for improvement with relocation."
We visited Brookdale Lake Orienta for Dad's memory care. It's fine. Place felt dim but might improve with new building.

"Assisted Living Facility Review"
They had both assisted and independent living options. My family member wanted more socializing, but the caregivers were there. Unfortunately, the management was quite bad despite the positive marketing. They seemed better equipped for assisted living. A place like Brookdale had a social dining hall and nurses available, with activities on the schedule. However, after dinner, there weren't as many activities as promised. The chef was nice, but the menu was too inflexible.

"Brookdale Review Summary"
The folks at Brookdale Lake Orienta really care. The staff is super friendly and easy to talk to. I think the services they offer are worth the money, and I feel confident leaving my mother-in-law in their capable hands. They've got lots of things going on, like 24-hour staff for emergencies and flexible dining hours. The food is good, and she enjoys the activities and outings. The only downside is that they need more office staff or better communication. Despite that, we appreciate how much the staff cares about people. That's why we chose Brookdale Lake Orienta.

"Mixed Feelings About Brookdale Lake Orienta Assisted Living Facility"
I didn't like how they handled healthcare. They didn't tell me what they were doing or not doing. A wound they couldn't treat got very infected. Their communication was awful. It was hard to know who to talk to, and many staff had left since we moved in. There was so much turnover it was tough to find help. They billed me for time before he moved in and after he left for hospital/rehab. The dining room was good, but they said I could eat with him and then said I couldn't due to Covid. Their inconsistency and lack of communication were frustrating. I don't think they're any better or worse than other places. It's clean with nice apartments, and the cost is fair. The staff tries to help, but there are issues with upper-level staff. I'd only recommend it for healthy people with good insurance who can get around on their own. It's not suitable for those needing skilled nursing care. I didn't realize bridging the gap between the two levels of care would be so hard until my loved one needed it.

This place is nice with plenty of things to do. But the food isn’t great, and some residents say it’s too peppery. We also worry about missed medications.

"Check it out: Great renovations and options for loved ones!"
This assisted living facility has really improved with all the new renovations. It looks so much better and feels connected to the local community. They provide a variety of choices for your loved ones. The best way to know if it’s right for you and your family is to visit in person. Every place is unique, but this one truly stands out!

"Great place with nice apartments and fun activities!"
I loved this place! Some apartments even have a den, which is perfect for an office. There were a lot of people in the main lobby area, and lunch looked amazing. They were also setting up for live entertainment!

"Kind Administrator, Room for Improvement"
I'm not very happy with my experience at this community so far for my loved one. They really need to improve their staffing and how they run things. On a positive note, the administrator lady was very kind and did her best to help.

"Helpful staff, clean community, great menu options!"
I visited this community for care. The staff was friendly and helpful while showing me around. It was clean, and the menu looked good. They offer a lot for families, and I recommend this community for caring for a loved one. However, it’s not close to where we wanted.

The person who showed us around the assisted living part of this place was really friendly. Everything looked clean and tidy. However, this community is a bit farther away and not as bustling as we hoped for.

"Mixed Feelings: Good Living Space, Unfulfilled Promises"
My mom recently moved to this place, and we've had some problems. They say they'll do something, and then they don't. My mom can barely see and has trouble hearing. They're supposed to help her with her hearing aids at 8 am, and sometimes they still haven't done it by 11 am. It also took them three weeks to fix the safety bar in her shower. The person in charge doesn't fix problems. The place is nice though, and my mom has a big apartment. She likes the meals and she's made a lot of friends.

"Could Be Better, Could Be Worse"
This place is often short on staff. Waiting for help in the dining room or for medical assistance takes forever. Rent keeps going up, but there's no improvement in services. It feels more like a nursing home than assisted living, especially with so many residents having severe dementia. Some should be in specialized Memory Care. The food isn't anything to write home about. But most of the staff are great. However, it seems like the director cares more about how the building looks than making sure residents are happy. The location is good, though. There are plenty of medical facilities, shops, and restaurants nearby.

"Overall Well-Maintained Facility!"
I really like how well this community is maintained. The dining room is always clean, and the rest of the building is spotless too. The staff are friendly and take great care of my parents. However, they could improve organization in the medication department and prescription drug care. The food is low on salt, which is good, but it could use more flavor. Overall, the facility is nice, with lots of updates throughout.

