Brookdale Phillippi Creek

"Mixed Feelings: Recommend with Hope for Improvement"
I'd suggest this place to others. Just wish some new staff would follow the rules better. Most workers are nice and always pay attention. A few still need to improve, but I believe they want to get better. Overall, I'm satisfied with the care.

"A Nightmare Assisted Living Experience"
The workers keep changing a lot, there's not much to do, and the bosses are never around. They don't have enough people to help, and the food isn't great. It was really terrible. They don't have enough workers, and the ones they do have aren't very good.

" "Avoid Phillippi Creek: Troublesome Billing and Terrible Food" "
Phillippi Creek is pretty messed up. Every month, they mess up my bills. Too many people come and go from working there. They never seem to have enough people working. Most of the workers don't act professionally. Plus, the food is just plain bad. I could say more but I'll put it simply: Don't even think about it!

"Needs Improvement: Assisted Living Facility Lacks Cleanliness"
This place wasn't clean, and it smelled bad. The floors had stains that hadn't been cleaned up, which bothered me. It seemed old and rundown.

"Caring staff, but patio and medication need attention"
The staff really care about the residents. However, families should be more involved in making sure the medications are given correctly. The staff make everyone feel welcome and at home. The inside of the community is well-kept, but the outside patio could use some maintenance.

"Brookdale Community Offers Social Opportunities with Room for Growth"
They’re beginning to reintroduce activities, which is awesome. Our family appreciates the large resident community—it allows our loved one to meet new people and make friends. While we’d recommend Brookdale to others, there’s room for improvement.

"Poor Conditions and Negligence at Assisted Living Facility Exposed"
On a certain date, which I won't mention, all communication with my mom was unfortunately cut. This happened after I made some much needed complaints, with the support of my mom's appointed guardian and her attorney, both names I'm going to leave out. Just last week, I had to bring up a bed bug issue. The Agency for Health Care Administration was already investigating previous complaints and they saw the bed bugs firsthand. Mom has had untreated infections that resulted in her losing her left eye, and a rotten toe that went unnoticed for over three weeks. Laundry piles up, her room is filthy, she’s not being bathed properly, and she’s been placed in the wrong room causing the investigation teams to bypass her. he dismissed all these issues as being baseless. Adding to the problem, no agency will help because my mom has a state guardian. My only intent was to get some assistance and, instead, my voice as my mom's only regular visitor and primary caretaker is being silenced. This backfire from the complaints is all to save Brookdale, the guardian, and her attorney some cash. They don't want to deal with fixing the problems I've presented. I have several photos to back up my complaints.

"Excellent Communication and Beautiful Grounds in Assisted Living Community"
The staff communicates well with our family, keeping us informed. The grounds are beautiful, and the courtyard is safe for residents to spend time outdoors. I would recommend this community to others.

"The Good and Bad"
This place is a mess! The people in charge are always hiding something. The head nurse is really mean and doesn't care about getting meds right. My mom lived here for six weeks, and we had to talk to her four times about mistakes with medicine. They even charged us for things my mom didn't get. They owe us money for days after she moved out, but they never gave it back. The building is nice, and the other residents are friendly. But that's why they only get two stars.

"Assisted Living Facility Fails to Communicate, Wasted Time"
I arranged an appointment a day before. When I got there, they told me the Memory Care was all booked up. They could've informed me sooner, rather than have me waste my time.

"Disappointing Experience at Assisted Living Facility"
My grandma lived here for eight years. She passed away in January. What's really disappointing is that after she passed, someone stole things from her room, like jewelry and electronics, before we finished cleaning. The management didn't take any responsibility for this. My family still feels shocked and violated by what happened.

"Lack of Activities and Puzzles Leaves Mom Bored at Facility"
My mom used to stay at Brookdale Phillippi Creek, but not anymore. There weren't many things to do during the week, and there was absolutely nothing going on during the weekend. She loves doing puzzles, but nobody ever bothered to put any out for her. It was really boring for her.

"Consider Different Options for Cleanliness"
We checked this place out for my mom's care. It was cool that they had lots of different meals to choose from. But it was gross that the place wasn't very clean. We didn't want mom living there if they couldn't keep things tidy. The people working there were nice and there were good activities to do. We think it's best if families come and see the place for themselves.

"Brookdale Phillippi Creek: Mixed Experience"
We’re still working through some issues at Brookdale Phillippi Creek. They’ve made changes to what they offer, which were the main reasons we chose this place. Unfortunately, they no longer have a family happy hour, and the medical service for my dad’s dementia medication has changed. Now patients need to go to a nursing station for their meds, and there’s an extra fee we’re trying to understand. On the bright side, the staff is super friendly, and the community is cleaner than others we’ve seen. They offer activities for residents, although the weekly grocery shopping trips have been canceled recently, and I’m not sure why.

