"Assisted Living Facility Concerns: Medication Handling Raises Family Frustration"
It's a nice place overall. My mom came with her own meds, but within two weeks, they took them away and started giving them to her. I'm her POA and wasn't informed until after she signed something she doesn't understand. They claimed she wasn't taking them correctly. Since they started administering them, she's felt unwell and says she's not getting all her meds. I'm in Pennsylvania now and will have to deal with this when I return to Florida. I chose this place so I could have some normalcy, but instead, I'm dealing with unnecessary arguments.

"Pleasant staff, community with unexpected rule changes, still recommend"
We chose this community for its one-floor layout and inside garden. Staff are pleasant and work well with residents. There were unexpected changes in rules about doctor distances and smoking regulations. Despite that, I like the staff and community and would recommend it.

"Caring Staff, Delicious Food, Could Use More Caregivers"
This place really cares about the residents and families, and everyone is so nice. The food tastes really good. I think they might not have enough staff to help everyone. If they had one more person to help with caregiving, they could take even better care of us.

"Mixed Experience with Assisted Living Facility"
The assisted living place is okay, but not the best. They don't have enough staff, but the ones they do have are really nice. I wouldn't say you have to go there, but it's fine. There might be nicer places to live. The person in charge of activities left and they haven't replaced them, so there weren't many activities. The kitchen had a few different chefs while we were there. Some were good, some were not. Overall, the staff were friendly during my loved one's stay.

"Dismal Care at Assisted Living Facilities; Quality and Concern Lacking"
Wish we could give less than 1 star. Can't endorse this place. My father stayed here, and his health got worse fast before he died. The nurses and the people in charge didn't do a good job, and they didn't listen to what the caregivers were saying. We're dealing with the main company now. Don't risk it. They don't pay any attention to caring for people.

"Inadequate care, poor management, no amenities or activities, declining food."
This place used to be awesome, but not now. Moved my grandma out because of trashy care and management doesn't care. No cleaning, nothing to do, and the food that used to be ace is now garbage. It's such a pity.

"Laughter and happiness all around!"
This place is nice. It's clean with a simple layout and nursing staff in the building. The staff was very friendly and did exercises with the seniors in the family room. There was a lot of laughing, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The seniors we talked to were happy. We learned about some VA benefits, which no one else had told us about. Overall, it was a great experience, and she helped our family find a solution we appreciate. It was a different experience from the other places we visited.

"Dignity and compassion shine here!"
Our family loves Brookdale Port Charlotte. Mom has lived here for several years and is getting older. The management team is steady in their goals. They hire only the kindest caregivers who always put the residents first. The managers work hard alongside everyone and lead by example. Dignity matters a lot to my mom, and this team never gives up on her. That’s what makes this community special!

"Looking forward to my new home"
I really liked this place and will be going there with my service dog. I went to an exercise class that I could do in my seat, then had lunch and chatted with the lovely ladies. They all said how much they enjoy living there and how the staff care a lot for them. I also went to a big event, and the food was amazing. They set the place up so nicely. I was impressed. It's a smaller place, and I love the layouts and the beautiful garden. There’s so much to do, and I am excited to entertain the ladies with my organ skills. I'm very excited.

What a wonderful place! It’s clean, has great care, delicious food, and feels like a happy home. The doctor said my mom wouldn’t benefit from assisted living, but he was wrong! "Amazing care and support for our loved one!"
We have a parent living at Brookdale Port Charlotte who has dementia, and it's been a tough change for us. The staff there is a true blessing! They are patient, informative, and always help us with what feels like constant changes. The care and attention they provide are even better than we expected. These changes can be scary for us, but they always find a solution that works. The therapy services and programs have been really helpful. We don’t worry anymore because we know they care for our parent as if they were their own. The management team is excellent and runs the place with a lot of heart. If we could give more than 5 stars, we absolutely would!

"Great place that feels like home!"
We had a great experience with this community. Our sales counselor really cares about the seniors. They were super helpful. The place is clean, lively, and feels like home. It’s all on one floor with a beautiful outdoor area. Everyone we met had nice things to say, and we even spoke to a lady who has lived there for over ten years. We didn’t try the food yet, but we’re going to a lunch soon. We looked at many places, and this community is the best fit for us. There’s nursing on-site and care 24/7.