"Searching High, Finding Mixed Results"
I needed to find a place that was perfect for my wife. This community had fun activities and bonus features. However, depending on the care level needed, some might not be able to enjoy these. Also, I felt that it was pricier than other places I had visited. Other than that, the tour was great.

"Great place for loved ones, we highly recommend!"
This is a really nice, clean, and friendly community. My father-in-law has been living there for a month, and he always has good things to say. He enjoys the activities, the food is tasty, and the staff is nice. We've even noticed improvements in his health since he moved in! My husband and I feel so relieved.

"Unsure if Staffing Shortage Impacts Quality Care"
My first-ever visit to an assisted living place was an eye-opener. All the folks were super kind and polite, but the place really needs more staff. There's way too many needs to deal with for the amount of people working there. My dad stayed there only for a brief period for dementia care. We had thought this place would fit his future needs. I'm not so certain now...

"Friendly and comfortable"
It’s a friendly, comfortable place. My father-in-law was hesitant at first, but after visiting Horizon Bay, he couldn’t wait to move in. It’s only been a week, but he’s already making friends and joining activities. He says the cooking is better than mine! My husband and I are glad he’s happy and safe. That’s most important to us.

"Review of Downtrodden Assisted Living Near Boisterous High School"
The area around the property isn't that great, being right behind a rowdy high school. It was pretty loud when the students were leaving at the end of the day. The apartments had a stale, musty smell and really needed some fixing up. Outside, the homes were covered in spiderwebs and needed a good pressure cleaning.

"Mom is safe, happy, and loves the activities!"
My mom has been at Horizon Bay Lake Orienta for about four months, and she's very happy. She likes the food and the staff, and we feel she’s in a safe place. The staff is professional and friendly, and they check on her if she misses a meal. She can get medical and physical therapy services right on site, plus there’s a great beauty salon. They keep everything clean, and there are lots of activities. My mom loves the scenic drives! We would recommend it to friends for their loved ones.

"Happy with Horizon Bay Lake Orienta's quality and activities"
Horizon Bay Lake Orienta is doing well. They're about to start renovations, but they keep the place in good shape. The cost is reasonable compared to other places I've looked at. There's always something fun to do with their activities. They had some issues with billing after a new manager came in, but they fixed it. Overall, I'm happy with it.

"Mom's cozy lakeside haven thrives with friendly staff and community."
We fell in love with Horizon Bay Lake Orienta right away. Katherine made the whole process easy and enjoyable. When my mom saw the room available, a spacious studio with a view of the lake, it was perfect for her! While not everything is perfect, my mom is adjusting well. We wish there was more guidance on how things work and who to talk to. It would be helpful to have someone check on her, even though she's independent. Moving to a new place can be overwhelming, and a little extra attention would go a long way. This is my mom's new home, and I expect the staff to treat it as such. They should remember they're guests in her space and be attentive to her needs. She's paying a lot to live there, so if something isn't right, they should fix it. Despite the challenges, my mom is very happy. She's making friends and enjoying everything Horizon Bay Lake Orienta has to offer. It's truly become her cozy lakeside haven.

"Friendly Staff and Spacious Activities, Furniture Could Use Update"
This place was really nice! The people who worked there were super friendly and always ready to help us and the other people who lived there. They had a good number of staff members for each person living there, which is great, especially for those who need special memory care. And there were two big areas for activities, which was cool. The only thing that wasn't so great was that some of the furniture in the activity areas looked old and could've been newer.

"Really liked this place, but marketing was intrusive."
I really liked this place. The marketing person (not Tim) was very intrusive, which was a turn-off. Still, she did agree to see me earlier than scheduled. When I came back with my mother and saw Tim, she was impressed. However, my mom isn’t ready to leave home yet. I told her that when I can’t take care of myself anymore, this is where I would want to go.

"Caring and compassionate home"
I can't say enough good things about Horizon Bay. From the first day, we felt comfortable leaving our parents there. The staff has been kind, caring, and patient. They were even more amazing when we moved mom to the memory care center. After she passed away, they were compassionate and very attentive to dad. He enjoys the activities, his daily walks, and visits with other residents. Highly recommended. They truly care for and about their residents.

"Excellent community with caring staff and great activities!"
This is an excellent community. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of activities and special events to choose from. They are truly there to assist you in any way they can. Their Alzheimer's section is one of the best. Residents get great care with individual attention and activities that suit their different stages of Alzheimer's. I would give them a 5+ rating.