"Figuring out the new policies"
We're still figuring out the new policies at Brookdale Phillippi Creek. They've made changes to what they offer, and some of those changes were the reasons we signed up. Unfortunately, they no longer have a happy hour for families, and the medical service that ensured my dad took his dementia medication has shifted—now patients need to go to a nursing station. We're still trying to understand the details of the major fee associated with this service. On the bright side, the staff is super friendly, and the community is relatively clean compared to others we've seen. Residents can participate in activities, although the weekly grocery shopping trips have been canceled recently, and I'm not sure why.

"A tour for care"
We visited this community for my dad’s care. The staff was really helpful and answered our questions about the care for the residents. The place was clean, and we liked the many activities and food choices. We recommend that families tour this community for their loved ones' care.

"They really do care!"
I would recommend this place because they really went out of their way to help us. We knew it would only be temporary, and they bent over backward to make it work. I’d give them 5 stars for being flexible. Sometimes we had an idea, and they came up with an even better one. The facility is clean and beautiful. The finance team has been flexible with us, and everyone is so helpful.

"Mom and Dad’s new home: great care and meal choices"
My mom and dad visited this place in January, and spent a lot of time with us. He introduced us to the Brookdale Home Health Care and their therapists. My parents used both services at home before they moved to Phillippi Creek in April. One of the best things was being able to pick a meal from a menu.

"Expensive Community"
Everyone here was super friendly and went out of their way to make the tour successful. The community looked gorgeous and had plenty to offer residents. Maybe that's why it's pricey.

"Welcoming, friendly community for Mom."
We have been welcomed at this community. Mom has fit in well, and the managers helped us along the way. It's an older building but very homey and clean. I've heard from other residents that things have improved with the new managers. The residents seem happy. I’ve had lunch with Mom several times, and it was pretty tasty. The administrator is friendly and often seen around the building. The staff acknowledge us when we come in. One lady at the front desk isn’t always nice, but we just ignore it. I'm so happy Mom is safe and making friends.

"Initial Challenges Resolved at Mostly Positive Assisted Living Facility"
We faced some initial challenges where the room we reserved wasn't ready, and the replacement offered wasn't suitable. There were some contradictions to what had been agreed upon in the contract and we found some difficulties when starting the care services. Thankfully, we have since resolved those issues. Most of the activities offered seem to favor the women. The dining experience, both the quality of the food and the service, were pleasant. The director was a standout, and the cost along with the suite were within our satisfaction. It was also nice to note the cleanliness across the facility and a welcoming reception." Headline:

"Urgent Cleanup and Improvements Needed at Assisted Living"
The assisted living facility needs serious improvements, both inside and outside of the building. My mom's room gets a cleaning and fresh linens only once per week. The outside of the building looks neglected; it needs pressure washing and painting. In fact, the whole outdoor area is in poor shape, with the landscaping untidy and litter from the facility ending up in the trees. The kitchen staff imposes their meals on the residents even though they're not preparing the food there. Empty refrigerators and stale, uncovered bread left out on countertops overnight is a common sight. Even the chairs are dirty.

"A Clean, Caring Place for Loved Ones"
My time at Emeritus at Sarasota has been positive. The place is always clean, and the caregivers take good care of everyone. Currently, they're going through a merger, so some staff members are great while others aren't as good. Despite that, my loved one seems happy there, and I'm satisfied overall. I'd recommend Emeritus at Sarasota to others.

"Good place, but room for improvement in some areas."
My mom often complains about the food, but she's learned to ask for more of what she likes after being here for two months. We were told there would be various ministers visiting for church services, but that's not the case—the only service is a televised mass. The staff is friendly and helpful, and problems get resolved when you know who to talk to. However, the activities could be more creative.

"Active Atmosphere with Adequate Amenities Management Team Inspires Confidence"
This place is always bustling with activities whenever I visit. I had lunch there once, it was okay. I've only been there a few times, so I can't see everything. I'm mainly talking about the memory care center, but from what I saw in the assisted living area, it seemed even better. I chose it because of the good job the management team did at another place I knew. Also, the price was right. A Place For Mom helped us a lot; we had to move quickly, and they gave us options to consider. It was a bit of a rush, but an interesting experience.

"A Godsend, really a nice find!"
We were really, really happy with the place. The staff was amazing, and the nurses were great too. The facility had everything you could imagine. It was a great value with wonderful activities, dining, and laundry services. I don’t think they could have done anything better. It was truly a blessing and such a good find. We didn’t have much time to decide, but we qualified, it was affordable, and offered the most. One nurse, Bruni, stood out—she helped me a lot with my husband’s medications. Connie from the kitchen was also great, making sure my husband’s dietary needs were met. Jared, the marketing director, helped me with all the paperwork. We’re so thankful we found them, and they were so kind to us. Joann, the receptionist, was also wonderful—she made sure I could always get through to the right person when I called about my husband, no matter what time it was.

Beautiful, clean, and friendly. Everyone I passed greeted me, including the residents. The sales manager was dressed nicely in a long-sleeve shirt and tie. They were very knowledgeable and friendly. The room was nicely done.