"Our Experience"
Our loved one lived at Brookdale Port Charlotte. We were happy with the care and attention. Special meal needs weren't a problem. Anytime we had questions or concerns, they made themselves available and always followed through. The executive director, sales director, business manager, and care staff are the best. The feeling we had from our first visit to the day we left was the same! The room was always cleaned every week, laundry service was consistent, and they kept the place clean. They offer activities and day trips frequently. The cost is reasonable for the amount of attention they give. When considering assisted living, you should visit. We highly recommend this community!

"Lived at Brookdale for Many Years"
I lived at Brookdale Port Charlotte for several years. I miss everyone terribly and am grateful for everything they've done for me and my family. The care I received was the best, especially when I had given up on myself. They refused to let me give up. I am better today because of them. I ate meals every day, sometimes with my family. The chef offers many choices, and you never go away hungry. There’s always something to do, and they involve everyone, discovering what your passion is. Anytime my family or I had obstacles, the management team fixed them promptly. They genuinely care if I was happy or needed anything. I owe a lot to these wonderful people. I live in another state now, and the community is nice, but I miss Brookdale and my family. I would tell visiting families how good my experience was because it's important they know their loved ones will be well taken care of and not just institutionalized. Brookdale Port Charlotte does everything with love. I miss you all.

"Brookdale checked all our boxes and more"
We visited Brookdale Port Charlotte a few times this year. We also had dinner and lunch on different occasions and even attended a party. We liked that residents—and my husband and I—could order whatever we wanted to eat. One time, my husband changed his mind about his meal, and they were very welcoming and made him what he wanted. The residents we talked to said they liked living there and felt they had a say in everything, even food and trips. The place is clean and well-kept. My daughter and grandkids like it, too, and thought the food was good. Brookdale checked all our boxes. Their sales manager has been great to work with, without any pressure like we’ve felt elsewhere. We’ll be moving here next year, and Brookdale is our choice.

"Thankful for Brookdale’s amazing care!"
We chose Brookdale in Port Charlotte, Florida, because it feels comfortable and has friendly staff. When my mom toured, she was really impressed by the care and attention given to the residents and the delicious meals. We got way more than we expected! My aunt, who lives there, always raves about the food. She says the staff are incredibly gentle and provide the support she needs. They anticipate her needs and meet them before she even asks. She’s making friends and fitting in well. This has been a wonderful gift for our family. My aunt is happier than I've seen her in years and isn’t feeling isolated like she did when she was at home with 24-hour caregivers. The change has been so amazing that I get teary-eyed thinking about the quality of life she has regained. The residents are welcoming, and the staff go above and beyond every day. We are kept informed about everything, and [name] has kindly answered all our questions with great professionalism. The whole family feels included, and we are very grateful for the excellent care at Brookdale Port Charlotte.

Brookdale Port Charlotte was a great surprise for us. We checked out about five places in Port Charlotte, and none compared to what we found here. The sales counselor was super helpful and didn’t make us feel like we were being sold something. Brookdale Port Charlotte truly showed their strength during tough times. When the hurricane hit, the team stayed and cared for my mom and all the residents nonstop. They gave up their sleep and comfort to keep everyone calm and safe. They were amazing—always patient and loving, with no complaints. We are so thankful for each one of them. They truly care about their work and handle high expectations very gracefully. The management style really shows throughout the whole team. We are always impressed to see the managers working alongside the aides and nurses when needed. They work well together! These are just good people who treat residents like family. Of course, there are bumps along the way, but they always handle things quickly. The nursing director ensures great care, the aides understand dignity, the chef listens to feedback and keeps everyone happy, and the activities manager is creative and patient. The sales manager shouldn't even be called 'sales'—she’s better than most social workers. The community is clean and feels like home. This is our third place, and we won’t consider moving again. "A Truly Caring and Unique Community!"
We made the hard choice to move my mom into assisted living, and we visited Brookdale Port Charlotte three times. We had meals there and joined an activity, and we were very impressed. The staff showed us exactly what we wanted for my mom. We talked to other residents, some of whom came from other places, and they all had great things to say. Management listens to the residents and meets their requests, involving them in meal planning and activity outings. They even started activities that residents asked for. We saw a lot of flexibility! The attention to care was clear. We met with the sales manager, who was always responsive and helped us with VA benefits and bridge loan options. There was no pressure, just compassion and help, which the whole family appreciated. We didn’t find that at other places! There is so much to think about when making this big change, and we looked everywhere. I can say without doubt that Brookdale Port Charlotte is unique. It’s a smaller, single-story building that is very clean, well-kept, and peaceful. You can tell that this team really cares about their residents.
